  1. The Chopard Mille Miglia is the only rep I haven't modded save a lume job. It's very good out of the box. A warning that mine had some movement issues and The Zigmeister had to pull his hair out fixing, but I think that was my bad luck as others haven't had that issue. BUT, it is a very nice oob rep.
  2. That is one nice testimonial. That's why I hang here... you guys are awesome.
  3. Rolex has been and probably will be a good investment, but you gotta like the watch. Cause with any luck the kids won't be selling... So, if you like it, great idea. I don't like the model ... not my taste... but still a nice timepiece.
  4. Maybe that's just business. Not good business on Angus' part, but folks will always try whatever they think will work. I don't know if Angus is trying to sabotage as much as he is trying to steal market share. [quote (andreww @ Jul 18 2008, 11:37 PM) Its good... for now. But, one of two things can happen. One side loses the war and goes away, or the two sides come to an agreement and the cartel grows. Both scenarios aren't good for the buyer.
  5. I am not sure what Lani is saying here, but I really assume that most of us are men... nearly all I think... but I think women are more detail oriented....In general, I am not, but I do have ocd re: watches...
  6. Absolutely! Great clarification...
  7. Wait.. first get the back off... then get some dessicant... like what comes in vitamins and but it in a tupperware with an open lid and the warch (dial side down) under a lamp. Wait a day or so. Check it out. It maybe nice and try. A week is a long time, but you MAY be ok. Try that and see what happens. I personallywould not have waited a week and if I did it would be off to The Zigmeister, but you may be ok ... dessicant and direct heat are key.
  8. What I struggle with is what is the threshold... at which... you decide to make a franken for a boat load of money v. buy a lesser gen for less money. That is, I can buy a gen 5512 for ~$7k... while making a good dsrd will cost me +/-1200 the movement, the rep case @ say $500 and of I want a gen dial, say $1500 for that. Now, its a lot less than a gen dsrd, but not that much less than a gen 5512. I dunno. I am stuck...
  9. Pretty sure I can make it. Sounds like a good time!
  10. Honestly, he was an arrogant PITA who mistook disrespect for humor. Genius my ass. It is nicer without him. Good job mods!
  11. Jesus Cristo! That's NOT right... just taking advantage of someone without the same level of knowledge...
  12. I am also cornfused and squashtraded... but I know one thing... I am not going to give you head.
  13. I don't think you are a moron, Pug... but if the cap fits...
  14. Yes, the point is right on. But post count is not a great measure. Plenty of morons with nothing to do but post and plenty of good folks with middling post counts. Just don't think being verbose is a measure of how stupid (or not) you are...
  15. What am I missing with Jetmid??? Anyway, No, you can't usually tell unless its really bad or you get a good look. Usually people are moving all around and you cant see the small details that give away these top quality reps. Don't know much about Brietling, I should say, but it applies for the brands I do know.
  16. Thanks, Rolli. And thanks everyone for the PMs.
  17. $6k extra on a Civic?????? I am not sure a civic even goes for 6k????
  18. Hi. I've got a PAM 063 with lello DW, a new Chief Cyclops on the way, and palp crown. Only thing I need to finish is a proper movement. I've got my eye on a 2893-2 to swap into my PAM063. Only thing is, The Zigmeister says the GMT hand needs to be replaced. Any ideas where I could get a proper 2893-2 GMT hand for a pam063?
  19. So... what's the truth???
  20. Completely agree. I think the one on the right is an MBW judging by the mag, rehaut, and loose-ish end-link.
  21. Jewelery and watch has the 'right' case for $1650! Wow. Any alternatives?
