Perhaps those fabulous screws on the back? Seriously, if you can't figure it out you could bring it to any low-end jewelry store or shore advertising changing quartz batteries and they will take care of it.

I picked up a busted Davidsen deco bezel a while back for a very reasonable price. When I got it the dial coloring and "orange" lume were way off from any vintage ever produced. We all know what it aspires to look like. So off it went to Ziggy with the instructions to "make it look old" and "feel free to attach it to the bumper of your car". I am ecstatic with the aesthetics and, of course, the watch works again. BEFORE: AFTER:

As was said, use does not make watch oils evaporate. Time does. A watchwinder doesn't hurt your watches but it is really a convenience. The thing you will find frustrating is that different watches (both rep and gen) respond very differently to being on them. Some will continue to keep COSC quality time others will gain or lose time. Where I find a watchwinder is invaluable is for automatics with difficult crowns or tendency to strip threads and for Perpetual calendars.

TTK is right. Everyone has gotten too complacent. Not only do rules have to be stated. They have to be enforced. Participation on this forum is a priviledge - not a right. But it is not treated as such.

Asian for Swiss of course. I bought a dozen old school 17j 7750's and have been transplanting them into some of my better reps. Awaiting the return of the Pilot and a BCE. And of course as long as it is over the border how can you resist a professional relume.

I am the opposite. There is no better feeling than buying a watch with a suspect movement or some other potential flaw knowing that some other trusted member has inspected it for you. And I am in Chieftang's camp on modding. That is the joy for many of us.

Looks great. I took Dave's advice and bought a Watchboy's croc. Now just waiting to get it back from the master with movement transplant and relume.

How about validating members or requiring an "I agree" clause that you are not affiliated with ... Keep all those CEO's and paneristi's off the forum. I am not worried about access to reps. The business has taken off and you aren't keeping this genie in the bottle. Stealing intellectual property and knocking it off is a central tenet of the largest populace in the world. 80% of what is produced is sold in that country. And by the way that country is building up well over a trillion dollars of trade surplus. Who is gonna take them on? A central government with that kind of financial might can ruin any currency it wants. In spite of all the wishful thinking, this business has dramatically expanded - not shrunk. Think about the last time when RWG 1 got hit. There were one or two websites and several photo-buckets. Now it is a much more professional business with far more readily available access. The Hublot's and Rolexes have to do everything in their power to protect their intellectual property but the only defense is truly defensible intellectual property. IMHO, Rolex has not made a significant advance in years other than lowering the cost of their manufacturing through use of machines. To their credit, Hublot has come up with some design innovations but is still sticking with stock movements. There is a reason why only the most basic VC's and Pateks's can be well-rep'ed. More importantly, I do hope a workable solution can be arranged. After four years and numerous ups and downs, the quality of aesthetic is better and the business is bigger. Trying to shut down forums like this will not slow down the trade. But it will allow gen manufacturers to feel better and in the short term makes it inconvenient.
