  1. Okay get this..... I went down to the jewelry store today to take some pics of the watch for you guys and guess what....THEY SWITCHED WATCHES ON ME!!!! Here is what is in their display case now..... The triangle on the bezel does not align straight at 12:00 I am NOT losing my mind....I know damn well that the watch had only 2 lines of text below the hand stack yesterday....obviously they got a little excited that someone was showing an interest in the watch....for whatever reason....they switched em up on me....wont be doing business with these guys
  2. No, no, no!! I made that photo to show you what the watch LOOKS like!!! The actual watch is located down the street from my house at a jewelry store....it is sitting on the shelf in the display case....
  3. Somebody give some input please.... I searched the internet and found nothing except a couple of articles where they talk about Rolex making some non-certified watches....i dont know....is this one of them?
  4. There is a jewelry store not far from my house that is selling what they say is a genuine 2006 GMT Master II with red/black bezel....I held it in my hand for a few minutes today....the CGs are perfect....bezel feels amazing when rotated....everything is perfect except for one thing....it does not say "Officially Certified" on the dial anywhere....I have never seen a GMT without this below the "Superlative Chronometer" line....the watch looks like this.... I made this photo to show you guys what the watch LOOKS like....this is not the actual watch....just a representation They are asking $4400....she is supposed to call me tomorrow and let me know if the owner is willing to drop the price....of course they do not know that I have noticed this major issue....
  5. The first one with the orange lume is a gen 1956 6536...100m The second one is a little tougher....it is supposed to be a 5508...but it says 1000ft......WRONG!!....Its a franken watch with gen insert, gen/rep case and a dial from another sub.....maybe gen.....not sure....I dont know....but the dial is definately wrong....red pearl is 6536/1 though
  6. If you are unable to manually wind the movement then I say you HAVE won the lottery. Return the watches for a refund...an exchange might not solve the problem because more than likely he will just send you watches from the same manufacturer (Drop ship?)....both watches probably come from the same manufacturer and this is an issue they have not caught onto yet....there could be hundreds of watches out there with the same problem....you have GOT to be able to get the crown into the winding position....if you cannot....there is definitely a problem....not worth the money, time or effort to repair imho....
  7. There has been a little bit of concern amongst a few of the members on this forum regarding the authenticity of ETA movement. Sorry if this subject is repetitive. My search results came up with off topic discussion. Some people have made the claim that the ETAs in todays replicas are indeed Asian knock-offs. Do we have any substantial evidence to prove the validity of this claim? To my understanding, there is an Asian copy of ETA movement(s), but also there is genuine ETA movement in many of the watches we buy........is this correct?......are we getting genuine ETA when we are told we are......or are we getting Asian copies that fit the bill? Does anyone have any photos to help distinguish the difference between these two movements?
  8. Why dont you play it safe for the first couple of days and not wear any watch. This way you can scout out what everyone else is wearing and choose a watch from your collection that fits in. You never know....maybe their wearing the kinda stuff you like.
  9. Its hard to pull off gold Rollies any way you slice it....TT or Solid K. Its not like you can just strap on a TT Rolie and pull it off in normal street clothes. The only way to do it is to wear the watch when you are dressed your best. In Las Vegas we go out to the finest clubs in town. When we do, I usually dress to the hilt.....all Italian [censored]....sometimes a nice suit like Hugo Boss or Armani....then you can get away with pulling off the Gold Datona, TT Sub or Breitling.....but when im headed out to the bar down the street....wearing jeans or whatever....I wont even bother with the TT....its a Sub or GMT on one of the other mid-end watches i own. In short, theres nothing wrong with getting the SG Rollie...you just have to know how to wear it....and in my opinion....the TT models scream replica anyway.....just like the DJs with diamond markers or diamond bezels...
  10. Me personally, I would not accept the roman numeral error. I mean seriously....how do you (censor) overlook that one? I once saw a Panerai rep with a compass on the bezel....N E S W....but the E and W were on the wrong sides of the bezel...switched....how does a manufacturer overlook something like that.....oh ya....I forgot.....MADE IN CHINA I found the photo...you can see why they screwed it up....they couldnt decide which one was the W and which one was the E....so they just made a guess....
  11. Because nobody commented on my chewbacca photo....this is my last chance to make you laugh and get a reaction....
  12. If I were this guy I would just hold out for some Gen movement...I mean...everything else on the watch is gen...there is 3135 movement on ebay right now for less then $900....then he would have the real deal....a shame to pop an ETA into all that...
  13. I think your safe using this ebay photo as a comparison. The CGs in this photo look damn good to me...to good to be a rep...
  14. To my understanding....Rolex has lately been OUTSOURCING the manufacturing of their watches.....perhaps to more than one manufacturer....what does this mean? That a Rolex isnt necessarily made by Rolex...but by a company that is Rolex approved. Besides the fact that watches vary a little from year to year...this may explain why there are differences between watches of the same model. What are the chances of someone calling you out on such a minute detail anyway? Maybe thats not the point....and people just want the satisfaction of knowing that they have created the 'perfect' clone.....a pride in their work sort of accomplishment perhaps. We should do a poll to see if anyone has ever been "Called out" by someone in public who did indeed discover that you were wearing a replica because of the inaccuracy's of craftsmanship. I bet out of 100 votes only 1 or 2 could make an honest claim that YES....I was in public and a guy pointed out that my watch is a rep because of such and such.. My dream sub....
  15. I have seen several different Gen LV subs and it seems that there is some variance. The only real difference I have noticed is the bezel font. The 4 is a little wider on this one than others I have seen. Maybe the Swiss Made varies also. This is a good pic of a Gen. Notice the perfect rehault and bezel and hands.
  16. Ask Chewbacca what he thinks.....did you mean too WOOKIE???
  17. Ive been crawling all over the net looking for Tudors. They are much more expensive that I thought. The stuff on ebay was a little misleading I suppose. I guess it might be worth doing a Tudor - Rolex conversion (Tudex!!) if I could find an old Tudor at a reasonable price. One with broken movement would be a perfect candidate. Ill keep looking and if I do find one ill be sure to let everyone know. I do own some reps by the way......they just have the basic flaws that only people like us would notice.
  18. I knew I was on to something here and it is no surprise to me that this conversion has been done before. Its funny that some people spend hundreds of dollars...maybe even as much as $1000....to create a near gen Rolex rep when you could buy a Tudor that needs LESS modifying and IS genuine. It makes more sense to spend some good bucks on a Tudor and make the mods. Atlease this way you know you are getting a gen case, movement and crown (As long as you are buying from some who has an actual gen tudor). I would be willing to dip $1000 into this if I had extra cash right now.
  19. Ok...sorry about the bogus ebay links. for some reason cut and paste didnt work out. I put up some pics of the watch. Nice gen crown eh?
  20. Does anyone think its possible to take this Tudor and mod it to look like a Rolex sub? Check the CGs......their perfect! I figure that the Tudor movement is fine....probably ETA so no need to swap that. Just insert a quality dial....swap the bezel....replace the second hand and POOF!! Youve got a damn good rep! Too good to be true? Maybe.....not sure. Any ideas?
