  1. Yes I was a little surprised about that also....it was Ben Bridge jewelers.... There was more than one bracelet available....it depends upon the number on the inside of the end link....there was also the alternative of an interchangeable divers extension with a tool kit for around $1200....the tool kits are on ebay though.... I dont think it will be long before CN is producing reps with the new clear see-thru sticker on the back....extremely easy to replicate.... You know it was strange that they also had a ND (no date) sub with holes in the lugs....I asked her about it and she said that it was just an older model.... She also said that Rolex will be phasing out the hollow mid link on many of the models including the SD and Sub....
  2. I went to an AD today to price out a new bracelet for my SSD....$925....I put my noob into my pocket before entering the store.... While I was there I took a look at the new SD and a few other watches....they are no longer using the hologram sticker....the sales lady said it was because of the counterfeiting.... The back of the watch appeared to have a clear see-thru sticker on it with black numbers designating the model.... Im sure a lot of you already know this....but for those of you who dont it is good to know.... NS
  3. Thank you very much!... ....no it was not a custom order....she has this watch in her gallery here on the forum....think I paid $209....ETA 2836-2....paypal....EMS....Im thinking of ordering a presidential bracelet though....this watch on the Rolex website (18K white gold with diamond markers) has a presidential....
  4. This is my first time dealing with Ruby and it definitely wont be my last....everything was perfect.... No....its not cocaine.... The dial came out really nice....perfectly centered day and date.... I might open the caseback someday just to have a look at the ETA....but as for now the second hand is seamless....smooth and I can hear the BPH at 28,800.... A couple of the small luminescent balls at the base of the hour bars are a little off center....but they ALWAYS are on these kind of dials....it does not bother me....nobody will be studing the dial close enough to notice....not a problem.... The crown screws down nice and snug....no gap.... The weight and feel of the watch is very good....smooth....solid and heavy.... Sorry this one is a little blurry....this crown needs a tad bit of work....ever so slightly off center and needs polishing....not a big deal.... The rest of the clasp is very solid....good motion and no play.... Cant complain about the caseback....very nicely done.... A daily wearer for sure....this watch will be a nice alternative to my subs or SDs....I think this watch will be a little less intimidating at work than my subs....because I deal with people who have no money or bad credit....this watch is not as obvious to the average person that it is a Rolex....Sometimes I try to cover up my sub when dealing with people....I dont think I will feel the need to do that with this watch.... NS
  5. I certaintly appreciate the offer!...good hands are hard to find....but the hands that came with my SSD are in good working order....fortunately I did not destroy them....like I did the dial....lol....id post a pic but its quite embarrassing.... I will settle for any seadweller dial that will fit on the ETA and in my case....I might ask Ruby if she knows where to get one.... I have an SSDD at the post office from her right now....cant wait to pick it up tomorrow morning....I should have ordered it with the presidential bracelet though....looks a little more classy that way....hopefully nobody will notice that Rolex does not offer a Gen SSDD....it will have to pass for white gold.... NS
  6. Agreed!...Very kind indeed....Sorry I have not introduced myself....wasnt aware that an intro was proper etiquette.... Here is the photo of what I will be sending Anton....the mess that I have made....a learning experience indeed.... Once again....I will be dealing with the dial and the hands myself....that I believe I am capable of.... BTW....I used to live on Maui....9 years in Kihei....gas is pretty pricy over there eh? NS
  7. Excellent!! That is exactly what I will do....please pm me with your address....I live in Nevada.... As for the dial....it is wasted....I wont settle for the way it looks now....scratched it pretty bad....I accidentally broke off one of the feet....I am going to keep it around for parts....hour markers.... If you could just please put the movement back together I will be great full....I will need to buy a new dial....then I can deal with the hands.... I used BAZZ tutorial....but the keyless works in his photos just doesn't look the same as mine....I got a little confused.... Thats a great idea also....I love NATO straps....not sure if its appropriate for the SSD with the modern HE valve....but I suppose it's fine....I sanded down my SSD bracelet....looks decent.... Thanks for the input and help!!....If anyone knows where to get a SSD dial....or a dial that is correct for the SSD case....please let me know....I need one ASAP! NS
  8. Thanks for all the input guys....appreciate it....
  9. Okay so I managed to reset the 12:00 marker on the dial....which I did a horrible job of and basically ruined my dial....a little help would have been nice.... But now I have an even bigger problem....I pushed the release button too far and had to take the keyless works appart in order to put the button back in place.... In the middle of all of this....a small little gear popped out of the movement and I cannot figure out where it belongs....it is the really small gear at the bottom of this photo.... The movement is 2836-1 and the keyless works is not like the 2836-2....or any other movement in any of the tutorials I have found on this forum.... Does anyone know where it goes? Does anyone want to fix it for me?
  10. Hello everyone.... I just purchased a SSD the other day....unfortunately not so super.... So obviously it needs to be corrected....I need a little advice on how to go about remounting this marker.... I will also need some help with the bracelet....the SELs are smaller than the link that is attached to them....it rubs against the lugs on both sides.... NS
  11. Not much to see here....but ill post the pics anyway....it looks identical to the 2836-2.... How ya like my funky 12:00 marker???? Guess I got my work cut out for me....a not so easy mod.... I altered the pics for clarity....changed the contrast....brightness....saturation....etc....the movement is gold....sorry the pics arent better....my sony cybershot only goes so far.... I guess I wont do the swap with my bad dial and case DRSD 2836-2....after all the 2836-1 is 28,800....seems to be a pretty hearty movement....a good runner so far.... The bracelet is not so good....serial number 78790A in between the SELs....when its on the watch the link attached to the SEL grinds up against the lugs....I might need to mill down the inside of the lugs a little bit to make some room....or mod the links to avoid contact with the lugs....sanding em down....or some other method....
  12. Thanks guys....good to know that the movement was made by ETA....I guess its new old stock....it seems to be running fine.... I was unable to find any info on this movement at Swiss ETA website....HK ETA website is no longer available....so no luck there either....I think its 28,000....just by ear it sounds the same as one of my 2836-2....I have another SD with bad case and dial....but a good 2836-2....I might buy a hand puller and switch the movements.... Ill take a couple of pics tonight when I get home from work.... NS
  13. I recently purchased an SSD from a dealer on another board....besides a couple of small cosmetic issues....it has a major one....the movement is labeled ETA....but it says 2836-1....not....2836-2.... Have any of you ever seen ETA 2836-1? Looks just like the 2836-2....all gold....28,000 BPH.... Maybe I got an Asian ETA clone....not sure.... Let me know if you need pics.... NS
  14. Never swim or shower with your rep unless it has been waterproofed by a watchsmith.... The HE valves in some of the reps are functional....but they wont do you any good unless you are a commercial diver and you spend some time in a decompression tank....
  15. IT IS BETTER TO POST IN A PRE EXISTING THREAD THAN TO START A NEW ONE!!!!....so here goes.... I cant believe that there has not been more info on this board about the King SSD with Gen 3035????.... Is anyone aware of this watch?.... Would like to know if anyone has pulled the trigger on this one....probably in the $2500 range I suppose....my search came up empty handed on this forum.... I will assume the watch has gen hands....crown....tube and stem to go with it.... Kings website....kingwatches.net Just click on Rolex and Seadweller....sweet pics....holy grail?? NS
  16. Yes that is a sweet watch....nice job on the crown guards by the way.... Also....I am not sure if this is something you did or if it is just my computer....but Jessica Alba is running in slow motion....its looks totally awesome....
  17. I agree! Learning more and more about watches all the time in this forum!
  18. How do you care for a manual watch movement? Somebody on another board posed this question and it got me thinking a little bit.... I know that most automatic movements have a clutch system that will prevent the watch from being over-wound....do manual movements have the same feature? Also....how often do you wind a manual....every day....every couple of days....? Seems obvious to me that you should twist it up a few roatations every day....but is it obvious when you should stop winding? Should it be wound slowly....like if you were to wind an automatic....as to help prevent damage to the movement? NS
  19. I have been told that the position of the watch when it is not on your wrist might affect the accuracy....for example....if you took it off before you went to bed and placed it face down....it might be showing a slow reading in the morning....if you placed it face up....it might be showing a fast reading in the morning.... I think that a watch winder is best....that way the watch is not sitting in one position for hours on end.... Other things can affect the accuracy of a watch besides how it is resting....there are a lot of things that can MAGNETIZE a watch....computers....stereo equipment....numerous electronic devices.... When a watch gets magnetized it really screws up the accuracy and it will need to be de-magnetized by a watch smith....they have tools for that sort of stuff....de-magnetizing watches....it is pretty common.... All in all....dont expect your rep watches to keep fantastic time....even gen Rolex is not a very accurate time keeper....most watches with traditional (non quartz) movements are going to be + or - a few seconds every day....you are just going to have to get used to it....besides....what is 20 or 30 seconds anyway.... It is not uncommon for a watch collector to set the time when he puts on his watch....most of us have so many watches that we cant keep all of then running all the time....we just let em wind down....then set em when we put em on....and if you manually wind your automatic movement make sure you do it very slowly....it will damage the movement in time....I prefer not to wind my watches after what The Zigmeister said about it in my poll....Ok or NOT OK to manually wind an automatic watch movement....its in the movement Q&A sub forum.... TS
  20. Lets not forget about the vintage choice.... Daily Beater - Rolex Submariner Dress Watch - Audemars Piquet Grand Complications Smart Casual - Panerai 112 Sporty - Omega Seamaster Chrono Diver Vintage - Rolex GMT Pepsi
  21. Heres some pics of my TTK noob....had it for about 6 months and it is runnin like a champ....
  22. And as of right now that is exactly what needs to be determined....if indeed the watch is lost and not returned to Jos then he certaintly deserves his 55% if the buyer is trying to back out of the sale....the 55% should cover all or atleast a good portion of the cost of the watch plus what he has spent on shipping....that fact that he is willing to send him a replacement watch is certainly generous....
  23. I found this on the ETA HK site....good to know stuff about 7750 kind movements....
  24. Although I am sure Joshua will read this....here is what you should do....and if he is a sensible business man who respects the forum and its members who help him earn a living....he will comply.... You should counter his offer of 55% with 25% and tell him this.... "I understand that we are both in this together....and because of this I will gladly surrender 25% for any shipping charges or other costs that you have paid in an attempt to send me this watch....this way you will not be at a loss....I believe this to be a fair alternative and with no hard feelings....we can part ways"
