  1. Beautiful. What strap -- Greg? Tootall's Moroccan Sunset? God, this is going to look awful on me, isn't it? Ah well. @Doc below: What is it? A brown Tag Carrera? Cameraphone or no, it's sleek dude.
  2. Rrrrr. It's not the price of the jeans, it's the motion of the ocean. Or something. Okay, I have been hunting around for cheap designer jeans. I have 3 pair only, so I don't need them. But you may! http://www.abcloseouts.com/UsedBlueJeans.html This is actually in Miami...they sell old Levi's for $5.00 each. Yipes. And: http://www.freagair.com/jeans/ This is a buy and sell online site for really cheap designer jeans. Just ignore the people campaigning for Ron Paul. Guess there's a conspiracy theory even for jeans.
  3. Nicely done, FxrAndy. I had never heard of Loctite until I got the tip from Deltatahoe. Unlike yours, the Blue one can be taken off. And it holds the Rad screws IN! Very important this. There are some cheap imitations out there -- anyone know if they work as well?
  4. MONDAY I have my Lyndon Pilot Watch... ...do you? TUESDAY DSN 113 on a Dirk Vacchetta Naturale, next to my LV mini-tote. The strap is a killa in Manila and everywhere else! @FxrAndy: I can't say for the moment. I want a certain someone to be surprised first. And then, perhaps, all shall be revealed! UPDATE: Nope. Keeping it to myself. Suffer people!
  5. I was thinking of posting that very observation, Richard! I suppose a lot of us have noticed that. Dani, Raimondo, ElPrimerozen, Laz, and so many others from Europe now have sales posts that SEEM to outrank the American ones (no one has actually counted them after all). I'm not sure it's a question of expendable money, though. I think good watches, or more to the point, great bargains are getting harder now on our forums. Whereas before you used to be able to find a PAM 111h with Asian Unitas, for around $110-150, now they go for $200. Ouch. And my cheapies in good working order are no where to be seen (Rolexes for $40 and the like). It can be that Europeans realise there's money to be made, now that their currency is stronger. But aren't the Americans the ones who are buying these watches, too?
  6. Not a wallpaper, but a closeup of the eyes Panera was talking about. I mysteriously quit smoking after I saw this. @Gianton: No, I wish! This was lifted from a site.
  7. There's a controversy about who it is, but yes, they call her the Gypsy Girl, I heard. Anyway, Alexander the Great had hair the colour of straw, and green eyes (according to Plutarch and others). Here is a modern rendering of how he might've looked: EDIT: Harpo the Great? Mmm, sexy! The Mona Lisa of Turkey.
  8. It's the FETAL HEART CUSTODY that worries me... Remind me never to bring my unborn baby to Shanghai.
  9. Great composition. Even better strap and watch combo! Oh God, all these straps today...they'll be the death of me. I have to post one to assuage my longings. (I had a Dirk planned for the Wristcheck today!) Thanks for these shots, though!
  10. That worries me. But thank you so much, PAMman and indeed, Tom!, for your advice. I may just pass on that dremel. I'll pretend I'm one of you guys, who think scratches add character.
  11. (Repost) HELP HELP HELP I am due to order one from an off-forum merchant but I need exact metric measurements of both 24mm/26mm springbars. From tip to top, side to side, etc. Can any member help me out? In the whole of my house, I just have a half-smudged metric springbar "ruler".
  12. What V needs is a really cool logo for his straps! Since Panera is reading this, I'd just like to say that this mosaic found at Zeugma (supposedly of Alexander the Great), is a magical logo:
  13. It's like comparing Mozart to Beethoven, you can't do that! Zeugma specialise in one-off straps. For example, this was made from a Turkish medical doctor's bag of the 1940s. So soft, and supple, but unfortunately when I wanted one done for the Fiddy, Nuri said there was none more. The bag yielded enough only for that strap (and leather case). That's part of the appeal of Zeugma. Chances are, you're the only one in this world with that strap.
  14. Hey! You stole Dluddy's sweater, Gianton! Awesome straps. I like the Drifter, but it reminds me of Greg Stevens' Crazy Horse. The Zeugma is perfection, including of course, that 1938 buckle. I see that V appreciates Nuri's work. When a Greek can say something good about a Turk, you know it's gotta be good. Wear them in good health, and keep posting pics of the straps!
  15. I have the Titanium sticks, but they ruined the finish of my 177. Perhaps it won't show on the polished surfaces, though. Is that the same version, Maxmsu?
  16. I've finally decided to use springbars whenever possible, and am wondering who amongst you uses them EXCLUSIVELY for Luminors? Are there other sources other than River? (I heard he's out of them for the moment) Relatedly, I've tried to Cape Cod polish the scratches on my DSN 112, near the lugends, but they won't come out. I'm thinking of buying a dremel. Is that too complicated for a newbie like me? Please note I don't even know what one looks like, but I'm a quick study.
  17. Just don't wear the jeans, Saddlebackleather messenger bag with these Bonsai sandals, please......... (Believe it or not, they're all the rage)
  18. The jeans price isn't what Llsteve is shocked about. It's the fact they ended up costing him two Blackberries, a lighter and a pack of smokes. Ouch! He should've gotten this from Bergies, instead.
  19. This reminds me of something the owner of the Art of Shaving told me: Usually, this type of spray has a little bubble plastic cap on it, right? Well, it seems men don't like fiddly things like caps and are always forgetting to put it back on. It comes with a little "clip" instead.
  20. Bergies has the best man purse -- this Bally tote. Looks great with jeans. I can't buy from Bergies, but at least I can admire.
  21. I don't wear those jeans, God forbid -- me, appliqu
  22. Lovely...just lovely. And is that your own made-strap, Xlr8tn? P.S.: THE BEST WRISTCHECK THREAD EVER.
  23. But pity poor me. I don't wear jeans often, but when I do, I want the best. Escada jeans start at $3000, and this one below, goes to $10,000. It's all about the blue, baby! I read that Ali McGraw was interviewed about Steve McQueen some years after his death, and how everyone thought he was a rugged macho man who just flung on any old thing to wear. No way, she said, he spent HOURS looking for a pair of jeans with just the RIGHT shade of blue -- to match his eyes. Heh.
  24. I know that look. I live for the look. I dream of that look! Curious gender-differences I notice: Guys ask me more often the time, when I am wearing short sleeves, or when my watch is exposed due to rolled up sleeves. Since it's very hot down here, this is about 2-5 times a week on average. But when my father is wearing short sleeves (infrequently, he's a formal guy), no one asks him for the time. Only when his watch is covered, do people ask him the time, such as what happened with you. We were only just discussing this the other day. Weird, eh?
