  1. I've been around a little bit more than the new usual, credited to the Thanksgiving break. Noticed that I'm missing pretty much everything about here, the camaraderie amongst members, the new watches, heck even the "who has the best sub" noobs. I also miss the expectation and anticipation of ordering a new watch, based on what I read here. (Hopefully during the summer I can allot myself some dough to buy something.) I miss this place like it was home. And 2nd semester next year I'll be transferring to University of Hawai'i Hilo..... As a Geology major, a campus sitting on the base of an active volcano is perfect. Shall I save for the move, or for a new watch haha. 4k mile move is not easy. But this place will still be here. Mostly, I've realized that I miss the people that drive this place. This is more than honor amongst thieves, we may be engaged in something illegal, but unlike thieves, we have a common interest besides money. The help members gave to others here.....AMAZING......advice, astonishing..... Most of us are here not only to research and communicate, but to help. Gen communities (and yes, this place, RWG is a community) seem to somewhat revolve around bragging rights. The watches might be fake here, but I think the members and posters here are as genuine as people can be. And thats what's great. Normal people with a similar obsession. Most of us would get along with the other famously in person. Hell, I'll call this a family. Keep it going RWG, and for the love of god last forever so I can be permanently present here once I finally obtain my degree. Steve
  2. It's kind of interesting to see the Rolex prices dropping. Rolex is associated with wealth and luxury, and for the wealthy the economy is different. Case in point, during the housing slump my boss put his 9 acre log cabin estate on the market for 1.2 million. He was assuming that with the current trend, it would take months to over a year to sell. It sold in 2 days. New buyers paid cash. The wealthy are way less affected by downturns in the economy than the average Joe, but yes, they are still affected. To see price ranges drop so much for collectible watches is kind of odd to me. Of course, take in to consideration that maybe many of the collectors of Rolex are guys like us, that may account for the fact that there are less people willing to pay so much for something they really want. The wealthy may just be getting great deals for now.
  3. cool looking pictures friend...good job
  4. Ok, I misread the topic Freddy, I read it like "a funny thing happened on the method to leave feedback" Foolish me but now I get it
  5. Freddy, Did these guys sell gen parts? I still see our fave slimeball selling aftermarket hands and bezels etc. Sometimes the things ebay does doesn't even make sense. Take down someone selling legit products and leave the grey market on....really weird.... And what about feedback? (from the title)
  6. I'm out of the game right now bro.....college and all. Sold all my V72 daytona stuff. But anyone else is welcome to try!
  7. Anyone ever think of having a singer base dial refinished by kirk rich? apparently they do the refinishing for the RSC's..... They might not wanna do it but if you had a singer V72 dial, and removed all the paint and stuff on top they can't say it's NOT rolex..... Or maybe some of the rep dials for V72 are good enough that the company would just refinish it w/o question?
  8. OLD SCHOOL: Long gone, like the original watch, but not forgotten, like the man, my DW 6265. Crap I loved that baby......but that covered books for my major.......A's in the major are better than when I should book from one class to the other according to what time it is. Still wish I could have kept her tho. And as for Paul ( the man, not the watch) *as freddy once said* Sorry to see him go, met him while young, he was the first star I ever came in contact with, and his mother was in the same retirement community as great gramma.....he was a really nice guy and told me my dreams can be my future....too bad his advice didn't kick in for 15 years. And Paul....been studying, forget TV, loved your advice, Grams loved you (thanks for million dollar smiling her at VDO) you made soo many people happy and inspired so many dreams.
  9. T, I'm sure we'll all miss you, and I love the example you set for the forum about making this a place for friends, a place to cherish, and a place to support. In my own way, I've been where you are in the sense that things just need to be dropped. Real family comes first, and you are a real man for taking care of the things you need to do. I have seen too many fathers try to keep things the way they are in order to maintain their previous level of normality, hell my father did that. So cheers to you for being a man and taking care of the kids instead of trying to stay perpetually youthful and reckless like so many other people out there. I think you are doing the right thing and hope you do well with it. And I hope to see you around somewhere too. Steve
  10. Oh whatever, this watch got me laid twice already...... At least that was the starting point. I never even had to say anything, whenever someone handled it they were like "wow this is really solid" or something to the affect that they had no doubt.....so I'm technically not a liar......and 18 yr olds.......ummmm......fish in a barrell anyone? On the serious side, my bezel numbers are too wide and too deep, and the inner clasp markings suck..... the gen markings on the clasp are really dark compared to the rep. So don't take it off, and damn, its good enough
  11. i restored a beautiful art deco bedroom set, did a crackle varnish thing to make it look older, like it was, but still visually pleasing. Spent so many hours on it. Then my craphead brother took it before I found a new apartment, and I never saw it again. I never took pics of it, so all I have is memory. Great mahogany which i sanded down and restored, seriously took me a month and that kid ruined it in 2 weeks........
  12. No offense but with that logic, you can assume that because a sub costs 1800 on a bad site, it has a 27J swiss movement, and solid 18k links....Just sayin. More money does get higher quality, but not in a market such as ours. And yes, why is there no chinese copy of the v72? seriously. The DW MM is supposed to be a V23 copy, but from what I understand, gen valjoux parts won't fit or won't work. You need to get the parts off of another broken mystery movement.
  13. thats a good idea. bittorrent just doesn't work here. I think they must be blocking it somehow. I can try at home though.
  14. Ok, so I'm not the only one in college here......any of you other guys found anyone in the far east who copies books? I know the QC would suck, but whatever they would charge would be way smaller than what we pay. 185 for a new book? in college....ZOMG!!!!!..... They rip almost everything in china.....wheres the books?
  15. THANKS And as a proud student also, we'll have to trade some uni stories together after I get some more time here under the belt. PS I'm avoiding looking at your profile so you don't get any ammunition to say stuff to me lol..not easy
  16. Yesterday HMMMM? Well your view on mine was Aug 21. So now you have a time machine? I'll chill now so you don't go back and prevent me from being born.
  17. daily beater and 1 of 2 reps left...(unless I finish 1 more and start counting my real beater)
  18. I have 222 views in a little under a year on mine......... And guess who one of the last ones to look at it was? Yes, YOU! Now, YOU mind YOUR own business!!!! And yes, do let us know when you're done with Tila.......
  19. Thanks pug. I'll DL this tomorrow. FF3 sucked for me, don't remember exactly why but I downgraded to FF2 after trying opera, which was nice, but had some problems on pages like paypal. FF2 so far is my favorite.
  20. I was watching that one too. Chief, do you have a snipe program? I really want one but there's so many.
  21. What board do you think this guy researched on? http://www.ioffer.com/selling/swisstimes 1200 for a GMT IIc ???????? Same serial as the ones we have....probably stole A or J's pics too.....
  22. Pug, did you change your avatar or does my new machine not display it properly? All other animated gifs work. Just wondering. And the story is told here also: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/30/us/polit...amp;oref=slogin I'm going to go watch Escape from New York so I can see what life will be like for my kids.
  23. The watch in the OP has a huge caseback too. Kinda looks like it's designed to fit a 7750, like freddy's DW that came with rotored 7750. The teeth are way thick on this gold one.
  24. Interesting. I don't believe in conspiracy theories very much either. People can't keep their mouths shut. Especially politicians that can boost their career by blowing the whistle. Thats just the "light" version of my opinion on conspiracy theories. As for Area 51, it's not a conspiracy, its a SECRET. Big difference. Still very intriguing and interesting. Love the topic.
