Reproducing the 212 with Sapphire crystal
plaifender replied to plaifender's topic in The Panerai Area
False Alarm.. torobravo (lacenta has confirmed that the crystal is indeed mineral on this new batch). It -
You're right about the bezel spacing...

Pretty sure this guy is a rep dealer judging from the bracelet quality on this specific video.. and his other videos. The video looks great and the bezel is perfect.. Is this the same versino that eurotimez carries??? I'm not thinking at ALL of buying.. just thought that the video was nice and was wondering which version this is.. (unless someone can confirm it's a gen .. but that's highly unlikely) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2EIGcVeXmI

Hey guys, My friend Colorao has pointed this out to me today. So with the 253/212 sapphire crystal project getting off the ground.. I thought i had covered all bases. I know this watch was coming out soon.. but i was under the impression at least through various conversations.. that the factories were going to start producing new batches of the 212... Josh has put the new production watch on his website as a new model and highlighted "sapphire crystal".. is this him using "marketing" to let everyone know that it's back in stock, or are the new cases actually with sapphire crystal? If they're with sapphire crystal.. i think this would HIGHLY affect whether or not people that have expressed interest in the crystal project will want to go ahead with the project. Can anyone confirm that these "new" 212s don't have sapphire and are using mineral crystal just like the previous batches have been. The case, crystal and construction looks exactly the same... What's up with this? Since this case is the same as the 253 (at least it has been in the past) should we expect the same kind of "re-release" of the 253?? -pLai p.s. here's the link.. http://www.perfect-hour.com/pn21202-1950-flyback-chronograph-asia-7750-p-8420.html

@ colorao... Let's post this to make sure... if there's anyone else that might no better...

Hola colorao! que bien verte por aqui! Lamento decir que no es cierto. No existe una versión del 212 ni 253 con cristal de zafiro. Josh se ha equivocado en su descripción. Ni se va a fabricar una versión con zafiro que sepa. Si fuera así, no tendríamos que estar haciendo la conjunta esta de cristales zafiros a medida!!! what i said above: That is INCORRECT.. there is no current 212 or 253 with sapphire crystal. Josh's website is incorrect.. They're not producing a new version with sapphire either(that i know of).. if that were the case we wouldn't have to be doing this group buy for a custom crystal!

Exactly what cougaree said. It really all depends on you. The asian 7750 are perfectly good movements when serviced and there's no reason it won't last you a lifetime. The ETA is pricey, but if it gives you piece of mind and satisfaction dropping an ETA in the watch then that's your perogative! Like cougaree said, it would require a bit of modification of the hands to fit the ETA handstack but not a huge issue. It's personal question that comes down to you. I thought about ETA for a long while for my Blacksteel and maybe one day i'll bite the bullet like Lanikai has a few times... I've had all my A7750's serviced here in spain (60euros/movement) and they run absolutely buttery smooth. good luck with the decision!

would love to see it on you to see how it fits.. The website pics are nice. I really like your brown one!

Thanks for all the compliments guys! i really like the strap as well it just took me frickin forEVER to get the strap on the watch since the strap is 1mm wider than the lugwidth...The leather was new and stiff and not wanting to give at all! But in the end i got it on.. even thought i frayed the leather a bit.. I'll clip that frayed part soon and it'll look perfect :-) Another thing I found out the hard way is that the deployant strap hole button should be unscrewed and placed in the correct hole.. and not forced in, like it can be with the flexible rubber! Took me about 2 minutes of trying to force the metal button through the tiny leather hole to figure out it unscrewed.... @Fizz: The watch has a 44mm dial. Since the bezel is so thing.. the dial face makes it look larger.. but it certainly wears no bigger than my UPO or Blacksteel.. Plus it's fairly light in comparison to my divers and blacksteel. Had this watch for almost 3 years and I have to say that it's definitely been reborn!

6 seconds per day is great! i really can't believe that it'd be worth returning a watch for 6 seconds a day (i know the 10 was incorrect.. but you also made it sound like the 6sec/day was another contributing factor) As far as Best reps of 2009 are concerned.. I'm not sure if i recall reading one either... I don't think the DSSD "ultimate" would be on the list for 2010.. the first versions came out in 2008... and despite the differences.. if you count them.. there's only a handful of minute difference that distinguish the "ultimate" from the v3 and v5...

haha... didn't say it wasn't hard.. and yes i use twitter.. but i mean... to go from a 5,000 post/year contributor to dropping off the face of the earth.... Just seemed drastic...

It's weird how she cut us out of her life like cold turkey.. maybe she's still lurking around......

yes the crystal on the 253 is compatible with the 212. The new 212 WILL not be produced with Sapphire from what i understand though. So there would be no reason to swap out the new 212 crystal for your current one.. since they'll both be mineral... The rattrapante version that you speak of is the PAM 286 and IS NOT REPPED.

no clue... some close ups would be appreciated!
