  3. HAHA that is hilarious, but that's a good looking movement, despite the obvious and hilarious screw-up.
  4. Is this still the case? I just ordered mine from Trusty Time
  5. Agreed - the SkyDweller is a crap watch in genuine, useless really, and will be crap as a rep. I have a friend with a genuine one, and while I hate it, and people tend to weirdly gravitate toward it and ask questions which might make having it as a rep hard, since the rep doesn't do what he gen does haha. The Explorer is a really great watch from most TD's and if you're genuinely considering the ubiquitous Datejust I would PM MyManMatt and get one of his. If you can't float that $ I'd say any of the others from a good TD will be fine, if you can afford it swing a genuine ETA. The Asian movements are fine too, but something about keeping it "swiss" seems to make it more real for me...
  6. To my eye, it looks like the rehaut is engraved... however, I would be careful with someone who "took it to Rolex and they can't fix it or quote a price..." I dropped one of my gen Rolex's and broke the main-spring. The part was like $400 plus watchmakers labor... No reason this guy should be selling this watch off so quick unless he's not very resourceful or an idiot.
  7. What do we really think of these Miyota movements? I've heard their shock-protection and balances are just nowhere near ETA quality, or even Seagull... Anyone want to chime in here?
  8. Thanks! Do you think the QC process is different considering the price differences? I don't want it DOA or showing up with fuzz in the movement.
  9. I bet it does, and someone's idea of a service at one point was probably an oil-dump.
  10. I have to agree, I held one of these in-hand at jeweler and the "DeepSea" is off by a good bit color-wise. Here's an example of it correct: http://rolexpassionreport.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/RPR_DSSD_green_closeup.jpg
  11. Beautiful, not a huge fan of the diamonds generally but here they work
  12. It has fingerprints on it.... Real Rolex watches are impervious to fingerprints, scratches, nicks and/or any form of dirt collection. ;-)
  13. I loathe Bremont. Nonsense company with a copied "in-house" movement relying solely on marketing gimmicks to sell watches. There's no real market-driven value indication for what they charge for the watches and they don't sell many. They regularly get slammed at Hodinkee and in most "Haute Horologie" circles.
  14. Everything.... case shape, rehaut, DWO, CG's, bezel insert #'s are cockeyed - probably lume... I'd say go with the newer Sub-C that BK has for sale, or Thomas Caddell's TC-Sub
  15. Seriously? that's amazing! What talent. I'm surprised nobody has offered him a job. Honestly, I think most of the guys on here that recreate such amazing and gorgeous rep's would be given job offers by manufacturers if it weren't for the "taint" that comes along with doing so.
  16. Archimede (germany) Flieger 42mm with blue sunburst face, ETA mvmt. On Hodinkee horween shell-cordovan single NATO
  17. I liken it to any "pimped" ride, for example a classic clean lined MBZ or BMW that has been F*d with by some wanna-be-gangstarr There is nothing more unsightly than the perversion of perfection. That's probably why nobody hires Tara Reid anymore haha
  18. OH DEAR GOD MY EYES! THE HORROR.....THE HORROR.....the horror.
