  1. haha no. It's like a big container, cylindrical and a tap at the bottom with an ice container down the centre of it.
  2. Yup, both have sandwich dials, had me fooled for a minute though. And that spreadsheet though updated by me (and yes I need to do the more recent update with the recent announcements) was originally created and maintained by sssurfer so all credit goes to him for everything.
  3. Curious to know what you think is the issue with PeteM's one. There are a couple out there that I've seen that appear to be near 1:1 with gen in terms of logo placement and angle. And small note on this, whilst staring at 000 gen pics, there are variances as well. Some will point to the very tip of the "E" in PanErai, others will point closer to the middle of the bottom stroke.
  4. Stunning job, love the 089 and what you've done
  5. He did and they are there. An IWC Aquatimer Cousteau, Split Second and a 3717. Just everything else outnumbered them
  6. Don't think v2 is available anymore. With DSN, its get them while they last unfortunately...That's why sometimes his dials are great, sometimes they get shitty
  7. SEL fitment is a funny thing I must admit. Considering I'm more a PAM guy. I just don't see the issue many are harping on about. I look at yours and mibne, and perhaps in one photo with the bracelet pressed up, it looks like there's a larger gap than usual. That said, I defer to you guys for Rollie advice. Will be giving it a good wash and polish over the weekend, so we'll see how it does on the glamor & glitz side after.
  8. Agreed By-Tor. The only thing is, I had this on the table next to a SSD (Takashi's) and didn't pay heed to it. Lighting was well...soft lighting (we were having a GTG nothing more) and the difference in sheen and color was obvious when we started looking at them both hand in hand. Perhaps my piece has issues, or Taka polished his (never asked) but there is a difference. With reference to the gen, again it was his wrist next to mine, and we held it up to compare under flouresant lighting. Again a difference. Doesn't bother me heaps, but its there. The more obvious one is the pearl for me and I'll probably swap in a gen insert. I am curious though, thinking of getting the 316F bracelets and swapping out the links between the two, keeping the WM9 clasp and see how that goes.
  9. Good to hear. I have a good mix of gens and reps in my collection so it aint a big deal. When people ask, I just ask them what you think. Or I do say "Yeah it's a rep, straight from the markets of Thailand" and wink They can take it whichever way they want. It doesn't matter to me cause I do have the funds to purchase these pieces, just that I'd rather have that money elsewhere working for me, or for me to enjoy in other ways. For some though, you can't beat a gen, especially for movements.
  10. Bit tough mate, one's been sold, the other is cased.
  11. If you didn't care to pass off a watch as a gen, then what are you doing on a rep board? Sorry, but the fact is, and it doesn't matter who, if you're into reps, you want a copy of the gen so you can appreciate it as a gen and people or yourself recognise it as one. Not so much as fraud to sell as a gen, but the impression is of one. Why else would there be so many reviews on our reps vs gens, so much 3rd party modders offering their services? 3rd party parts? Regardless, the other tell would be the sheen of the SS. I haven't polished it yet, but compared to a stock SSDv2 last night, the sheen is darker, and compared to a gen Sub, hand in hand comparison, it's noticeably darker.
  12. Pearl is one. The laser etched crown...well, it's a clark crystal so its a known fact that it won't have that and its always something you can explain away, serviced etc, so I won't consider it a tell. The other one is something that all Rolex SS models suffer from
  13. Just received it. Thanks BK! And within the 1month timeframe promised Amazing piece, but anal me has spotted two tells But since this ain't a review, I won't go into it yet
  14. DSN has a new dial for the 232 :undecided: yes again. Some members have it already and I noticed it. It's got a few more changes than expected. Since some have been asking for pics, I did this quickly before sending out my old dail. V3 is on the left, v2 is on the right. Lume shot, v2 is on the left, v3 is on the right As you can see, the major changes and pros/cons are; Better: 1) new dial has thicker cutouts for numbers and indicies 2) color is slightly darker than the older one 3) bar in A is correct height now and printing sharper 4) Surprisingly, the lume is stronger and lasts longer 5) LSML placement is centered Cons: 1) New dial tail in 2 is too short and has a more bulbuous curvature 2) New dial tip in 3 is too short. 3) semi-con not sure, top plate is very thick, which makes it a little tough to get into Cartel cases and in some places, it looks like there is a small gap between top plate and bottom lume plate. 4) Cutout in 1 of "12", the internal cutout is rounded, whereas in 2nd gen, its sharp.
  15. Couple of us, a tower of beer, and a lot of watches. A hell of a good night with many gens and many more reps of astounding degrees of goodness Sorry for the crappy Nexus One pics, didn't bring my camera and didn't bring my whole collection Everything on the table Panerai Group shots Rolex Group shots Note: Many of those above are gen vintage Rolexes. Many more watches, some not yet pictured Hope the other guys who did take pics will show them. Had a good night and most definitely will be in on the next one. You guys who missed it, try and come then! Highlight for me was seeing a gorgeous collection of gen Tudor Snowflakes. Downside was, realised that they are really too small for me to carry off.
  16. Kickass, looks almost like the first gen PVD. Wanted to ask though, any way to darken SS?
  17. Yes you can, but get a new stem for safety. No need for so many questions marks too.
  18. To my knowledge, the springloaded portion is part of the crown. Pictured is a DSN SS springloaded crown Once you unscrew the stem (heat, vinegar etc), the 6497 stem is just a threaded long bar that should screw straight into a T-crown The only thing you have to be concerned about is length. Because of the extra spring loaded area, the DSN stems are slightly shorter so you can't screw all the way in. You need to measure it correctly and either glue it down, or get a new stem.
  19. LH does more than just polish the teeth so I think he's asking for someone else.
  20. hahaha...fly on over to SIngapore and you'll get it Either that, or just rock up and find the table with all the watches laid out for the world to see
  21. Just reminding people its this wednesday from 7 onwards. Table is booked under my name which I'll PM each of you shortly. Looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing the gems that come out.
  22. 210 is, but not that easily found. And the cartel/DSN Radiomir cases are very wrong, too rounded. But yes, the 210 is one of my favorite PAMs, was the watch that got me into Radiomirs when I tried on the gen. Went to a franken 232 instead so you might want to consider that if you can handle the 47mm (wears smaller than an equivalent 47mm Luminor).
  23. You sure you want to go down this path red? Once you step on it, there's no turning back. Look at me, I walked away after a DSN 112H 3yrs ago, swearing off PAMs and now look at my collection. Basically, three things are glaring to me on that PAM, 2 are easily fixable. First is the crown. Contact oncyte for a crown if he still has any left. Its cheap at $15 and I've got one on my PAM 201a (I'll show pics soon) that looks great. Very nice and thick. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=93323 Second, is the crown guard. You have multiple options. If you want to splurge, get an LH CG ($150). Something a little more budget is a Torobravo CG at 50Euro or a Seadbo CG at $65 (discontinued though). That said, I may have a spare one or know where one can be had, let me confirm in the day. The last glaring flaw is the dial, but you can't really do anything about that except get an LH dial, or even a DSN dial ($80) which is still flawed, but at least superlumed
