  1. Sorry... what is NaCl? Just plain sodium chloride? Salt?
  2. Doubt I can do Troy. Steve, wanna do a mini in Chicago? I can do any time with a bit of notice (assuming I am in town)...
  3. The demand is here I think. But we need to have an offer to respond to. Show us a watch, please. Tell us a price, please? Propose something...then we will see if it is or isn't.
  4. [quote name='The Zigmeisterzumba' date='Jul 29 2008, 11:45 AM' post='49801 Until then, I think I'll go scare that little brat kid next door that has been pulling flowers out of my front garden... RG
  5. Wow Rob. So sorry to hear and see that! Looks like it hurts... Please do not worry about watch work... take care of yourself and feel better. We will all be here when you get back... and all wishing you the best in the meantime. Best of luck.
  6. Do I really need to ask again... What is an asshat?
  7. Now, I ignored this thread, and sorry I did. Gotta have some drama to spice up the chilli sometimes. But, really it's all with good intentions I have no doubt as I have ultimate faith in the main players here. Let's just all breath in and out and move on... Thanks Lani for trying to pull this together for those who need this mod...seems that helping out the crew is often thankless...
  8. I won't buy one-- or any Brietling-- but God love you for writing this. You know they are listening... we are no doubt an important customer group.
  9. @stephane- why the pref for the gen tropic?
  10. Welcome! You'll find more than dealer info here... tons of amazing stuff... enjoy the hunt!
  11. But, I think I can buy after market hands to fit the movement, no?
  12. Thanks, Pho. Glad I could help. Hope it works!
  13. OK, so I have just ordered at 1665, and am thinking about how close I can get this thing. I think a gen movement with the right DW may make sense. But, obviously, no point (at least to me) to get a gen dial at that price. But, it got me thinking... what does the community think... how far is far enough? For me, the movement is worth it because of the beat and more importantly the DW. Lug holes, sure. Bracelet, sure. But hands? Dunno? Insert, sure. Your thoughts?
  14. Right on, man. I love all that mega geek stuff... superheroes, superpowers, austin powers...super freak... wait...
  15. Absolutely impressive. So, I am wondering... with the exception of trying to get as close to a gen as possible, what is the advantage of gen hands? The rest, I completely get, but are gen hands noticeably different? Are they worth the additional $800 or so?
  16. Ok, that was just mean. No wonder my sister just moved out of Carlsbad!
  17. No kidding... CBR, expecting an earthquake? You know, Illinois is much safer. I can protect them for you here.
  18. Awesome watch, really first rate as usual! So, let me get this straight... all gen except the dial and case, righ? Gen movement, hands, bracelet... is crystal and mag rep? the insert?
  19. Not me. Too much into variety...love the gens though...
  20. Hi all. I've got a question for you all... I've got an old Airking. It's in pretty good shape, and has a nicely preserved 1520 inside. Now, here's the question-- I don't love the airking. So, I am thinking of reusing the movement to make a 5517 (I posted about this a while back). Then I had second thoughts-- am I nuts to pull apart a perfectly nice gen just 'cause it doesn't get me excited? Whaddaya think, guys?
  21. Yes. For most accuracy you will want the white on white, because the gen actually has 'tachometre' not 'tachy.' But that one has a closed caseback I think... which is the only real issue. That and it needs double AR, which used to bug me but I got over-- Jakub could not coat it as its some sort of sandwich crystal. The rep AR iis not great, but aside from the AR its a very nice rep.
  22. Welcome, Fozziebear. Try the search engine... there is a ton of info on SFSO available, asian v. swiss, etc. Also lots of good EU dealers.... you can find them in the trade area if you are a supporter...Eurotimez and puretime come to mind...
