  1. 1:1 is a ratio, meaning that all parts are interchangeable with gen. There is no such thing as an identical rep....seriously....
  2. get it on oceanracer, too. the rep straps and deploy are a waste of $, not even worth wearing: mine's falling apart, smells terrible, looks like its worth 5bucks, plus the single deploy makes it sit funny on the wrist unless you have a big wrist...
  3. No way. Mine from trusty is perfect. packed great. I love it. Big but sits great on the wrist. Can be dressed up or down. Can't go wrong with it.
  4. Thanks. Just got his email. 71US shipped. You guys get yours yet?
  5. What s the story on the bezel of this guy? IT's rubber, right? how does it measure in comparison to gen, how dust attracty is it? also it looks from the pics that the monstrosities on the bezel aer set below the crystal??? does the bezel scratch easily then?
  6. An underground, underground market?..... Hilarious
  7. I can't find the ocean racer on silix's site...? can someone post a link?
  8. Oh God.... I just looked at a Mark V dial :bad: :bad: Back to the drawing board
  9. Well s###, I can steal this jacka##'s story about this one of a kind watch, build my own rep one, and still pass off my piece as a 90K watch. Killer....
  10. Wow thanks man. I have somewhere to start now. I think I am going to go with one lke the Mark V, then. I really want one that glows )
  11. So Lani is the only person I could find who commented on the quality of Josh/Andrew's Ocean Racer strap. Can anyone else weigh in?
  12. ditto and it looks like s*** on the EVO, too. But those two watches on bracelets are badass. You asked :D
  13. Very cool, although I'm not a big fan of the diagonal links on all these breitling reps. If there were a square link one like breitling makes in 22mm I might go for that. I think I'm leaning toward the rep oceanracer, though. It's a little casual, but the black on black is dressy enough for work for me. I am going to find out how satisfied everyone is with their rep oceanracers now....
  14. Like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Double-Red-Seadw...p3286.m63.l1177 wow....
  15. 90K??? could this be for real? this rep could be done for the same cost as any other vintage rollie rep and I could tell people mine was worth almost 100K :D :D http://cgi.ebay.com/Submariner-Seadweller-...id=p3286.c0.m14
  16. Man thanks. That kind of blows though. If I had a gen GWSD with a vintage dial and I inadvertantly let Rolex swap it for an assembly line modern replacement I would be [censored]. I know Takashi has vintageized lume that's functional on a vintage Comex, but I don't think I would want that now. Maybe Ill just do a vintage everything-but-the-dial.... I definitely don't want the whitegold trimmed markers. So what if I had a gen DRSD and wanted functional lume from Rolex. Would they give me a DR face with SL? or are the replacement dials you referred to all going to be GW?
  17. Ive been tossing around the idea of putting together a vintage seadweller for a little while, probably a Great White. I would have it relumed with the lume vintage-ized (is that a word?) so that I had a functional face with a vintage look. I know a real 70s face would have faded to nearly no lume by now, but regardless.... So I was just wondering now, does Rolex do relume jobs on vintage watches to make the lume functional again? If so could I build a piece that was vintage except for brand new, not vintage-ized dial markers and hands, thus still being passable as a Gen? Just wondering...
  18. this is news to me too. i read that the newer one has the rehaut flaw fixed too? I'm skeptical. Is this new full ceramic froma new factory?
  19. No help?..... I have to get mine replaced; the rep croc is stinking up my wrist and an eyesore as it has worn down a little. I am prob gonna get a new double deployant, but may not. Im really looking for something waterproof, understated but still unique. I have considered some of the Panatime straps even, but they are a little too casual. Might get a black carbon fiber or black calf with red, blue or green stitching. probably won't go for calf or other leather though b/c it could damage with some of the chemicals i work with. I might have to get two...
  20. @ andreww good info. i've been trying to figure out what replacement band to get for my SOH forever, but don't want to spend much. i can attest, too, that the rep croc is terrible; it has started to stink up my wrist even...
  21. @ chrono: where are you getting the rep band from? I don't mess around with many of the dealers besides tt,pt, or eurotimez. mind putting a link to the site?
  22. Ill second (third, fourth, however many times it's been said) that. I don't have any interest at this point in my life, nor do I think I ever will, of wearing a multi thousand dollar purchase on my wrist. The only way I may is if I get alot wealthier than I anticipate, or if it could appreciate in value. Same reason I buy cheap foreign cars. Ill take the money I save and put it in something that will appreciate. I bought my first rep, dropped it off my balcony the first day, and put a huge dent in the crown and dislodged some of the dial markers. I have more important things to worry about than whether I am going to do this kind of (1000$+) damage to a gen accidentally.
  23. I agree. Then I can actually talk about the hobby, rarely ever getting into whether or not the parts are Gen. Saying I mess around on the internet finding cheap parts and I built it for much cheaper than buying it at a dealer is true.
