  1. The left one is a rep, the right one is a damn good rep and probably gen... I'd actually need some views that aren't provided in your pics to be totally comfortable with the diagnosis, though.
  2. OK. Yea, I agree, the threads are very clean.
  3. The new threads turned out great. Running the shaft through the die while still on the collet is a great way to do it. At what RPM setting were you running the lathe though, or did you just spin the shaft by hand?
  4. A fine gesture among two fine gentlemen.... Nice bottle. Let us know how you like it. It comes from a vineyard not too far from me, and as I recall is the oldest of the vineyards in its region having been planted back in the late 50s or early 60s timeframe... They turn out a great cab from grapes grown on those vintage vines, and I've only had the '99.
  5. Maybe these are old news, but I'm just discovering Sandave straps and am wowed. My pocketbook is pleading for mercy.... hXXp://www.network54.com/Forum/353393/thread/1215645988/last-1215668838/Take+a+look%21%21++Great+looking+MONSTER+straps%21%21++Crocs+-+Sharky+-+More Copy to browser and replace hXXp with http.
  6. That's a good deal.
  7. Behind on the picture taking, but as I look down at my wrist I see a 2892 based FM Conquistador with gen silver dial that was relumed by The Zigmeister, custom painted hands also lumed by The Zigmeister, on a black Hirsch Genesis II gator strap.... The dressiest piece in my collection at the moment.
  8. Wow, great project there, R & R. Very cool stuff!
  9. Gorgeous piece... Love the DIY single AR there, too.
  10. Best wishes, W. You old fart.... err better fart.
  11. Love that one. In the end, however, I think for dress I prefer simplicity. The Calatrava is one of my favorites: Patek Phillipe Calatrava 18k white gold
  12. On my sub too: 6.95 x 5.45 Incorrectly sized noobmariner cyclops isn't as far off as I had thought: 6.99 x 5.51 but amazingly noticeable side by side.
  13. Yea, they're not gen Rolex, but if they're sapphire and designed to gen specs then they're a great deal. I might suggest to lanikai to verify one sample before taking mass orders... Speaking from experience, of course.
  14. Count me in for a couple. If they prove to be of accurate mag power, I'll take another 20 or so.
  15. BTW, it would be best to specify a central thickness and edge thickness before ordering. This way you'll be able to basically specify the 2.5X mag through dimension. I am not going to remove my cyclops to take these measurements, but will try to provide fairly close visual estimates with the calipers.
  16. I can provide measurements with calipers later tonight. My sub has a perfect magnifier.
  17. Interesting, lani. A couple things I will throw out there: 1. Not all rep Rolex magnifiers are the same. Measure the diameter from flat side to flat side. The old "Noobmariner" subs, for example, had magnifiers that were too wide compared to gen in this dimension. 2. A mass produced sapphire magnifier of these dimensions should cost no more than $10 USD. Small custom jobs would be much higher, and you'd probably be looking at $25 minimum anyhow. So that would mean 0 savings over this crystal magnifier combo. But I could swear that loose magnifiers used to be available on Ebay and elsewhere. What about Ofrei? They used to sell generic Rolex crystal parts?
  18. I bought a krysworks "2.5X" Rolex cyclops once and it was probably more like 1.5X. So, avoid them for sure.
  19. Clearly us WIS nerds are modding watches more for ourselves than for weird MILFs. Those who can live with fixable flaws have an advantage over me, for sure. Because I, for one, get too easily distracted by them. Can't wait to see how lanikai's cyclops turns out!
  20. While it's true that they don't know there is AR on their magnifier, they would certainly notice something odd about a watch whose magnifier looked different... It's quite a drastic difference, and I don't think even the casual know-nothing Rolex owner would miss it.
  21. No, I won't be offering the service. But there are a couple US based people who I think will do it. You can PM me for their names, but I will tell you up front I know nothing about the quality of their work. So you'll want to do you due diligence before sending anything to them.
  22. How does the rep clasp and clasp lock compare to the gen? Gen:
  23. I'd go with real AR. Nothing else is going to look.... real. And it makes a big difference. I should be able to start offering AR on GMT IIc magnifiers for $30 during regular AR runs.
  24. Gorgeous. The PVD is great (we have to talk ), and The Zigmeister's work is flawless as always. A FANTASTIC piece!
  25. What July Fourth Means to Me by President Ronald Reagan (reprinted by permission of The Ronald Reagan Foundation) For one who was born and grew up in the small towns of the Midwest, there is a special kind of nostalgia about the Fourth of July. I remember it as a day almost as long-anticipated as Christmas. This was helped along by the appearance in store windows of all kinds of fireworks and colorful posters advertising them with vivid pictures. No later than the third of July
