  1. Agreed with above, this is a fantasy 44 mm version of the venerable 40 mm 241, there is no 44 mm equivalent model. I would contact WBK He has occasionally sold a21j based PR reps Cheaper to just replace, about $100
  2. Love the 42mm and it's proportions That's one of the few I could be persuaded to buy... Wonder what the risti take is on all this?
  3. I agree with sentiment that a lot of these designs leave me feeling a bit cold... Dunno what to do with Cali dial with faux vintage hands, date window, and OP logo... Sounds like someone was playing design motif mad libs at OP... In other instances the complications, in house movements, decorations and ceramic case materials seem like anti counterfeiting measures of a kind rather than any conveying any passion or bold statement. In an effort to maintain perception of exclusivity while fueling the need to move lots of watches to stay profitable the LEs and SEs proliferate. If they stopped raising prices they would sell a lot more units, but kill exclusivity. What a bind
  4. Amazing choice Didn't think TWB made stuff like that... Will have to look into them again... Looks like the whole world has gone the way of faux vintage overnight. But that is gorgeous
  5. A wise man once told me, have mercy on the socially inept. Whatever the reasons for posting a super expensive gen on a rep forum, whether based in fact or fiction, they are likely born of a need for validation -- but I think we all appreciate the validation that we provide for each other on this forum, and that isnt always a bad thing... hoping for mercy myself...
  6. Cp looks pretty flat in that QC pic but pics tend to flatten depth. Looks very nice...
  7. gorgeous cali wish a mini-cali from OP actually existed so i could wear one...
  8. Hike, what's the black logo dial model on orange strap? Stunning combination. Dluddy's black MM on orange is also quite nice. I think I need a DLC model, wish I had picked up a 28a from DSN 2 years ago... Like many of you have.
  9. Was wondering why it looked so good Nice pickup, instant classic
  10. An update Decided to transplant the gen 250 dial, ETA7753, taka DW, a few other adjustments courtesy of The Zigmeister, into a noob a7753 case. A few comparison shots of the old school case and the noob case pretransplant. Note the shallow subdials and thin print on the noob dial, and the smaller date window, thinner date font, and still recessed datewheel noticeable from the side. Note however that the noob has accurate bezel markings (stepped back from the edge), bezel edge and caseback edge polishing, excellent crownguard and roller lever, and better case finishing in general. If everything fits together, the hybrid will be unbeatable, and functionally and visually gen until the caseback is opened. Noob left, old school with gen dial, t48 and taka DW right. Old school left, noob right Noob side Old school side Noob bottom, dial too matte and subdials not recessed sufficiently, while DW too glossy Old school bottom with gen dial and matching texture on DW Stacked, noob in bottom Finally the transplant, and a wrist shot to top it off
  11. Love the historics, subs and PRs Here's two of my old favorites...
  12. This is definitely treacherous water I have found that one of the best ways to find fake straps on eBay is to search using authentic an OEM. Also pics with the fake bag prominent in the first pic is also a red flag. If they have a showroom somewhere legit and sell legit watches this helps but is still no guarantee. I think the second strap (honey gator with light stitching that ends with a side stitch near the lugs) in the st4's post is a nice real gator strap but not gen OP, this is quite different from the strap that came with my gen. But you never know since OP changes specs designs and suppliers all the time...
  13. Don't worry about swap Just get it serviced when needed
  14. The rep gen difference is huge there, unless that's a totally different dial design. Should look really nice once installed. Am always amazed how such a flat dial gets fit into these cases
  15. JKay-- Those projects sound cool, your daughter is very lucky and I am sure will love what you put together for her. Please keep us posted on progress, it's time to unleash the Franken Mullers... Too long have they been trapped in parts bins. Buckeye-- thanks for the strap tips, the ebay find sounds interesting too. I like the finish on the Genesis II that chieftang had on his but it sounds like some customization by the strap maker is needed. Thanks Dluddy, The Zigmeister is definitely the man. I know he doesn't go out of his way to find more work, but Ive been seeing a lot of great work from his shop on this board lately...
  16. What four FMs have you got cooking, and were these directed by case designs / complications or by dial designs / availability? Curious as to what's out there, and what can be done about watch sourcing. At least 2 years elapsed between sourcing these parts and getting it all installed... So if you need a motivator...
  17. Wanted to bump up these gorgeous pics of chieftang's FM Amazing watch, amazing photography. Chieftang, who can I buy this strap from? I am looking to fit a similar strap on mine... see related thread
  18. Thanks Jkay + redwatch The double hornback definitely makes a more masculine impression than the bracelet. A great option, for sure, and made such a difference for an $80 rep in that case... Chieftang had a nice strap for his too, but I can't seem to find his old threads on this (via tapatalk in any case, not a good way to search...) Yeah I know what you mean about those eBay ripoff artists... On the other had I have no idea where toumiis inventory comes from, or what kind of quality to expect... I ordered what looked like a perfect dial, and got shipped a different color dial with all kinds of damage, and a note of apology and with a "bonus" king Chrono dial which was perfect but which I couldn't use. When I protested I was told to return everything for an exchange. The dial I got was this one and I decided to quit while I was ahead... I got this from a member at rwi/rg in what turned out not to be a straightforward transaction... The original supplier is not known but likely same as any cartel circa 2006-7. Another pic of The Zigmeisters exquisite lume work:
  19. I know a lot of you have this watch in some sort of franken build, and you've all inspired me to build something similar. I want to share my franken conquistador here in the hopes of reviving interest in this classic design, and to seek opinions on the best leather strap options for this watch. The bracelet is silky smooth but a bit feminine for my taste, and it was missing a few links when I got it so I had to add bits of another FM bracelet that I had... Dial from toumii and expert amazing lume job by The Zigmeister, as is the hand recolor. Would love a nice black or dark brown croc strap, but don't know where to begin.
  20. Lucky guys I have a 2836 029b and wish I had just gotten in on the 2893s when I had the chance. The 029M is great but I also prefer having the minute indices on the 029a/b. Seems like OP changed just enough in the reissue to set them apart.
  21. Some great watches, great superreps... Would love to get myself a good IWC franken but hearing conflicting opinions St4 where in the world is that bridge?
  22. The sharing of knowledge that goes on here. That's awesome...
