  1. Hmm.. It would be wrong to say "funny".. But it was "interesting".
  2. Great review! Thanks for the time and effort. This reminds me of the "good old days" when I was reading all the watch movement reviews from Z. for the first time. Scary to see how dirty the movements are from the factory, but good to know that they can be decent performers when serviced.
  3. Poljot Sthurmanskie. The USSR Pilot Chronograph. Sthurmanskie means "navigator" in Russian. The movement is a hand-wound Poljot P3133, which is a version of the Valjoux 7734. The soviets bought the remains of the assembly line in 1978 and modified the movement. Great power reserve. A cool chronograph with a second timezone bezel ( I keep mine on Moscow time. ) Don't drink and fly.. The movement. 23 jewels. The Valjoux 7734 had only 17. The cogwheel for rotation of the inner bezel. Soviet Air force badge. There was also a Navy version of this, called "Okeah" (Ocean)
  4. Bergis are top notch! For an even bigger selection, you can try www.Aobobuy.com
  5. Hmm.. That is not good. I received two packages last week, without problems, one from China and one from Singapore (a PloProf and a D&G for the missy) Think they will have a though job to check everything from China! Good luck ASCI! Try to get an invoice for " Used mechanical timer".
  6. Good looking watch: Great to see some real life pictures of it. How is your experience of it?
  7. All of these are nice watches. The PO chrono has a slightly sunken date window. This is hard to see on the dealer pictures, due to the big watermark. I would have bought in on a bracelet. I have the old Seamaster chronograph and the Breiling Skyland. Both are very good replicas. The Omega is my favourite. It has an excellent bracelet and is overall very good. The Skyland has AR-coating on the glass, is very shiny and has a taller case. It all comes down to personal preferences. Good luck!
  8. Good work on replicating a classic. But, I think Mr. Bond actually wears the watch on an 18mm Nato strap. It looks too small for the lug width!
  9. Hi, and welcome to RWG. I am not familiar with all the Patek Philippe replicas, but share your enthusiasm for the simple, elegant style of their models. A good place for a search would be the 709 models at Watcheden.com. They have 56 Calatrava models.: Watcheden-Patek Have bought a couple of watches from Watcheden (although not recently) and have been very satisfied. Be aware of the cupon code listed in upper right corner, to get 20USD off! I like the humble Golden Eclipse-model.. But I have not bought one. Good luck, and post your results!
  10. Thanks for the writeup. Nice to read a By-Tor review again! I am still on the fence about this. No doubt an excellent replication, but like many others, I am not a great fan of the overall design. Wear it in style!
  11. Not easy. No good replicas of Aerospace. Watcheden.com has the "best" Aerospcereplicas, I think.
  12. Quite nice. Slim case and good midsize watch. I like the "Heuer" buckle. I guess it was around 1984, that Tag bought Heuer. Some transitional pieces had both TagHeuer and Heuer markings. A Tag were among the very first replicas I bought, in Malaysia back in 2002. I did not know much about watches, but had decided that I wanted to buy a TagHeuer and an Omega Seamaster. This "Tag" was my beater for about two years. It kept time, but the plating on the bracelet soon were worn.
  13. The GST replica has always been a "dark horse". It must have been released about 2004(!), before I entered the replica scene.. I am amazed it is still available, several years after it has been discontinued. That must be a good sign!
  14. I recently showed these pictures in another thread, but I suppose they fit to the theme here also. This is my Gen Omega Seamaster Pro Chronograph enjoying the view from Rockefeller Centre in New York. Empire State Builiding straight ahead, looking down Manhattan. The Statue of Liberty can be seen on Liberty Island far away to the right Visiting the Intrepid, a WW2 & Korea war Aircraft Carrier which is a museum on Manhattan.
  15. That is one truly great looking watch! Thanks for the mini-review. It is always much better to see real-life pictures. I assume he refers to the lume-area on the rep is much longer on the rep, than on the gen pictured. My guess is that there are differences on the gen as well, and that the "genuine watch used for replication" had the long lume-area. By the way, what are the contents of the dvd?
  16. Some nice cars here. I am still driving the same 1991 MX-5 I have had for five years. It is my only car. I have the founds to buy a much newer car, but never really got around to replace it. It is far from perfect, but I have repaired and upgraded the mechanical bits over the years. Still think that I could not get a better or more fun basic roadster for anything close to its value.. It is a sort of a replica actually.. An Asian knock-off of a 1960ties Lotus Elan, without the hassle! I also have a 1985 Skoda Rapid 130. Rear engine, water-cooled. ( The model which is known as "Poor man's 911"). It was my very first car, back in 1996, and it is now tucked away in a barn.. Awaiting to gain "classic status"! It was tucked away before digital cameras came around, but it is similar to this one. Even the same weird color. Guess you do not have anything like this in the USA? It is an "urban myth" that the workers in Skoda's painting shop were political prisoners.. At the moment I am considering to swap the Miata with an early Lotus Esprit and buy an additional sensible car for everyday use.
  17. Vintage Rados are cool and cheap. I had a period when I bought some genuine vintage Rados for much less than a good replicas. Many of them have the weird seventies style. And, you just have to love their crazy names.. Green Horse, Captain Cook, purple horse, Voyager, Silver Star, Musketeer..
  18. Try out watcheden.com. They have some decent Rado replicas, also the Diastar. If you buy one, I hope you will post some pictures. Seems like Watchedens Rado stock is diminishing, I remember them having the Rado Diastar Chronograph and the Diastar with rotating inner bezel. Both seems to be gone now..
  19. I went to New York for the very first time earlier this month. It was a very exciting trip! It is a gorgeous city. Previously, I have only been in Houston on business. New York is a totally different experience, much more European. I was thinking of posting a "Watchers guide to NYC, but as this post came up, I can post my pictures here. I bought a genuine Omega Seamaster Professional Chronograph before I arrived NYC, and had it shipped to the hotel (gen vs. rep. review to come..) It was the watch I wore for the most time there.. It is a great spot for watch spotters. Fifth Avenue is heavily Rolex-loaded.. The Rolex headquarter is located there. "Top of the rock" The Rockefeller centre, is a must. The best view of Manhattan. Empire State Building straight ahead, Statue of Liberty far away on the right. My Seamaster Pro enjoying the view from Rockefeller Centre. Torneau is a great store. Four floors of watches. A service centre and the cheapest brands in the basement, and the more expensive watches on the higher floors. Not the easiest place to be a tourist though, The staff were very polite-intrusive.. It was allowed to just watch, but the guys were always following us. Wempe, I just watched from the outside, seems like another great store. The new vintage Heuer Silverstone looks like a great piece! The Aircraft Carrier Intrepid, on pier 84 was cool. But personally, I found it too much of a tourist piece. Not much of the WW2 spirit left. A bit "over-restored".. And last, Canal Street! One of the main attractions for me, even though my girlfriend found it boring. It is true that there are no good replicas there. I was thinking of buying one just as a souvenir, but it was pointless.. Some of the B&R and U-boat replicas looked rather ok, but I am not familiar with those brands. I attempted to take some candid pictures there.. Mostly carp in the Canal Street stores. A proof that there are police in Canal Street. This guy was standing just five meters from the replicas.. All in all, New York is great!! Wish you a nice trip. Anyway, for us Scandinavians it gets a bit boring with everybody anywhere asking "How are you doing?". If you were to order a coffee, you go through: Waiter: "How are you doing? Me: " Great thanks, how are you doing?", Waiter: " Good thanks, how can I help You?" Me: " Thanks, I would have a Coffee please.". In Norway, it is just "Hello. Could I have a coffee?". Frankly, I do not care whether the boyfriend just have broke up with the waitress, I just want a coffee... But then again, I have heard that foreigners sometimes consider us Norwegians to be a bit rude..
  20. That was sad news. One of the few great profiles of the watch industry. I remember his quote that he had to wear a watch from each brand in the Swatch-conglomerate, as he did not want to discriminate anyone..
  21. Some nice finds here.. The Speedmaster X-33 is a cool watch, this is even the newer version!! The vintage Doxa looks great! I think there could be done some great deals on the less common brands. My best deal was a 1969 Omega Speedmaster Mark II, back in 2006. It was a US-only auction, with a bad picture. I was in Houston at the time, and to my surprise I won the auction for 350 USD! It turned out to be a great watch, on its original bracelet. Unfortunately, it was stolen one year later (together with some replicas and a 1970 Heuer Carrera Chronograph Calibre 12). I still miss the Speedy, and wonder where it is now.
  22. Oh Boy.. Is this thread still active?? We have to close this nonsense!! Do not post here!!
  23. That is the newer "Serie Speciale" replica which was released some months ago. Strange about the sunken datewheel.Have never seen a review of it. According to . Andrewws guide to Navitimer replicas the best Navitimer replica might be the old style two-tone.
  24. That is a very good looking watch! But, at 400 USD it is definitely among the expensive ones.. I have a soft spot for the classy Cartier models like Santos, Tank and the Roadster. Too bad they do not get much attention in here.
