  1. Most of your questions have been asked before in various links. Just because I'm a nice guy, and to encourage you to contribute to this forum, I'll start you off on a few links. The links lead to answers to some of your questions...you'll have to read the material to see the relevance: This one speaks about automatics in general. Your SMP Bond is an auto same as any other including the 7750 based movements. Is yours an Asian movement, Asian 2836/2824 or whatever, or a genuine Swiss ETA movement? Care and Feeding of A7750s Swiss ETAs can be hand wound without problems...but Asian movements it's not recommended...again the following apply to A7750 (most popular chrono movement...but is pretty relevant to standard autos as well): Why Handwinding is Bad As to the OMEGA print on the dial...yes, this is how it is on the gen. Look at the Omega guide pinned in the Omega section to read reviews and find pictures that you can compare yours to. Some later years (current SMPs) have an applique OMEGA and "ohm" on the dial...but they didn't used to have this on some. The UPO uses both an applique "ohm" as well as printed dial. Problems Accelerating Wear and Maintenance of A7750s Scuffs on bracelets are not a big deal. It should be cheap to do...or you can get a cape code cloth from a jewellers and do it yourself. Welcome aboard. Read the many excellent posts here...learn...SEARCH and learn more...then post back your findings to contribute back to the board. If you find the info here is saving you money and/or giving you knowledge, consider upgrading your membership to ensure this great source of info is available to you in the future.
  2. Interesting looking strap...good match to the colours of the AS.
  3. Good job. Make sure to post back pics, and even a review if you can. Have fun with it...that's the main thing.
  4. The new one may look busier...but it adds Tach functions...how cool is that??
  5. Hah hah...it can't stop...feed the urge...post pictures and write reviews...that helps with the shakes!! Glad you found the forum. This is the place for the people in the know!! Have fun...get info...post back!! And, if you find the info here useful, and if it has saved you money...consider upgrading your membership to keep the forum alive.
  6. I think it looks great...so great in fact, I have one on order with the deployment for my Skyland. That Blackbird is a great watch!!
  7. Aaah...my mistake. I was too lazy to go and check the dealer sites for this...and this is what it gets me.
  8. That's a big watch. Thanks for the review...good job!
  9. Are you looking at a gen or a rep? There are lots of good Omega reps. The SMP Chrono is one of my faves...but lots of folks here are all over the full sized PO (aka UPO). Check out the Omega guide in the Omega section. The Omega Speedy Dates are very accurate reps at a good price...the Moon Watch and the 50th Anniversary are a couple of my faves albeit not the most accurate because of the subdial spacing issue. You have just begun a journey of research. There are good subs out there...as well as a number of other good Rollies. Grab a drink...do lots of reading...learn...read some more...odds are good the questions you have have been asked a million times and using the Search feature will net you more info than a over-asked question post...and you'll uncover lots of gem posts that you may have missed otherwise. Have fun...and if you find the info here useful...consider upgrading your membership to a paid subscription to ensure the life of the board.
  10. Holy Crap that's a high price. This is a new release with the Swiss movement and the bracelet correct? If I remember correctly, the other Carrera's only had the rubber strap.
  11. Welcome aboard. You've come to the best and most knowledgeable board around. Look at the brand areas, read the reviews, learn, play around with different search strings and you will find more information than you can consume in many sittings. Look at the offerings from the collectors here, and you will be in good order with high end reps of the watches you were likely dreaming of.
  12. It's definitely fake: Subdial hands are the same size Caseback is wrong Movement has the "toothed" rotor centre instead of the notched one on a Valjoux 7750 I reported it to theBay For a detailed comparison, check out my review:
  13. I would definitely go for the GMT. Why? There are decent rep Subs out there...the Noob being a pretty close offering to the 16610. True, the vintage ones like a 16800 are hard to get without work...but there really is no substitute for a GMT movement. A proper functioning, correct hand stack RELIABLE Rolex GMT movement is not something that has been replicated properly. The ICHS though reasonably reliable, can't really be serviced by anybody easily due to parts sourcing problems and people like The Zigmeister who know rep movements won't touch the movement with complications like these...even the ETA versions with the GMT complication. The CHS version works properly, but is known to be unreliable. A gen Rolex GMT is just that - a proper functioning, reliable watch that really has yet to be repped properly.
  14. Very nice collection. How well do the markers line up on the Navitimer?? Can you actually use the slide rule without too much error?
  15. Very interesting!! Thanks for posting that. Now if my cam ever gets back from Canon for repairs...maybe I can take some pix again.
  16. Interesting report. That is some low pay for highly skilled work after expensive tuition.
  17. Aaah...you must be from Ottawa, Calgary or Edmonton.
  18. Testing should cost between $25-$50 CDN depending on who does it...and what happens after testing. Tell them it's a rep and you want to see how resistant it is. Have them first test it to about 3atm...then maybe 5atm. If it fails at 3...have them test to 2atm. That will get you quick accidental splashes with no problem...but submersion is not recommended. If it fails...they should try greasing gaskets for you and re-testing. If that fails...depending on where it fails, you may be out of luck. Sometimes they pass but it's still a risk as the fit between chrono pushers (tolerance of hole and machining of pushers) is low so too much of a gap is there. The gasket may protect things, unless the pusher is pushed to the side...then it leaks...so a risk for swimming.
  19. Welcome...I'm from TO...so is Andreww.
  20. Beautiful. Does that mean you had the caseback engraved, or were you able to source that caseback with that number???
  21. Ouch...harsh! At least he posted...and is already narrowing things down to a WM sub. You gotta start somewhere...and better it be here than a scam site. Welcome aboard...read, learn, search, learn more and post your experiences. Above all...have fun.
