  1. If the person asking you is your good friend or someone close to you then obviously you should tell the truth....otherwise you should lie every time....that is part of the hobby of rep collecting....we dont wear replicas to reveal to people that they are not the real thing.... Here is something that has worked for me....when someone asks me if its real or not I say this...."Ya its real....but im not sure it was worth it because every time someone notices the darn thing they ask me if its real or not!" They just laugh and thats the end of it.... The other day my boss threw a tricky one at me....he asked...."Where did you get your watch?"...now I was forced to make up a real lie or be ridiculed by my coworkers who were listening....I said "Ben Bridge....put a few grand down and made payments on it"....now all my coworkers think im wearing a gen Rolex sub.... And this is as far as it should go....dont take it to a jewelry store or even worse an AD and try to fool them....it is then that you are approaching a completely different hobby....scammer!!
  2. Rolex does not make that watch....sorry you got confused.... Yes it can be modded....just like any other watch that can be modded into something other than what the original manufacturer offers....hence the term.... FANTASY
  3. Here ya go kenofstephen....I will give you some useful information.... First....you will need to purchase a precision screwdriver set....maybe you have seen these before....Kmart....about $5.00.... Then you will need to remove a couple of the links from your bracelet....simply unscrew the screws connecting the link(s) you wish to remove and then re-connect the bracelet after they are removed.... although many people here are aware of this simple adjustment....they do not do it correctly.... Make sure that you have more links on the 12:00 side of the bracelet than the 6:00 side when you are done....this way the clasp will be centered on your wrist when you are wearing the watch.... many people remove the links from the wrong side of the bracelet and the clasp does not rest directly under the center of the wrist.... All the rep nerds are now examining their watches.... It should look like this if done correctly.... Finally....you can make a fine tuning adjustment to the size of the bracelet to create the desired tension around your wrist.... Simply take a toothpick or a thumb tac and press on the spring bar in the clasp....there are several holes to choose from to decide what tension you prefer.... Have fun with your new SSD....it is the best out of the box SD ever!
  4. That watch is 100% fantasy....no gen....sorry....
  5. Hey guys!...what an excellent thread....who would have thought that a simple sub question would bring this much attention....probably because he mentioned WM9....who has not yet proven himself on this or any other board....here is a fantastic thread on the WM9 subject.... WM9 1 to 1 copy Fascinating that TTK sells an MBW....this I was not aware of....hopefully he has them in stock....with that in mind....here is probably your best option....assuming that you have some skills with watch modifications or know someone who can help you....and that TTK has the stock.... Buy two watches from TTK.... 1. The Noobmariner....why you may ask???? A. It has the best submariner dial ever.... B. Arguably....it has the best bracelet C. It is only $100 2. The modern MBW....why you may ask???? A. Arguably....it has the best case ever.... B. It comes with Swiss ETA Now here is where the watch modding skills come into play.... Remove the dial from the noob and insert it into the MBW.... Remove the bracelet from the noob and attach it to the MBW.... Sand down the CGs and you are straight frickin GOLDEN!!!! GOLDEN I tell you!!!! You will then have an MBW with a noob dial and bracelet running with ETA....ALL FOR LESS THAN THE WM9 OR THE ULTIMATE SUB.... If you want to....you can switch out the insert with a more accurate pearl :D :D
  6. This topic has been debated before....when the first watchmaker9 thread appeared concerning the 1:1 copy debate....the general consensus was this....you are better off buying an MBW because you will have to mod both watches anyway....why spend more money on the WM9 and mod it when you can spend less on the MBW and mod it with and end up with the same or better results....in other words....take the money you save from purchasing the MBW and spend it on the mods
  7. They use multiple small lights in jewelry stores for 2 main reasons.... 1. To make the jewelry look more appealing.... 2. To help the jeweler compare diamonds and justify the difference in price For example...."Mr Customer, as you can see....this 1 Carat VVS-1 diamond....F in color ($8000), shines much brighter and is far more beautiful in the light than this 1 Carat SI-1 diamond.... J in color ($3000)." If one diamond shines brighter than another under their special lighting....then it will shine brighter under normal daylight....its not really marketing or advertising....in sales its all about the PRESENTATION!...Feature....Benefit....
  8. Heres an easy one....built on an ETA 7750 platform....ORIS 47mm chrono diver.... or how about a US Navy Seal diver....
  9. One thing you should know about Jomas Shop....they are authorized to sell Bulova and Seiko only....they sell other watches new....but they are not authorized to do so....they buy from vendors who are Rolex, Omega authorized....because they are not authorized to sell these watches as new....you will not get all of the paperwork that comes with the watch....I knew a lady who purchased an Omega from them and she did not get all the paperwork....they said that they could not give it to her because they are not ADs....personally....I think its not a wise decision to buy from them....I spoke with them over the phone myself and they told me the same thing.... Now back to the real issue....what kind of gen to buy??..sounds like Rolex is out of the picture....unless you want to go with the Yachtmaster....IMHO....it is an ugly watch....the bezel is really unattractive to me....they could have done a lot better on the design.... If you are interested in Omega....then I would suggest the SMP Chrono....its solid design will never go out of style and the subdials keep the view interesting....It would take a long time for me to get bored of a watch like that....take away the subdials and I am bored to death.... Panerai is an excellent option....once again I suggest the Chrono....Panerai Daylight....wow....what an incredible watch....so beautiful....yet complicated and bold....while having a lot of class
  10. LOL.... ....thats some funny stuff huh FM?....I mean Fakemaster
  11. Lets not forget also that the longevity of a watch also depends upon the quality of the seals that protects the movement....when a watch is not properly sealed....moisture has a way of creeping into the case....especially in humid climates like Florida and Hawaii....when this happens....the oil breaks down and causes more strain on the movement....this is why a good watch smith will insist upon replacing all the seals when he services a watch
  12. Yes you have seen this list before....too bad it took so long for it to hit this forum....its been up for months over at RWG1....a little update here and a little update there....this list really should be pinned....that way the noobs have a quick and easy reference....
  13. Sweet!...thats good to know....what about the bezel though....will I be able to make a swap?
  14. hmm...not a bad idea....im wondering if the case will accept any other type of movement besides the junk asian it came with....it sits in a plastic shroud while inside the case....would like to go with an ETA....
  15. I got a wild hair up my you know what today and decided to take apart my ugly Yachtmaster....I am hoping that I can convert it into some kind of sub....not sure if the case is worth modding though....looks kind of crappy....tell me what do you think I should or can do with all this stuff.... Id like to make a military sub or something similar....whatever I do....its got to be Rolex based....please help because I dont like the yachtmaster at all....
  16. Unauthorized dealers buy from vendors who are authorized
  17. One of the moderators over at the watchuseek forum stated this.... "The watch is made by the Guangzhou Watch Factory, using an ebauche bought from the Shanghai Diamond Watch Factory. The same watch, but with fewer jewels in the winding module is also produced for Stauer." "They are made on the same production lines as Stauer and Guangzhou's house-brand Dixmont. +/-12sec/day is about right" Now click this link and follow the thread for an interesting explanation.... http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=53960
  18. That is an incredible review Zig....unbelievable photos!....you are the macro master!....lol....cant believe the Chinese are seriously doing this....I have never seen a gold 2834-2 either....was not aware that ETA even made one....I thought the 2834-2 was always silver in color....they should have stamped 2836-2 on that movement....perhaps that is a dead give away....yes there are many differences!....after seeing all of your photos I cant believe the damn thing even runs!
  19. Have you tried giving it a good manual wind?....twist it up about 30 times and see how long she runs
  20. If you would like to see some pictures of the Swiss ETA and the Asian ETA....go to the Watch Collector Galleries....click on PAM111....scroll down to this watch....W-2902 Automatic Asia Eta 2836-2 For Man Vintage (4th from the bottom of the page)....and there is some great photos there of both movements.
  21. Dont get me wrong....I like the chicks....but this sums it up for me.... OLD SCHOOL NEW SCHOOL
  22. Me personally....If I were going to Spain I wouldnt spend much time hanging around the swimming pool....I would be taking advantage of my time there and be absorbing as much of Spain as possible....how much swimming are you gonna be doing anyway seriously???? Just wear the 029 and bring a cheap back up watch in case you have issues with the movement
  23. A member of another forum has asked me to help him determine if this ebay watch is real or fake....There is a couple of problems that I have with this watch.... First of all....The bezel goes out beyond the edge of the case....never seen that before on any SPO.... next....the inner ring on the bezel appears to be too wide....the numbers are scrunched.... also....the winding crown looks a bit too long....sticking out too far....especially for being covered by the bezel a little last....the graphic on the caseback does not look as good as many others in seamaster photos I looked at.... Please give your opinions....seller is in China asking $1800
  24. I did ask her if it was the same watch and she said it was....she is lying....there is no way that I would make a mistake like that....the 2 lines of text really caught my attention and I went home shortly thereafter and immediately started looking at pics on the internet....sucks that ive made myself look like an ass....im sure you are thinking that more than likely I just wasn't paying close enough attention to detail and thought I saw something that I didn't....I am totally [censored]....those mother fu--ers....untrustworthy bastards....switching a watch on me....total [censored]....I will go back into the store a couple of months from now and see if they switched em back....
