  1. Not true. Specs of cyclops (diameter, depth, survature) even materials (glass vs flint glass vs sapphire) all have a large effect as well.
  2. We all wish. All of the improvements were made in the 7750 and the 7753 was left to languish. I own all the others and am even recasing the Pandas but these have wrong bezel, wrong finish and wrong case. IMHO, for $600-700 that is not acceptable. If any dealer knows differently let me know. You have a buyer.
  3. Oh how right you are. For instance, having seen Rolli's posts on all the watches he has added the crown to I could see that the new crown ;looks spot on on the 196 and way too thick on the 2893's. But that is true with all PAM parts. Look at the cyclops. No two models have the same size and magnification although they have gotten better over the years. That is what happens when a watch company makes none of its own parts.
  4. I am under the impression that within the 150-175 degree range it should not impact the oils or the grease.
  5. Well, I got some moisture in my 2893 GMT when I accidentally walked into a steam shower. At the suggestion of a friend I stuck it in a toaster oven preheated to 175 degrees with the CG and crown left open. When I returned an hour later, lo and behold: No hands and no tools. Same thing happened to me with a gen Breitling Navitimer sitting on the beach on a hot summer day. Popped right off.
  6. Just remember, with gens it ain't luck. just dough.
  7. RT- You are evil. You know she is going to be inundated. Great job on the group buy. Of course I never show enough patience so I can't participate but I enjoy the thrill of a plan coming together.
  8. Great news. I now can rationalize that 187 7753 since I will be saving thousands of dollars which I expected to spend 5-7 years from now. If I present value that expenditure I will bet it equals next month's cost on the 7753 187. At least that is what I will tell my wife.
  9. I do have to say New York has changed quite a bit. In 1979 I lived in a walk-up directly above a whore house. Today I live a couple of blocks away in a house and couldn't feel safer. IMHO, truly one of the safest cities in the world to visit. And this is coming from a person who visted three continents and 20 cities or so in the last year. In fact NYC has become so much like Disney World that half the time when they want to film a nitty gritty old school NYC scene they have to go to a different borough.
  10. Finepics- I stick by my original post. Don't go opening night and wear whatever you want. I went the next day in New York to the PAM Ferrari exhibition. Or maybe you like hanging with the hardcore Paneristi. The added bonus was they were willing to pull them out of the lucite case and let me try them on.
  11. Hey Mark- Nice job on that knife thread. Greetz- Finepics described it correctly and succintly. Just make sure the movement matches the version. Other than lume and recessed pin they are both excellent reps.
  12. Today I learned something new on RWG. They sell high end bongs for thousands of dollars and weed costs $5 a gram. I am definitely getting old (and I am not Jerry Garcia).
  13. As Neil states Pam 183 had 2 versions. The dial and movement decoration changed from one version to the next. PAM 210 is the same thing without the reference to Black Seal on the dial.
  14. Wow, RWG 1 is back. The only question I have after 20 minutes of reading (shows how pathetic I am - although it is 7 am and thank god the kids are still asleep) is whether this type of loop is a good thing or simply a return to the name calling of RWG 1. Why do I say name calling? Because in all of these loops people rarely change their tune. They simply step up to the soap box and say their piece. So here is my question (and I am, perhaps briefly if at all, redirecting this thread): Are these kind of loops constructive to the forum? I don't know. Really wondering out loud. By the way, the U.S. isn't that bad. And in the case of NYC violent crime has drastically reduced so we are heading in the right direction.
  15. Why wouldn't you just buy the whole watch for less from Dave? What am I missing?
  16. I am going the other way but now I am leaning more towards the 243 while awaiting the 7753 187.
  17. By the way, people are buying very expensive Condos directly above NASCAR tracks.
  18. You are a brave man. You will be standing among the most anal retentive PAM people in the world. Although you never know. When I went to the Panerai Ferarri exhibition in New York no one was there and nobody cared. Then again I didn't go on opening night. If it is there for several days I woudl suggest going the next day.
  19. Wait a minute, that is what you said about the 194. Where's my fifty bucks?
