Look on the bright side: if you don't think the mag looks good with AR on the dome then you can always remove it and you'll still have it on the underside, where you think it belongs. Truth be told, though... Having dealt with AR for a quite a while now, single and double sided, I personally don't think there is any way the dome isn't coated on the gen GMT IIc mag based on the pics I have seen. And I don't think Windex will strip it. It might discolor it, though.... Same situation if you've ever had car windows tinted - soap and water only, no Windex unless you want the film to yellow.

GREAT looking pieces there, lani. Love 'em both and have a pumpkin PO itch to scratch now!

Two things could be effecting the AR results here: (a) The mag thought to be sapphire is actually mineral - we've seen rep makers do this to us before without us knowing; AR lab screwed up and coated the flat side instead of the domed side. Good news is that if (a) is true then it will be solved with lanikai's new mags which came off sapphire lenses vs. these mags for the trial which came off rep crystals. And if is true then we can prevent it from happening again by simply having the lab coat BOTH sides. We know that on sapphire this coating will absolutely make a crystal disappear, so after working out the bugs we'll be in good shape. I think you will still catch reflections due to the large curvature of a magnifier compared to a crystal, but results should be much improved over what we attained in the trial run. Thanks guys!

Unknown smudge marks on UPO Lite crystal. Comments?
HauteHippie replied to jitai's topic in The Omega Area
A fair number (I would say 5% that I see) of rep crystals simply have defects. These defects become much more apparent after my AR coating goes on and all reflections are eliminated leaving the defects to stand out prominently. So, it could simply be in the crystal itself, or as others have mentioned, it could be an issue with the coating on the interior surface. -
I love NFL football, have since the age of 3 (as the notes transcribed to the pages of my baby book reveal), but hate preseason... Nevertheless I am guilty of watching the first half (of course), but all the while kept thinking "How the hell could summer already be over?!"

Good advice. FYI, some cape cod wrapped around a felt bob on the dremel works well, too. It's far less messy than green rouge and less aggressive as well.

Nice shots, R. I've always really enjoyed seeing your photos of this particular piece. Love it!

Simply fantastic!

I'm a maybe. I have to get out to Yankee stadium this summer before they tear it down and might be able to coordinate the trip around this GTG. TBD

Someone here probably knows the answer to the 7753 retrofit question. I myself do not know. Mine had a 7753 in the first place. Good luck!

Sure is!

Welcome aboard.... I've always wanted to visit Sao Paulo.

Agreed. And after last night I *am* sure that my Yankees can't.

As a Yankees fan, I too love the trade. I also love that Manny will be in LA.... This ought to be fun.

Looks good for a first go at it, R! Which body did you get? Recommendations include the 100/2.8 macro lens (incredible for these shots), a good sturdy tripod (gitzo is a personal favorite) and cable shutter release, shooting in aperture priority mode and setting a small aperture (big F stop number) so as to give large depth of field, and above all else have fun! PS Didn't know you still had a 16610? -

GMTIIc Mags update.. all mags removed from xtals
HauteHippie replied to lanikai's topic in The Rolex Area
Great work. BTW, R has two of these that have now been coated and are on their way back to Hawaii... so in a few short days he'll have the first AR coated GMT IIc mags in his hands. -Chief -
James, John, Jack, whoever you are, Josh and Andrew have their own issues and are merely two (or should we consider them one) dealers out of many we have here to choose from. Your myopic fascination with these two and only these two tells me one thing: there's more than meets the eye here and something very interesting is going on behind the scenes between you. Something that has probably just come to a head, causing you to join the forum today and attempt to come clean mostly by bad mouthing them. Look, I have absolutely no problem with you selling a $500 watch for $1800, assuming that you're your providing a 100% accurate description of the item and standing behind your product. If you can get $1800, good for you. I'd bet that your buddies Josh and Andrew have higher volume and sales figures at $500 a pop though. But I'm not going to get into the economics with you, and anyone who spends any time on RWG will know better than to pay your obscene prices anyhow. Now, what I *DO* have a problem with is that you are or have been selling a $500 watch for $1800 by providing ANYTHING BUT a 100% accurate description but instead on the basis of horse [censored]. (1) Your watches are not exclusive to you [even if Joshandrew doesn't sell them], and suggesting they are is a deceptive advertising tactic. (2) You advertise gen dials, but then state they're actually rep dials that can fit in gen cases. Well, of course 1:1 rep dials fit in gen cases just as gen dials fit in 1:1 rep cases. Nothing special there. And claiming your rep dials are gen is simply fraud. You must not know we build frankens here. (3) You claim to stand behind your product, but real world testimonial reveals that your post-sale service is sketchy at best. So, really, calling you a scammer is being kind. I can think of many other appropriate terms with which you'd probably be much less happy. And lastly, I really couldn't care less what you do with your TT sub... But I do have a couple choice suggestions for you. Good luck next time, scammer.
-
"John" - The reason you're listed as a scam dealer here is that you're [A] full of [censored]; selling the very same watches available from numerous other dealers at inflated prices; [C] the recipient of much poor feedback from our members; and [D] full of [censored].

I wouldn't count on the Seiko. I posted the link to the Omega movement because it is an ETA 2893.

I don't know if it'll work... Look at an SMP GMT pic and see if the hand stacking matches. It so, it *should* just be a matter of installing the correct hour wheel, canon pinion, etc. It already doesn't include the hour wheel, so you'd have to buy one from Jules Borel anyhow. Generally, from what I have heard, 2836 -> 2892 from a stem alignment perspective works very well using the existing spacer ring... so I think it's a matter of hands and dial clearances from the wheels. That's just a guess, though.
