Why would you make this comment, I think that this Mr. Z can speak for himself. This attitude that you have to know some cousin of a cousin and recite the secret password to make a purchase is ridiculous. You have new member who truly want to be part of a forum and you make them feel really unwelcome with this attitude.

Some experts in these Daytonas will be around shortly, it's so hard for me to tell anything other than a Sub. If he's offering it to you dirt cheap then that could be a sign. Refs? Local sellar? Maybe meet him at a Rolex AD and have them open it up.

I wish I built the gilt, but a rep of this one wouldn't cut it for me, it's the history of the vintage pieces that do it for me.

I was a mad flipper at one time, traded her for a Red 1680! I found this to be way too small (38mm) and felt like
I wasn't wearing a Sub. Traded her for the Red(which I sold) to pay for tuition for my daughter's university with no regrets.

I don't want to be rude but have you tried the search function? You ask a lot of questions, and that's fine but a little leg work on your part will go a long way. Good luck with your build.

I bought this Gen a couple of years ago when times were better, it's a 764xxx from 1962 it's what's called a tropical dial with uniform spiderwebbing, dial is all original as are the hands, the hands may have been relumed some time ago but they are original to the watch. It's never been in a collection and walked into the dealers shop from the original owner. Oh how I miss this one.
