  1. I've seen both numbers listed, but I think people have mistaken the non-chrono version for the chrono. I think the non-chrono was a run of 999 and the chrono a 500. http://www.fhs.jp/Newmodel/PaulPicotPlongChrno/Dec05E.htm Not that it matters much. Plenty of reps available.
  2. Yellow happens to be my favorite color, so when the Plongeur C-Type was released, with it's yellow band and trim, I was immediately attracted to it. But, a yellow watch? Hmmm.... I held back. But when Hoochman and Bebenn each bought one and posted pictures and positive comments, I bit. I'm glad I did. It's a head-turner: Hooch's wrist shots really captured the texture of the dial: A photo tour: Here's a shot of the clasp. The one that came with the yellow band was fiddly. You could pull it open without depressing the buttons, so I swapped it for the one on the black band (I got both the yellow and the black). This one works as it should. At 43mm it sits big on the wrist, but not too big. The band must be cut to fit. The movement seems very solid and it starts up with a few gentle shakes. Here it is with my other new acquisition, my TT BCE: A word about the band. It was VERY heavily scented with a chemical meant to smell like vanilla. It was so strong it made me nauseas for a couple of weeks. Much better now. Some pics of the gen. Only 500 were made. (Not including the reps. ) About $6,000. Got mine from SoCalTimer for $300. Both bands. I guess he's having some growing pains as his communication was poor. I had to practially beg him to sell it to me.
  3. The shame is, the Daytona is such a beautiful watch.
  4. "Cheapest" as in what? Sells for the lowest price? Your local Chinatown. Some "collectors" sell good watches for about $100. You need to look at their offerings. Be aware, though. Sometimes "cheap" is cheap. Would you do "$1.99: all you can eat"?
  5. Nope. Sellers will happily accept your $. Getting to the "good" stuff requires an upgrade. Plenty to learn here!
  6. This one tomorrow: This one, NEVER! My middle son is getting married in a couple of weeks. It'll go great w/ his tux.
  7. I will give Dave $500 to get rid of that dancing banana! All joking aside, nice gesture by Dave. Hey, he really IS a nice guy, despite everything we know about him. Who would have thought the RWG Collab. watch would ever sell for $500?
  8. Low 70's and breezy in central Calif. I think I'll go out and lay by the pool.
  9. You use moneybookers to send money to his e-mail address, just like PayPal. If he doesn't take PP you can't pay him that way. Moneybookers is easy and cheaper than PP. Dealers generally charge less for moneybooker payments. Check it out.
  10. Rolexadict on RWG1 painted his new GMT with clear crystal enamel, then baked it: Looks pretty good! http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...874&hl=oven
  11. I misspoke. Of my older FP's, the Parkers and MB's still write well. The Edson was purchased a year or so ago and writes perfectly. Great feeder system for the ink. I'm using it today.
  12. Strap hardcore? Hardcore straps? Hey, bebenn! You and Hooch sold me on the Picot.
  13. You mean this[/i ]Waterman? Pens were my first luxury "love." I collected them for several years before the phase passed. Now, almost 15 years later, the only fountain pens that still write well are Parker and Montblanc. The Omas pens were mechanically poor and need a lot of maintenance. The Edson was the last FP I purchased, and will likely be the last. Now I'll get a roller ball over a FP. Thanks for the comments, guys.
  14. Wore my Ralph Lauren grey suit with my YM Rolesium dial watch and a Montblanc Agatha Christy ball point pen to church today. If you know Montblanc's Writers Series pens, this was the 2nd to be released. The 1st was the Hemingway. I have that set, as well. They're worth at least $1,000 now. Well, if they're unused they're worth that. I've included one of my many colorful Jerry Garcia ties. I catch heat from members for the wild colors, but I like them. Life's too short to be boring! Here's a shot of the watch and Omas Galileo fountain pen. Made from a rod of solid celluloid. Limited edition. It needs servicing. Here is the watch next with a Le Grande ball point pen. Too bad I don't have the platinum model. A wristie: This watch was a surprise, sent to me by a member whom I thought was just sending an extra gen divers extension for my Sea Dweller. The box arrived with the tape cut open. I thought, "Oh no! Someone swiped the part!" Instead I find a lovely Milgauss. What a guy! (Ignore the fingerprints.)
  15. Thanks for the education, guys. Despite it's beauty, it's size lead me to sell it to a member here. One final note. This watch has the best power reserve of any watch I've ever owned, rep or not.
  16. Plenty of nuts here, Noel. Best Swiss got me for $1,050 for a YM that Josh sells for $278. It's a beautiful watch, but I could've got 4. Welcome.
  17. Yes, I've read through Freddy's posts. He's the expert, no doubt. Sometimes, though, don't we like watches because we. . . Well, we just LIKE the way they look, regardless of how close they are to the genuine article. I know I do.
  18. Josh's watch has the "A"'s correct, it appears, Kind of a niggly point, though.
  19. On Sunday: Today and tomorrow:
  20. 20mm. The bracelet is really sharp*. That's gotta be fixed. But, damn if this dial isn't beautiful! * As in "ouch!" Also just noticed that the "A"'s in "DAYTONA" are pointed, not flat. Perhaps there were different gen dials? It's likely.
  21. I receive his watch from Silix today as a replacement for a SS white dial modal that arrived damaged. I had asked Silix for the updated manual wind version seen on the PerfectClones and Trustytime sites, the one with the faux needle at 12:00 and the exotic subdials.. He/she said okay, then sent this one. (Pics taken in low light.) No exotic subdials and a very pronounced rotor sound. The rotor sounds like the descriptions members give of their cheapo Chopards. At 37mm it's quite small. Tiny compared to the BCE I wore today. But it is a very attractive dial. (If only I could see it better!) It has the vintage clasp: But no riveted bracelet, which I thought it had. The bracelet is as light and flimsy as they come. I had to tight the size adjustment a notch to keep it from rattling about on my wrist. Wrist shot: Close up of the dial: The gen: Looking at the two, it's a very good copy. Nothing to do about the irregular spacing of the pushers. While this watch is not what has come to be known as the "Paul Newman" because it lacks the exotic subdials, but it appears it is the model Paul Newman actually wore and continues to wear today, a watch given him by his wife. Perhaps I'll try to open it and tighten the rotor. After that, I'll check into better bracelets. That's if I don't sell it first or give it to my wife because it will certainly fit her wrist better than mine.
