  1. The subdial @ 9-o-clock is the running seconds...that's the one that continually runs...always (well, except when there's no juice left in the power reserve). The top button should start the big centre seconds hand which is your chrono hand...aka the stopwatch hand. Press the top again, and it should stop the centre seconds chrono hand...while the 9-o-clock keeps running...always. The bottom hand should bring the centre, 12-o-clock and 6-o-clock hands back to centre, resetting the chrono.
  2. Nice looking Diver. It looks like you mean business!!
  3. Thanks!! It's always fun to write them. I just wish I had more watches to review. Hah hah. As to the weight of the head, I clock mine in at 135.5g...so lighter than the gen.
  4. Tigger? I don't even know her... Be sure to post back pics of the piece...especially if it's a prototype. We'll want ALL angles...we're a photo hungry, demanding bunch here at RWG!!
  5. Well...you're diving into ground for modding that is completely foreign to me. I was tempted to do a simple crown/tube replacement which should have been a simple drilling out of the tube, and adding in epoxy. I chickened out, and had The Zigmeister do it.
  6. Depends on the sizing of the bracelet really...the 238g was sized on another posts measurements. I don't have a bracelet for my Skyland...so I couldn't do a bracelet weigh-in with all links. I'll remove my straps and do a weigh in of the head later when I get home.
  7. Congrats all 'round. Can't say I'm a suit guy...but I can certainly appreciate an eye for details and design. The VC is beautiful...simple and elegant...a fine choice.
  8. Check out the RWG links section: Strap Links ...look up HKTan...then you'll see the gallery of what he has done in the past. His are all custom straps...find the skin you like, the watch you need it for...and any other custom features you want (e.g. extra long because you have massive wrists...or extra short because you have skinny ones like me) and can usually take 3 months for an order. Hah...you thought 2 months to get a buggered rep repaired with a collector was bad. HAH HAH. Top quality though. Send him a PM/email/message through his contact info above...and you should be good to go. He won't likely have the buckles...those you have to order separately. Jay, Angus, Josh, blah blah blah should be able to get the buckles you need.
  9. Josh often does that with his "pre-release" type of posts on his site...but the price is crazy $888,8888. In this case...this is a real number, so I think this is the actual asking price...crazy. I wonder if we'll actually find that the real Swiss 7750 is in fact an Asian copy of the the Valjoux 7750 with all the ETA markings but-not-quite-right ETA part compatibility. >sigh<
  10. Yeah...not likely a functioning minute repeater. I don't think I've heard of a rep minute repeater movement. Funny that...they can do rep tourby's...but not a minute repeater. Go figger!
  11. You could try contacting the collectors if they can get a replacement buckle for you...Silix/Peter (Watchstation) / Angus seem to be best at sourcing parts.
  12. Yeah...this is a tricky one to search. IWC oem specs are in fact 21mm/18mm. I have fit a 22mm DiModell Imperator strap on my 3717, but I had to shave down the the sides between the lug horns as the lugs are pretty sharp and were cutting into the leather a bit. >sigh< I have since moved that strap to another watch. The 22/18 size is not really standard except for IWC...so you have a couple choices: Buy OEM...but expensive Buy a rep strap with the branded deployment (the strap is pretty mediocre, but the deployment is alright) Buy a rep strap with the branded tang buckle (the buckle is good, but again, strap mediocre) Buy a non-branded strap for use with either a rep branded buckle/deployment (be sure which as the straps are different for each) setup from one of the strap vendors listed in the links section Buy a non-branded strap for use with the non-branded tang/deployment buckle of your choice Bob straps are nice for the price. HKTan's are some of the best...TWB is also good (theBay webshop for the Watch Boys), Cajun, Aaron, V, etc...there are many like these guys who can source or make straps in the IWC OEM size specs.
  13. Yum. I've got the black...can't wait to get the brown in the mail.
  14. Josh appears to have his prelim announcement of a new IWC Minute Repeater. This has a very simple dial with running secs@6 which I think looks reasonably elegant. I like the look of the more symmetrical power reserve dial...but that's me. Unfortunately, they seem to have screwed up in a few ways. The numeral hour markers are narrower than the gen: Gen of course the movement doesn't look the same, but it still looks nice on the rep...but I don't think IWC spells their name "INTS 3NATIONAL WATCH CO." DOH!!
  15. Congrats!!! Those are 2 fantastic gens. Now...put back on your reps, you don't want to scratch those beauties!!
  16. Thanks for the quick reply on this, as I wasn't sure of the answer on this one. So the case number for the current SMP Chrono is the same as the older "white print" dialed one??
  17. Always great to see your pics. I don't have a black but tried on the gen at the AD, and I have to agree...the grey dial has a certain something about it. The black seems too, dare I say, "common"?? I have lots of black divers watches...so having the grey is awesome.
  18. Such generosity couldn't happen to a better guy who has put so much into making this community great...encouraging newbies...shooting awesome pics...and sharing kind words. I always say...if you've had something good come your way...you likely put lots of good out to begin with.
  19. Welcome aboard. It sounds like you're just starting you're replica journey with the questions you are asking. Sit back, read, SEARCH, read some more and have fun. Definitions Big Big Watch Question With the site you are looking at...if people don't have a lot of experience with them on this forum, you are on your own to shop there. If you find a lot of people using a collector on this forum...you are still on your own, but you have more information from a collective set of experiences. The usual suggestion is you should stick to collectors recommended on this forum...but there are a few "hidden gem" collectors out there that you'll read about here that aren't on the "list"...and it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to try a new collector out. Good luck. If you try the site...post back your experiences with pics...and whether or not you got your watch...what your experience with the collector was...and whether or not you overpaid compared with collectors on this site.
  20. That's definitely an impressive looking piece. Nice shots to show off the quality!!
  21. As far as I understand...no. Some have nickel plating...the standard is gold...no difference otherwise. You have to confirm with your seller which movement. There are Asian copies of ETASs, and the actual swiss ETA proper.
  22. I'm about to order some movements. He's responding to queries in the usual time...24-36hrs...
  23. Already did...do a search on the Bay for "counterfeit" and you'll get a link to report. I also sent an email to the winning bidder outlining why their watch they won is fake.
