Help! New RWG not working on my computers
southcoast68 replied to Steve52's topic in General Discussion
I had the same trouble with IE8, would crash the browser before even getting to the first page. Here is the kicker, my laptop is a 6 year old Mac that has not had its operating system or web browser updated in about 2 years, and it opened the new RWG perfectly, Microsoft does it again . I switched to using Firefox and everything works great. What I did is keep IE8 to use for other sites and for my wife to use and made sure it was still listed as the default browser. Then, I installed Firefox, had it bring in all my bookmarks from IE8 and just launch it from my desktop icon. This way, I got IE8 for most stuff and Firefox for the watch stuff, and maybe in time, both my wife and I will get used to Firefox enough to abandon IE all together. Cheers -

Ahhh, you must be a fan of the TV show N.C.I.S., I love it when Agt. Gibbs administers the dope slap to someone deserving. I must admit, I feel as though I need to say thanks to this community everyday. The knowledge, support and sense of community here is second to non IMO. So, without further ado, A BIG THANKS from me to ALL the members here, especially folks like Ubi, your posts are truly inspiring to me, and even if I don't say it often, your knowledge and presence here is greatly appreciated. Well, at least they got the "home plate" markers closer to the chapter ring on this version, even if the colors are way off. -
Yay, were back!!! To admin, all the hard work is much appreciated!! Cheers

I hate you, no, just kidding, wonderful work as usual Ubi. Im just struggling getting anything done in the hobby right now. Hopefully I can get into more projects when money is not so tight. How is the rep crown and tube on this one? Many POs' experienced these parts stripping out in short order. A gen crown and tube, when you get to it, will be an important upgrade. Enjoy that Omega!!!! Cheers

Steve Fleischer wrote: .I bought a Rolex 34 years ago for $900. Seemed expensive then, but reasonable over the life of a watch. Great watch and I enjoyed it. I wanted to get the watch cleaned (done every 5 years), and the Rolex dealer asked $600 for the job (claimed that the cost of parts had gone up!). My watch isn -
Hey now, he has an Invicta in that collection, he can't be all that bad, I guess he wears that one while tooling aroung town in that bad-ass Taurus . Eccentric collection for sure, mostly ugly, to each his own, I guess.

I use a kodak Easy Share 5.0 mp camera set at the "closeup" setting, used with a light box made from an old cardboard box and a desklamp above. I run the pictures through "picture-it 9" to resize and refine them. I usually come up with a result like this; And to think, I still remember bringing film to the "Photomat" to get my pictures developed. Ok, now I feel old. Cheers -
You can't handle the truth....sorry, just couldn't resist. Best advice, read, read and read some more, be a sponge for a while, and enjoy the ride. When you are ready for a watch, go easy and don't go for the $500-$1000 super rep right away. Start with vendors here on the board and be fully aware that even a great rep will have its faults. If perfection is what you are after, this hobby may not agree with you, some folks put thousands into franken projects and are still not 100% satisfied sometimes. Pace yourself and welcome to the best group of watch lovers in the world, you will learn more about watches and thier workings here than anywhere else. Welcome

I found it interesting that Aldrin's Speedmaster was lost and presumed stolen while in transit to the Smithsonian for inclusion in it's displays, according to C. Maddox's website. I wonder where it is today? Happy anniversary to the moon landing, an exciting point in American history. My faux chrono speedy copy;

What Do All These Brand Names Mean?
southcoast68 replied to MasterOfPuppets's topic in General Discussion
Correct, Rolex is universally pronounceable, is not someones name, and means nothing in any language, much the same idea as the name "Kodak". Neat thing is that these two trade names actually sound like they describe the product they represent. Cheers -
Franken DJ 16233 cal 3135 to 2824 or 2892-A2

I have used the Borel spacer ring on a couple of DJs', and yes, they do need filing down on the OD to fit the case. Both my projects used the older plastic crystal case (16014) and I did not have any real issues with the stem/case tube alignment. If you can get one from Stilty, I would think that would be a better way to go since it is made to fit the movement and case, and his are made from metal, giving your finished project a little more weight. The Borel rings are made from nylon and are lightweight. Yes, you will need to replace the hour wheel et.al. to avoid the hands from striking the hour markers, unless you get one of those cool looking "mystery" black onyx dails that have no hour markers at all . Good luck with the project. Cheers -
Here is just a guess, but I wonder if it has something to do with the lume being a lighter more "peachy" looking orange that is glowing through a green tinted crystal making it look blue in the dark? It would be much like a color distortion one would realize looking through a pair of green tinted sungasses. Either way, its a cool effect.

Sheesh, you're gonna make me want to buy one of these, great review!! The few flaws you mentioned are really not noticable and the model number on the gen caseback is in fact just printed on a clear sticker that gets removed, so that is really not a flaw at all. I think that this latest version is likely the best we are going to see from this model Milgauss. Great job on a great review, and I love the opening picture, the one with the power lines, nicely done. Cheers

Good lord, I just watched the TAG Heuer one, to think that many have been worried that their rep would be called out in public, by folks like this. -
