  1. Attempt at Some larger pics On HK tan burgundy sofa strap The CG fits the case tightly The caseback engravings are very deep, even the serial
  2. A decent Breguet transatlantique with "A7753" In fact any tricompax Chrono that currently sports a sunken datewheel should be replaced with A7753 if the case is big enough to accept this "movement".
  3. great example of an HK Tan Hornback Beautiful worksmanship, and really built to last. I really like mine and would only suggest that the lug hole gaps be squarer to match the gen. Many have done this mod but need to be careful not to overdo it
  4. One other comment I thought the AR might be single sided but I was actually fooled by a slight difference in the color shift on the front and rear glass. This is definitely double AR. Not a deal breaker and I will be polishing it off once we encounter any serious trauma... Does explain the amazing clarity of this sapphire
  5. This looks reasonable for gen but it would be hard to be 100% without some better pics of the dial and movement finish. If you have paperwork that supports the serial number and an outer cardboard box with a sticker identical to the warranty card then you should be all set even with those pics.
  6. Just picked this up today. Noob factory is turning out some very impressive watches. Some initial impressions Finally a case for the 029 that has the right proportions and correct bezel markings. Some of the previous 2836 based offerings had wrong GMT number markings and/or case thicknesses-- this one is a a full 1 mm thicker front to back than my old school 2836 029, due to slightly taller profiles on the bezel and caseback. There are no dimples in between lugs. The fit and finish on the case is quite close to Swiss standards-- no warped surfaces due to poor forging, surfaces nicely polished or brushed. AR appears to be single sided and has the right off- yellow hue as gen Crown guard roller mechanism feels just right, just like a new gen in terms of tension/smoothness. Rubber strap softer than previous rep rubber straps but a little more rigid than gen, still a big improvement. Dial - tuxedo pattern appears different (narrower in wale if that makes sense) but I don't know if that is more accurate to gen or not. The tuxedo pattern was more prominent on my other 029 reps. Numbers and dial details are crisp, lume seems okay but have not done side by side comparison with gen. DW is quite perfect and mag cyclops is right size. My example has mag cyclops that is rotated clockwise by a hair (actually makes date easier to read on wrist) but otherwise appears to be a good example...
  7. Safari, an excuse to wear a hornback bracelet. Oh and it tells time too
  8. Looks great with relumed dial and double ar Very tasteful w nice contrasts Ap should make this, much more understated an IMO nicer than many of the designs they have come out with of late
  9. Mildly entertaining is about right Yaawwnnn Actually what got has me interested now is the fact that AP wouldn't be interested in providing a rubber bezel for his watch.... I'm sure they would be more amenable to replacing his steel bezel if he insisted (and paid), but this adherence to stock config is interesting when they are the place for limited issue nearly bespoke pieces for celebs. Here's where stumbling across RWG might be interesting for this guy (if he hasn't fled by now)-- does anyone know of you can franken a rep rubber bezel onto the gen case? Surely he could source the rep rubber bezel from a member or dealer? Could try Ti while he was at it. Also, watchmeister raises an interesting point, though i know he was being tongue in cheek. Do most franken builds shave down the bottom surface of the bezel where it stands too tall? Would do this on the rep but not enuf room for hands and cannon pinion
  10. Wow... some serious chutzpah on display here... Would have loved to hear that conversation with the AP authorized service center... "Sir, can you tell me the serial number of your watch?" "Ummmm, I think its F50812..." (Click) Seriously, Paldi is right-- Just disassemble your watch using a good screwdriver and a set of fine stainless steel tweezers to unscrew the internal bolts. Polish the sides or bevel as needed with a cape cod or dremel tool. Do this first so any polish that gets on the front will be fixed by the next step. Sand the bezel lightly (being careful to take the minimum amount of material as this will change the recessed depth of the bezel screws.) with 300-600 paper in one direction. New bezel. Depending on how much material you need to remove to get rid of the dings/nicks, you'll be able to do this 2-3 times before decreased clearance of the screws becomes an issue. If this happens you can sand the bezel with the screws installed on, to make them flush again. You can then disassemble and then polish the screws carefully. You can do this 2-3 times before the screw heads become too thin.
  11. The safari looks great in real life, no doubt. I have had the same issue getting mine (actually with a v1 dial) to look good in pictures but in real life it does pop... You'll enjoy the HK tan strap, it should be required equipment for the safari rep
  12. How slick that must feel on the wrist minus the extra 2 mm thickness between the front and back! I could live with almost everything else about the stock reps, except for this problem with the dimension. The whole thing harmonizes so much better with this mod...
  13. Thanks Zigmeister! The results speak for themselves, just amazing. Figured there had to be a large number of decisions that all have to make sense together and not just individually. Looking forward to seeing some more beautiful custom work from your shop in the near future
  14. I thought HK Tan made a color between those two colors. HK Tan gave me med brown and I was happy with it but it looked darker than gen safari hornbacks
  15. That's my med brown in those awful cell phone pics Here's a better shot
  16. That is a gorgeous watch. The Zigmeister is amazing. In this case did you plan the bezel and caseback height mods precisely or did you let The Zigmeister determine the final dimensions based on what was possible?
  17. Owning a number of 2836 with GMT modification I can say that the GMT hand jumps in hourly increments. I will say that this has also failed requiring repair and that the jump was noticeably less crisp when having issues. The watchmakers aren't fond of 2836 GMT reliability and this makes sense from my experience. 2893 GMTs are rock solid and should be able to fit this case, but I don't know if hands will...
  18. Definitely don't give up on this one, just a little patience and you'll be rewarded. Be careful with the superglue though, easy to overdo
  19. Wow didn't realize they had continued to improve these... They added a regulator, wonder if it actually works...
  20. Just came across this old thread... I miss these entertaining exchanges. Wonder if Neil lurks among us these days... Today I would want a Breguet skeletonized perpetual calendar tourbillon... VC and PP have pretty amazing history behind them, but Breguet is just more appealing to me as a brand.
