  1. Hmm, I don't know longshot. I'd still rather pay $700 for a genuine then $200 for a replica of it no matter how basic it is. Look at a similiary basic Panerai costing over $3400, suddenly the Sinn 656 looks like a quite decent deal. It is a cool looking watch. By out of range prices I mean more like $10K+. I would not wear a rep of a $50K watch I think it would be silly unless you present yourself as someone who can afford it and I cannot afford $50K watch. I can afford $10K watch but I think it is silly to spend that much. So as you do I have an income that allows me to buy genuine versions of all reps I own but that does not mean I would choose to spend $8K on a watch I like when I can as well enjoy a 98% version of it for $300 and when I get bored with it I won't feel as bad :-) This Sinn you like looks pretty cool and it is a genuine you get for a price of 2 reps you'd get otherwise. $700 beats the $3400 base Panerai for sure. I'll be a devil on your shoulder telling you to get that Sinn... ;-)
  2. Of course they do. As a matter of fact I got an automatic Swiss movement women size Tissot for my wife from an AD. It's a great watch assembled in Switzerland and it was less then what we pay for the reps with Chinese movement. She doesn't care about watch brands and movements and did not want anything expensive as long as it has seconds hand. Tissot worked out perfectly. But for guys like us and others it is all about brand perception, we buy into the brands and what they represent, their design and even status, panerai, iwc and others. I'm sure if anyone had a choice to pay $320 for a rep of great looking $1000 Tissot or $6000 Panerai, both with the same beautiful finish and movement every single person would go for a Panerai cause in your mind you are also buying a brand (even if it is only a rep). Brand perception makes us buy reps of great, established and most of the time very expensive brands. I have been laughing almost every day for past 2 years while wearing any of 3 Panerai reps I have cause I don't even think of them as reps anymore just little lower quality versions I got for a fraction of a fraction what I'd have to pay for genuine ones. It makes it so much fun as everyone here knows.
  3. True... And now imagine Swiss 7750 in a $4000 watch. It's all about brands.
  4. All this complaining about high price. But think of this for second. Even in the genuine watch world Brand A will charge $3000 for a chrono with 7750, Brand B will charge $5500 and brand B will charge $9500. Some will only decorate the movement and some will do fiurther upgrades but in the end it is a 7750 wrapped in a different design and brand name. I don't see anyone compaining about that, people just pay for what they like. Some reps are harder to make and require much more effort, look at all the elements that come together to make HBB. I think complaining that it is $400+ and not $300 is just plain silly. Be happy it's not $600 or more.
  5. the same collaboration as with the hbb would be great. I can't seem to be able to leave the forum today... ;-)
  6. I wonder if we could see some shots of the prototype being made like we did with Hublot Big Bang. The Aquatimer is "the one" for me and I can't wait for it.
  7. Genuine models are not expensive. It is better that we have reps of watches that are really out of range as far as gen. prices go.
  8. There is really no answer to that, it depends on a combination of what watch it is, how much you really want it, what movement it has, etc. There are watches that you would not spend more then $200 on because of asian movement, suddenly next month you are spending $400+ on a different model with the same asian movt. cause you really want that model. I said to myself that I would never buy a rep with asian movement. Then 1950 Flyback comes out and since I was crazy about the design I ended up buying it, had it serviced and it has been running fine for past 8 months or so. I think there is a limit. I must agree with everything that Kruzer said. I think I'd spend as high as $600-$700 on a rep if it meets certain conditions. 1. It has to be a model I really, really want but it is too expensive to get a genuine one, meaning $6000+ price range. Although I can afford it I don't think I'd be willing to buy watches in that price range no matter how much I like them 2. It has to have swiss movt. 3. It has to be 1:1 with no flaws. I can think of one good example I'm waiting for, the IWC Auqatimer Cousteau. I'd pay $600+ for a rep with Swiss 7750 as long as it has no flaws and it is 1:1, then get it serviced and be happy knowing I have a model that I really wanted but I was not willing to spend over $6K on a genuine one.
  9. If this one comes out 1:1. I'd definitely go for special order Swiss 7750.
  10. Very Nice! I'm researhcing it right now. May make my list too.
  11. I feel like there aren't really that many interesting GMT reps. If I was to choose to rep new and interesting GMT I'd probably vote for either Ebel 1911 BTR GMT or/and Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec GMT. Attached pics. Any thoughts? Or maybe someone found a dream GMT watch and wanted to share... ;-)
  12. It's a nice design but 39mm is pretty small, I don't think there would be a lot of buyers for this model.
  13. Well, Hopefully we'll see the 42mm in a first quarter of 07 with a Swiss ETA for a decent price.
  14. I've tried on BR01 Power Reserve that a friend of mine owns more then few times and I have been drooling over it for over a year now but 46mm is too big for my wrist. I can get away with 44mm Pams cause they kind off wrap around your wrist where the 46mm BR01 is completely flat and just simpy sticks out too much. The new 42mm BR03 is driving me insane, I want one!!! Just wanted you to check out this picture I pulled of off the Bell&Ross forum. Unless there is a nice rep made of this thing I think I'm going to just get one from AD, very likely the PVD version. What do you guys think about this model?
  15. I tried all Auquatimer models as well, really like the look and feel. I only have 3 PAM's and 1 Omega and I'm looking into different watches then PAM's that I pretty much wear all the time. Cousteau looks really cool, it would be a nice rep to get since gen is way too expensive. I'd wait to see how good the rep is going to be.
  16. That's a great idea. I have to look into that. For now I guess just wait and see how good the Auqatimer is going to be.
  17. $200 for the gen rubber band is a crazy markup, I know they charge $1000 for the bracelet which is insane although not as bad as $2K+ PAM's bracelets.. arghh.
  18. Awesome, I voted for the Aquatimer Chrono, let's hope it gets made.
  19. That's a good point. The regular Aquatimer Chrono with SS bracelet is the one I would get rather then Cousteau with a rubber band, but if the rep is not made I'd settle for the Cousteau. Although I was seriously thinking of getting gen regular Aquatimer Chrono with SS bracelet.
  20. I just looked at the IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Cousteau Divers in PureTime's Coming soon section. I'm psyched this rep is coming out since I really, really like that model and was kind of scoping gen "non Cousteau" model. I really hope there will be a swiss movt (7750) version of this model. I attached a shot from PureTime's post as well as a picture of a gen as a head-to-head comparison. How many of you would be interested in a Swiss movt version of it? Maybe we can request it, group buy or something? thanks, :-)
  21. Super nice!!! Makes me really want to get one very soon.
  22. I did search around, looked through the older posts but I would like to hear some more comments as far both models 009 PVD and 202A PVD from Davidsen. I'm looking to get one of them. Not sure which one yet. How is the PVD coating on those models, does it come close to what genuine models are? I'd like to hear some comments in general as far as the quality, crown guard, cronw etc. From the pics I saw it looks like the crown guard's lever on the 009 is much closer to the genuine. The one on the 202 sticks out way too much. In any case, I really appreciate any comments or reviews. Thanks a lot ;-)
  23. Very Cool, I really want one of those PVD models.
  24. Unless I missed it I noticed nobody asked for REAL PVD model. What I would really like to see is a perfect rep of any "A" series PVD model with Swiss 6497 movt.
  25. If I was going to get a genuine Panerai I would get the PAM 00104, But from your selection I voted for 111.
