Where to buy a Comex Sea Dweller replica
plaifender replied to michael_mc12's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to the forum. Glad to see you here. The amount of info on this site is limitless.. Do yourself a favor and do a bit of research. Just asking someone to sell you a comex replica without you knowing exactly what model you want.. might be a recipe for disaaster. Since there's quite a few comex replica models available, it'd probably be in your best interest to use this site as a tool to find the one that interests you most etc. The search bar is in the right top hand corner and will give you more information than any and all other sites on the web combined as far as watches are concerned Good luck and welcome to the forum! -
+10 I don't know nothing about no spies.....

I guesss UBI would know.. This is why i love this place! Great evaluation Ubi! So the white datewheel is not correct? The gen pic i found also has white datewheel.. Found it on a forum. So i can't vouch for it's authenticity.. but isn't it a coincidence that both the GEN photo and watch in question have white date wheels? @Dickbrowne... i think that after looking at so many SM300's you're probably just skeptical of anything that looks bright and shiny.. hehe. I would never doubt that this watch could be questionable.. but calling it "the most-obvious-fake-ass-genuine watch" would be a stretch by far.. even for my novice omega eyes.....

No not something like that.. I was thinking something more like this: (haha.. but then again.. that's a $3,500 Seiko) I seriously see it as a waste of money spending 170GBP on a quartz watch that has mineral crystal and is made in china anyways. "Fashion" watches are never worth it.. and won't last you more than a few years. A quality rep (depending onthe model) if serviced and well taken care of can last you a life time.. and will ALWAYS look good.. not an ephemeral design like most of the gucci and armani watches that they come out with every year... For 170GBP.. you can do much better than an armani.... just my .02cents though

It won't cost you any less.. and for the price you might as well spend the 125bucks for a new eta. On ebay I've seen them for as low as $105usd. You can get gen seagulls for $70 which is also 99% the same as the 2824. eta: http://cgi.ebay.com/ETA-2824-2A-Watch-Movement-25-jewels-Genuine-New_W0QQitemZ260548529639QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca9e70de7 seagull: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sea-Gull-26-Jewel-Auto-Movement-NEW-same-Spec-ETA-2824_W0QQitemZ150415341760QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item230573f8c0

Thanks OS!! 5,000 seems a ways away.. I'm not quota-setting here though. I plan on being on RWG for a while.. so i'm sure my day will come! -
We can wait for Ubiquitous to chime in.. but my gut still says gen. Caseback not being off isn't a concern for me either since 95% of all watches on ebay never have their caseback off to show the movement unless they're display back.. Like you said.. most people never take the case back off of their watch.. only freaks like us!!!!!

lost me pete.... I'll just say "drove schoozeday"

I'm dwelling..

I'm sure they're reliable.. it will be a cheap quartz i'm sure. Would never consider getting one since they're definitely over priced for what you get. I'd prefer to buy something here, service and mod it and you have a great watch that will last you years. Armani, gucci, dkny and the likes don't cut it for me. Save your money and buy a seiko if you want to spend the money for an armani. There's plenty of good seikos i'd love to have

Who else is wearing a U-Boat besides me?
plaifender replied to stallonepanerai's topic in Other Brands Area
I prefer not to wear wall clocks on my wrist.... hehehehe haha. J.k. I just can't pull it off. I definitely think they're interesting pieces though! -
In response.. to the NOS comment.. if it is in fact NOS.. it would justify the high price.. most sellers of reps try to undercut the competition and sell the rep for under what it would normally cost to get a gen. The New old stock condition of this watch would justify its price. the case back sticker doesn't cause me any concern since he never says he didn't replace the sticker. If he's a serious seller and really trying to preserve the watch, the original sticker would probably be long gone..

They don't mention the year.. they should honestly give more details in the description.. but the photos look pretty damn good. They only mention that this model was used by the Israeli Airforce in the 70s..... for it's new and perfect condition i'd agree with andy and also say it's a good price for the watch... Although.. hopefully an omega expert can chime in and tell us for sure... I did some image searching for gens and found this: watch in question: Only thing i would possibly see is that the crown on the GEN picture looks shorter than the crown on the ebay watch. But it could certainly be a camera angle issue or the ebay picture might be taken with the crown in the out position.. Also the date on the gen looks a bit sunken but again.. could be camera angle combined with shadows.. Other than that.. font, bezel, case, dial, hand length, and date window border look spot on. Even the caseback looks to be exact to the gen photos.... Sorry Dickebrowne... but i wouldn't report this to ebay unless you were ABSOLUTELY sure... Looks like a good deal here... My gut would say gen.. unless of course an expert can chime in here!!

Val what model is that? It's one of the few brushed case polished bezel combos i've seen. Not a huge fan of the numbers and date, but your case/bezel combo is awesome. Ultimately I'd love to get an 005 but I really want a brushed case and polished bezel. That project might not even start till late spring or summer though

As far as size is concerned.. I'm pretty sure both movements are VERY similar in size. An important issue might be whether or not the hands will fit. I'm not sure the ETA hands from the UPO will fit a DG4813 movement.. but don't quote me on that. Hopefully someone else can chime in and verify. If the hands are indeed an issue, then maybe they'd be able to be modified to fit a DG4813. Also keep in mind that the DG highbeat (4813) offered by eurotimez is a high canon pin version so you'll have to make sure the 2824 also uses high canon pin.. again it comes down to hand fitment. Good luck!

Val, you gonna be attending basel this year? Is it close to you? I'd love to go, but you'll hvae to show me those bars some other time!
-
What's wrong with this? I'm not an expert but it looks pretty good to me. I think he just mistyped in his auction title.. the watch is looking pretty good though. Any experts here that can chime in? It looks perfect.. but i'm not sure...

Hey guys, Firstly.. the spring bar tool is shot to crap and I can't remove my bracelet to get to the bars. I'm planning on getting watchbitz kit and hopefully the tools in there are better. In any case, I like having spare spring bars for all my watches, but after reading FxrAndy's post on DSSD spring bar comparison these spring bars are apparently the fattest springbars he's ever seen. The biggest he and I have both seen available on the open market (i.e. the bay) are 2mm diameter bar. I know the length is 20mm but what is the girth on these bad boys and where can they be sourced? here's Andy's comparison pic:

1 min in 4 days is acceptable. I wouldnt touch it. The adjustment is so finite, that it might take you quite a while to get it to perfect. You would need a watch beat monitor thingy to get it any more accurate.
