  1. Great minds think alike. I am actually trying to buy a gen inexpensively to get the actual datewheel to do the same thing. Bear in mind that there is some variation in the font based on model.
  2. Yes. Typical new Asian 7750. I have two of those and the risks you run are misaligned day/datw on some days and potential slippage on subdial hands. No problems so far though.
  3. Mojua- It is a mutant 162. When they were initially considering the design for the upcoming 188 and 196 they made prototypes with two contrast sub-dials. IMHO, much more interesting than the final production models. Here are the reference shots of the prototypes: And here is my other one without the subdial hands attached:
  4. Fitmic- I think it's you. They look the same in the pics above. Has anyone confirmed it is the right blue? Is it a 43-44mm case? It does look good.
  5. Well, since no one seems to have any problems anymore. Look at this post: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...p;hl=portuguese Of 8 reviews posted only 2 work properly. Congratulations to those whose watches work fine. You are the lucky ones. So if you are not convinced on the movement issue I still think it doesn't rate with a number of other IWC reps. It feels pretty wimpy on the wrist next to the gen. That is not true for many other IWC reps (Ingen, GST ti, etc.) if you are IWC inclined.
  6. Great pictorial Pug. Why don't you fill in the pearl with lume. Actually, I am not sure if I am kidding.
  7. Thanks guys. These lenses are in my price range. I am looking at my camera and it currently has a DX AF-S 18-135 1:3.5-5.6G ED on it. What would be the nice compliment of the ones listed?
  8. And here is the PAM they never put into production but should of and is still my favorite of both gens and reps: Enjoy the ride. You may find yourself buying fewer and fewer gens.
  9. Whoah, that is the price of the camera. Think I will be looking around the second hand section over there.
  10. Pug- Thanks for the tip. I will stop by B&H next time I am down there and check out the price.
  11. Yeah, but Pug let's see the pic. The PO looks fine. I think you could wear the fiddy just as well.
  12. I have seen the other side of this when you bring in a gen to an ad for service. They take it apart and tell you something is wrong that you cannot see when the watch is together and then they ask you to pay substantially more. And unless you have skills you will never know the truth.
  13. I suppose it could be you. But as a for instance, if the service person removed the bezel and came upon a small chip or ar coat scratch underneath the bezel thye might take it upon themselves to replace it.
  14. I am willing to spend the money on a dedicated macro lense. It just means one less rep. Looking for a reference from someone who has a D and uses it for this purpose.
  15. Been wearing this one for several days.
  16. Exactly. Thanks god I am now perusing the National Statistics site rather than RWG several times a day. For me, that was far and away the best improvement in the latest upgrade. Now if I can ever get rid of those bouncing tits without losing every other pic that would be great too.
  17. Flav- Thanks for the pics. Your skills are rapidly improving.
  18. Thanks to all for the tips on checking double AR coat. I always wondered how to do it. In general V I have found that some company's do replace parts routinely. Rolex is the prime example. In the past I had sent in watches for servicing and they switched out the datewheel. What I didn't know then (and they too, in fairness) was the watch would be worth more with the original datewheel. I am convinced this is a result of a particular repair person as opposed to Company policy. I suspect it is alos more likely to happen if your watch is still under the original warranty because then they don't have to get your permission to charge you more. When your watch is still under warranty if the repair person comes upon a crystal chipped under the bezel or whatever they are more likely to just replace it.
  19. You mean Thomas is allowed to take time off? Seriously, you know there will be a depressing day when Thomas is away and they both will be down. If it is during the work week it would be my first complete work day in quite a while.
  20. I am too lazy to find it but there is a whole loop on everybody's experience. There appear to be any number of paperwieghts. Also Ziggy did a breakdown on the movement and explained why the movement is likely to have problems. I have never worn mine so I don't know. I am glad Randy's is performing well. It is potluck. What I concluded is that the Portuguese are relatively simple yet elegant chronographs and the reps don't begin to have the feel of the gen. I actually wore a friend's for a couple of days. I can't even say why. When a watch/dial/case is that simple and elegant it is difficult, IMHO, to not feel the difference on your wrist or notice the substandard minute details on the rep. I feel the same way about the FA Jones. They are fairly good aesthetically from afar but so far from the real thing that it bothers me.
  21. And wait until the white version is finished. It will be even better.
  22. I agree with Nanuq. That changes every week. For me it is never gens. I don't own any priceless antiques just easily repaceable ones. This week's favorite: In truth they never actually produced the gen beyond prototype and after many mods (recasing, finepics datewheel, dulling of dial and subdials) it is my favorite of any PAM Daylight - gens included. IMHO, they were idiots not to actually produce the Pandas. the next gen 250 and 251 are not any or particularly different from their predecssors. OOh, markers insteq(swoon).
