  1. Very nice duo! You're lucky to have the old style date wheel for this one. It really makes the watch!!
  2. Yea, you could be right.... I had thought I noticed the bezel marker stopped at each hour marker (12 of them) around the dial and so one complete revolution around the dial took 12 "clicks"... But that really wouldn't make sense, so obviously I wasn't paying attention.
  3. Ah. Well that shows how rep-centric with Rollies I am!! BTW, the last position on the GMT IIc was moving the minute hand... I do believe the 2892-based Omegas have the independently adjustable 24 hour hands though, right? That's how the 2892 GMT movements in my PAM reps work, anyhow.
  4. Yep! Very smoothly and effortlessly with no clicks. How does the rep compare functionality-wise to what I described?
  5. Thanks for the great pictorial. I need another white dial watch, and this will probably be it!!
  6. I was in a Rolex AD this afternoon, and asked to see the GMT IIc they had in the case. I took about 3-4 minutes to really play with it and here are some observations, for those who haven't yet handled one: * The AR on the cyclops is quite subtle. Because of the large dome on the cyclops as compared to a watch crystal, reflections are picked up from wide angles. The AR doesn't eliminate them to the extent it would on a crystal. Still, though, the AR does subdue bright jewelery store overhead lights and makes the date window more readable. * The GMT hand is just a 24 hour hand. It can not be set independently. (Probably due to the rotating bezel) * The hour hand and minute hand can be set independently! Kinda cool. I've never seen this feature. * The bezel has 12 positions around the dial, and doesn't "click" into place. It sort of softly glides into each position. * This is a darn nice watch. I now understand the hype over the rep!! The $6800 price tag was a bit of a turn off, but I still might consider owning the gen some day. FWIW -Chief
  7. He does excellent case work. I think he has a refinishing business of some sort.... I saw the Super Avenger he did for himself and was in awe. Congrats!
  8. Let's do shots out of BT's Rollie!!
  9. Ha! I go that BJ's almost every time I'm traveling down there... Unfortunately, I won't be on the 16th. Enjoy the GTG!
  10. Droooool.... Congrats, fgd!!
  11. Congrats, BT!! You'll get lots of enjoyment out of this purchase for sure.
  12. Nice! I saw a Breitling decorated ETA 7750 on Ebay not too long ago for $550 and almost snagged it for a similar project. Perhaps I should have. I love this one! Thanks for the pics.
  13. T - You've turned a dud secs@6 watch into a super rep here! Love the DLC and graphite solution!! -Chief
  14. R, My aged Ubi insert looks great IMO. I did this about a year ago now... No good pics at the moment, but you can see it off to the right in the pic below. It came pretty close to the gen dial that's installed in the watch, and I like the look.
  15. The hard work is paying off, lani!
  16. Great idea, T! I think you've got a winner there!
  17. The results speak for themselves. Fantastic work. I would definitely say you've indeed perfected the CG mod!
  18. Many of these eastern block countries believe that by simply getting in bed with the West, e.g. donating troops to an America-led coalition, etc, they'll be automatically protected by the US. But Russia knows that the US isn't going to step in and is sending a message to all the other countries in the region that he's boss and don't expect the US to get in a war to save them. Georgia has closer ties to the West and has sought NATO membership. Russia can prevent this by establishing a military presence there. Does Putin necessarily want to take the republics? I don't think so. But he has been quoted as saying the collapse of the Soviet Union represented the 'greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.'
  19. Some people just can't pull off wearing that model with the shiny bracelet IMO.... But on your wrist, lani, it looks great. Enjoy!
  20. Great pics, Lani... And this watch has comfortably taken it's place at the top of my list.... I wear mine more than any other in my collection. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
  21. I am right. I know the specifics of what is used on eyeglasses and what I use. Don't worry.
  22. Yep, apples and oranges. Lani is correct. Also with sunglasses and/or eyeglasses you're warned to never use anything other than a special micro fiber cloth to clean it, so that you don't scratch the coating. But this is not the case with the good AR.
  23. Sorry if these questions were answered somewhere else... but what is the case diameter and the strap width and length? Thanks.
  24. So are you thinking that there isn't any AR on the gen.... or ... ? I'm confused. My guess is that Windex isn't detrimental to the AR, and that's all. I don't know what it'd do to the AR I'm using, and have never been warned about it by the lab. Another issue with the trial run mags, aside from those already mentioned, is that they had UV cement on them. This stuff melts in the high temp AR chamber, so we have to wonder if liquified glue in the chamber adversely effected the results as well. Anyway, I think the issues will easily be resolved and the next run of mags will be as good as they can possibly be.
