I was going to say that dial looked awefully good.... ;-) Kruz - What's an A/B strap? Love the patina.
-
Funny you should ask. I just received mine back from servicing yesterday and am wearing it today for the first time in a long time, with a Brindle strap from vintagerstraps.com... I'll try to take a pic tonight.

24-7030 tube does not fit a freshly tapped case
HauteHippie replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
Yep, these go way back... Standard tap no workie. -
Thanks, M (and others). I guess the only thing would be the hour and minute hands. These are the original hands that don't have the crisp edges. I had contemplated swapping to Davidsen's hands, but his are a tad short. So, I saw no compelling reason to do the hands swap. PS - For those who were asking... It is executed here on a custom strap made by Tootall. The leather is a tumbled black and has a very nice texture and appearance. Better pics showing the strap are definitely in order!

Thanks guys. Old camera, new lens. Haven't tried a strap. I'm actually afraid to take the bracelet off because I really think I might not ever be able to get it back on... The tolerances are so tight, there's absolutely no wiggle room. And, the only way I can even think to get it off would be to use two spring bar tools simultaneously like chop sticks, which for removal might not be too bad but for installation could be very difficult.

Thank you. Yes, 7753 old case 196. Mods are: The Zigmeister superlume of dial and hands, Lello date wheel, single AR on inside of glass, palp 2.0 crown.
-
Thanks for the nice words, all... No AR on the glass per the gen. I tried to control reflections for the photo.

Monitor Audio all the way in that price range.... Maybe something from B&W, but I think Monitor Audio's are better at that price.

PS - Yea I'm playing with the camera this evening.

Introducing my franken Franck Muller Conquistador.... A smaller watch but a nice change every once in a while, and just as sharp as can be... The Recipe Old School 2892-A2 based FM Conq, fully serviced by The Zigmeister. Genuine dial, relumed by The Zigmeister (Look at the AMAZING work) Hands painted correct blue to match gen, and lumed by The Zigmeister Genuine Alligator strap (Hadley-Roma Genesis II) Photos Comments The FM Conq is definitely not a daily wear, but it is a nice change of pace from the usual clunkers and fits nicely under a shirt sleeve. The genuine dial really makes a difference (even if it lacks the punch of the rep dial), and this rep is strikingly identical to the gen on a side by side comparison. The dial I received had not been lumed, so The Zigmeister took care of that. I don't think I've ever seen better work, either. So there you have it. I owe thanks to our resident FM expert... without this fine gentleman's assistance, this watch would not have been possible.

Thanks, D.... Yea, I think he likes watches but he doesn't like big watches.... So I didn't do something like a franken 45mm PO. And, yea, he's not too knowledgeable, either... He'll immediately recognize "Rolex" but would have no clue if "Patek" was a dime store watch or not.

Thanks for the kind words, all. It is truly a wonderful piece, one that I now almost don't want to give a way... Regarding the date wheel, yes, it is correct for the ETA movement and advances in the correct direction. I had accidentally labeled it a 3035 in the original post, but it's a 3055 and I've updated the post.

My brother recently received a Ph.D. that has been a loooong time coming. Over the past year or so I've been collecting the parts for a gift to present to him at graduation, and finally it has almost come together. He's not a "big watch guy" and doesn't know much about watches in general, but I know his style and that this is something he'll very much appreciate. So here are the stats and a quick pic: Franken DateJust recipe: Genuine 16200 case (w/ lug holes) + caseback Genuine smooth bezel Genuine rhodium DateJust dial with roman markers Genuine 295C crystal (on the way; currently a poor stand-in is in place) Genuine 24-603-0 crown and tube Genuine 78360 oyster bracelet Genuine 558 end pieces Genuine 3055 date wheel Replica no-lume hands Longines (ETA) 2892-A2 movement Stilty spacer ring The Zigmeister's tender and loving touch. Lots of Stilty's advice. Result: Comments: The case set did come with what was supposed to be a gen crystal, but there's no question in my mind that it's not gen. Plus, the cyclops is currently crooked. That'll be remeied, hopefully this weekend if the new one arrives.... I would have preferred to use a 3135 date wheel instead, but the 3055 is what was available at the time and the font is VERY VERY close on inspection. So I'm happy with it as is.... The bracelet is fantastic. Genuine bracelets (having many noob sub bracelets) are so under rated. It's hard to describe.... Lastly, the dial. The pic simply doesn't do it justice, and I'll be taking more (hopefully better) pics before shipping it off, but the rhodium dial is IMO absolutely gorgeous in person. I love the combo, especially with the fully brushed oyster bracelet.

No it won't, but I'd be interested in the 295C if you have one you don't need.... :-)

Avitt DLC'd Pam 001B Project Completed! (Lots of Pictures)
HauteHippie replied to cc's topic in The Panerai Area
Right, M. PVD doesn't refer to the type of coating, but rather to the process for applying the coating. When you get AR through me, for example, it is also applied via PVD. So, the terminology being used in the thread is a little misleading. All coated PAMs have undergone PVD application. Some probably used TiAlN, and some may well have used DLC. (I still don't believe TiN was really ever used, but that might just be me). In any event, though, I'd certainly not hesitate to send avitt my PAM 28 because the results he's achieving are phenomenal. -

Whoa! I'd thought that the DLC process was "too" black for PAMs but without question, avitt nailed the Pam PVD look ! ! ! AWESOME results!!! -
