Then Tony Blair, I'm guessing?
-
I have posted on (some of) these individually, but this is a fantastic round-up thread, jot9011! Let me try: A- Pulsar with F- Jerry Ford B- Omega with H- Jack Kennedy C- Timex Ironman with K- Bill Clinton D- Universal Tri-Compax with D- Harry S. Truman E- Hamilton Sub (?) with A- Ike Eisenhower (II) F- Vulcain Cricket with B- Tony Blair G- Omega Connie with C- Mikhail Gorbachev H- Rolex Presidential with I- Dwight D. Eisenhower I- Timex Indiglo with E- George W. Bush 43 J- Vacheron Constantin Tourby with G- Silvio Berlusconi K- Patek Philippe with J- Vladimir Putin Corrected below: E- Toy Watch with B- Tony Blair F- Vulcain Cricket with A- Franklin Delano Roosevelt Guesses: - Dwight Eisenhower was known to wear a solid gold Presidential (he was the first, I believe), as was LBJ. No clue about that diver watch, so that's a guess. - Harry Truman wore a simple 'grandpa' face Hamilton, so that's a guess - Tony Blair is infamous for wearing a $30 Swatch, but he has been photographed wearing a Pepsi GMT (I posted a photo once) Trivia: - Bill Clinton is a watch queen, of course. In 1992, he had a humble Timex, but he's now a Panerista, he's into Kobolds, Ulysse Nardin, Blancpain, Roger Dubuis, etc. - GHW Bush 41 wore Panerais before Clinton, but was a lifelong Patek man. Interestingly, for a man who loves watches, he wasn't featured here. Gutted. I had pinned all my hopes on you. Just kidding, darling. My God, what a stunning thing this is -- married (who cares how/why/when). CONGRATULATIONS! I wish you and Emily blessings for a serene future together!!

Housewife accused of flushing husband down toilet
Victoria replied to HauteHippie's topic in The looney bin
I've heard of Brides in the Bath, but this is Hubby In the Crapper. Sheesh. Whatever happened to saying, "I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you" and buh-bye? Oh, yeah I forgot. Only men can do that. -
Inspired by FxrAndy, I changed my avatar but though I tried to follow your instructions, couldn't get this to work. Found this animated .gif on a site. Tried to resize it (being 1.6MB) but when I saved in Paint or one of the Gif Resizer proggies I downloaded, it wouldn't continue the animation. Several of the online gif resizer sites wouldn't upload such a large file. So failing having Photoshop, are there any tips you can give me? (I finally just uploaded the url and it worked)

Oh God, Vac! Someone very recently PMed me about finding a non-branded watch. I hope that person will see this post! (Will check my PMs again, but I can't find who it was...)

Tourby, Mrandazzo said it right -- summer and Panerai go together like Monica Belluci and uh, just about anything in this world? Put away your PAMs for a month, even two. Store the straps well, so they won't mould over. And then you will see. By the time spring rolls around, you will fall in love again! Happened to me and Rolexes...

MONDAY I wanted to surprise M. Pix -- I received his MAGNIFICENT Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offsore, in Rose Gold, on Saturday. So I took out my old, yellowing photo album to honour his native country for this Wristcheck. Versailles has something in common with the AP ROO. It achieves pomposity, but looks absolutely right whilst doing it! Modern yet classic. Just like the Louvre and I.M. Pei's pyramid. TUESDAY From La Belle France we go to a more discreet country, but still charming. That perfectly describes my new OEM Bordeaux Glossy Gator strap on the DSN PAM 112. Mmmm, this gloss is as yummy as Vlaamse Frites! ...heard there's a bit of a pow-wow going on there next month. Enjoy it! But back home for me, in La Belle South Florida, near my pool. @UB7: Thank you so much! I want Pix to see this Wristie first, then I'll post a member trade review with more detailed shots. It's just GORGEOUS. Love your snow shots, BTW! Hoochman on 'Geeks had some too, and do I miss the snow, sometimes. @Jon: Thanks too! And go for it! Woo, what a hit this is. How happy Pix will be.

Question: How do you keep your watches safe?
Victoria replied to arty909's topic in General Discussion
Some people hide their valuables in the refrigerator, including a Louisiana congressman or two I could mention... My family have several bank vaults -- one for documents, passports, etc. and one for each member of the family to put in whatever they want inside, known only to them. I won't say where I keep all those reps and gens I have, but just let's say, they're well-hidden. -
I believe I mentioned it in passing. EDIT: Can't post what I did, since I went to double-check, and can't find the reference. A new trend. Limited Edition reps of Limited Edition gens.

More like "Calgon". Ancient Chinese secret, huh. Which also reminds me -- Andrew lists his as Double AR. Whilst beautiful, don't Panerai watches have single-sided AR, in their entirety?

I'd have paid good money to see that. Especially the bit where you fire off your "gun".

how to take a quality wrist shot
Victoria replied to UB7's topic in Photo Tips, Tricks, & Tutorials...
Hey UB7. You've received great advice already, but I'd like to ask what camera you use? I checked the Properties for EXIF data, but nothing. I mentioned in a recent Wristcheck that my Sony Cybershot camera does all the work for me. Here is a review of the model I have, which has image stabilising, and a Carl Zeiss zoom lens: http://www.416-1100.com/gallery/1074988 And here is a shot taken with that camera: Did he use fancy techniques? No. "The "bee on the flowers" image (DSC00041) was taken with the camera set to "Magnifying Glass" mode, which permits auto-focusing as close as 1.0 centimeter; For this image I was approximately 2cm from the bee. This camera is one of the best I have tested in the last 6 years." Did he use Photoshop? No. "These images have been captured with SONY's DSC-T9 camera, with no out-of-camera post image processing other than cropping, and no Photoshop work whatsoever. The Camera's internal settings generally are: Program mode with Sharpness and Saturation both turned up one tick for images to DSC00043; For images DSC00044 and over, the Saturation remains up one tick, the sharpness setting was set back to Normal, and all other settings in the camera are set to Automatic." Not even a tripod. Neither do I. Although I do play with the settings, this camera is very forgiving. As you can see, the macro is SUPERB. You point, shoot, and upload on RWG. So that's in a nutshell my suggestion to you -- it might be you, but more than likely, it's your camera's limitations which prevent better shots. (Love that shot of the horses and the PAM, though...) -
It's not like she has a lot of choices.

I forgot. But I did ask if the second batch could have a better, thicker crown. Andrew was non-comittal but he's aware of it now. (It's up to the maker, anyway). I'm also VERY excited. Hope I nab one since the pics Bazonkers posted are GORGEOUS. EDIT: I know this is just a dream, but personally, I would pay $100 more for a random serial number.

Was just about to say "Dadog13", drat. Not an avatar, but another funny one is Bruce79's Lindsay Ho-han's shrugging .sig. BTW, I was going to PM one of the mods about this future avatar of mine. Since we're talking of avatars, let me know if this is too uhm, sexual.

That's exactly the case with South Florida. The home prices are STILL high, but at least they are not getting higher. The houses just sit on the market longer at the same ridiculous price (a nice house is around $750k which would've been $250k in the early 90s). A lot of Miamians, who are transplants from other States already, are headed in droves to North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. You can get mini-mansions in parts of NC for $125k (!). A friend of mine who just moved to bufu nowheresville North Carolina has a 2 storey home, on 2 acres of property which would've been possibly a million dollars in Miami. Amazing. I only say this, Phaedo, because North Carolina is a nice State, overall. They have a stable economy, as you can see, reasonable housing, and it's got scenery to die for, which as a Kiwi you would appreciate. If you can't do Florida, give North Carolina a look-see. Oh and Seattle is fantastic, I agree, POTR. It's so CLEAN. But the rain, the rain... @POTR: Ah good to know. I hate sprinkles, however, but hey.

Why thank you, Scoobs! I like how that shot turned out, and the HBB wristie, but that Harmony remote one was awkward. Scoobs, I was going to PM you to ask if your wonderful 3717 has an upgraded datewheel, but my Inbox is at 100%. I'm thinking of buying a 3717 (not for me), but it would be my first mod if I do. @Scoobs in the next page: Wow! It looks mighty fine without any mods (not even AR?? Looks good). Maybe I don't need to mod the Big Pilot, if I buy it...thanks for the info.

Oh this reminds me. Andrew said the dial had a gloss to it. Not sure if that means it's AS glossy as the DSN 082, or what, but at least it's not as matte as the photo. And BZ, was told there were only 5 made. Sniff.
-
Andrew tells me the 229s are SOLD OUT. I was going to buy one on Saturday morning, since I didn't have the funds in my acct. tonight. :( (Please double-check with Joshua and Andrew, guys. Don't take my word for it) EDIT: Quite so.

Fair enough. Let's just say that asking for the price of a gen watch AT A GEN FORUM, after having bought the rep watch is not a wisest thing to do. If someone here wished you badly, they could've "outted" you as a member of this forum, and pointed their members to this thread. You can imagine their conclusions... Trust me. I know how people are when they wish to make mischief.
-
Oh dear, that is imprudent...and suspicious.
-
Lost, I believe. Which would be my first ever package completely lost. There was one package which was mislabeled, presumed lost, but got back to me. 82 out of 83 watches...not bad a record, but it still sucks. Yeah, it's a guy's tool watch extraordinaire. I also don't wear a Sub. @TMG: Yay! Buzz! Great avatar.

Anyone noticed? TWP's HBB with engraved Rotor!
Victoria replied to ajoesmith's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes, I noticed. I also noticed the price. Worth it for the upgrade, though. -
Thanks, TMG. The member offered a refund, but I'd rather have the watch! Has that ever happened to you? Ahh, small clarification. I'm a NASA-addict, and loove the Speedy, but it's for my dad.
