  1. Check your car. Every now and then I'll take a watch off and stick it in the glove compartment and then forget about it.
  2. Gorgeous, R. Really. Very beautiful. A nice black gator strap with black stitch would finish it off handsomely.
  3. Yes.
  4. Below is an article on great [censored]. Now, I've always known that great [censored] could be trouble, however I never knew great [censored] were this dangerous. But, alas, I can't imagine what kind of place the world would be without great [censored]. Enjoy. --- http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/science/biology_evolution/article6826448.ece A much-loved garden bird has been exposed as a ruthless killer after being observed seeking out and eating hibernating bats. The great [censored] were provoked into the unusual behaviour after suffering food shortages during particularly harsh winter weather. Over the course of two winters, ornithologists observed the birds searching for, killing and eating 18 bats in caves in the B
  5. A tribute to the New York City Fire Department members who made the ultimate sacrifice on a day we should NEVER forget... Turn on your audio. Have a handkerchief handy. http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/media/tribute/tribute.html
  6. I believe the Timewalker movement and dial come out the top of the case, rather than the bottom... After getting past that hurdle the rest should be smooth sailing.
  7. Gorgeous! Wear 'em well. PS Is it just me or does it look like a standard ETA date wheel on the gen Newman panda?
  8. Wow, so many man boots in one thread! I've a variety of dress shoes but inevitably come back to the few pairs of Allen-Edmonds in the closet - the Soho (black), Weybridge (chili burnished calf - gorgeous!), and Hinsdale (black). (Edit: Oops forgot the Evanston (Walnut calf)) Simple, classy, comfortable, and extremely well made. All purchased at a 50%+ discount from retail prices found at places like Zappos.
  9. Ditto! Very impressive FGD. Whew!!
  10. Yep, as indicated in PM, the better pics clear up the crown confusion. I also thought the crown looked far too big in the first pic, but as it turned out, just a bad pic. One thing to notice in this pic though: The right CG appears to have had some shaping done on the outer surface, while the left side CG does not.
  11. Typically a franken is a rep that has many parts replaced with genuine. Franken Rolex Submariners, for example, often contain genuine bezel inserts, crowns, crown tubes. Sometimes genuine crystals, and less often, genuine dials. Many other frankens often do contain genuine dials, though. And the dial is perhaps the most important franken ingredient.
  12. Yellow gold, to be specific.
  13. Some ebay pics... (BTW it looks like the WM9 date mag is slightly weak also - but next you'll tell me it's a gen crystal )
  14. You sure about the crown - I mean did it come in sealed Rolex packaging? It looks big in that pic. Or it could be the CGs are a little short. Hard to tell. But something looks off there. Maybe it's me!
  15. The first thing my eyes were drawn to on the WM9 were the bulky CGs and the honkin crown... they were a quick give away. I'd say the CGs need modding on the outer surfaces to get them right.
  16. I initially said rep and rep... But if either one is gen, it's the left. The reason I said rep initially for the left one is that I think the date font is slightly too large, similar to the date wheel overlay used on the noobmariner. So maybe a rep with some gen parts. Again, though, hard to tell. These things have gotten very good over the years!!
  17. Nice!!! I'm very jealous. Still look for an '89 myself.
  18. Well there's really not enough detail to say with certainty... But I'm going with rep and rep.
  19. The one in the pics is not for sale, but there is one for sale at the moment... I've been debating with myself over what its value should be. The price is down from when I saw one for sale a couple years ago. But I don't know if it is down far enough. Hard to say. 300 pieces. Not much sales history.
  20. OK, this is a gen here, boys (and it's not mine)... Tell me what you think. Only 300 of these exist in the world. In 2003 Omega made a special run of 300 Black Sub-dial/White Dial Speedmasters for the Mitsukoshi department store chain in Japan. Not to be confused with the 35th Anniversary edition which had a similar (but different) dial... Here are a few pics: Remind anyone of this at all?
  21. The ability to blur backgrounds is enough of a reason itself to use DSLR over P&S, and obviously it doesn't end there. If I were only shooting birthday parties, I suppose full frame would be difficult to justify. But I do a lot of shooting. And at least half seems to be indoors. ISO 3200 with hardly any grain would be an absolute godsend. You have no idea. Anyhow, I'm about to roll over the shot counter on my XT for the second time. And technically, I'm not supposed to have gotten this many actuations from it either -- another advantage of the pro/semi-pro bodies. But for now it's still kicking.
  22. Some blackberry 8900 photos for comparison... I'd say the iphone photos are much better, but the comparison probably isn't very good since I think I'm fully zoomed in all three of these pics. I think the aperture gets really small at full zoom.. And all are hand held, not even resting on anything for stability. Two outdoors: One in very low light (dimly lit club):
