  1. Looks like water damage....very HOT water damage....ruined the dial and warped the movement....was probably out of the case when it happened.... Good for parts only I imagine.... EDIT: After looking at it a little longer I can see that it was just prolonged heat exposure....set too close to the radiator for a long period of time....or sat next to something that got it really hot....melted the dial and bent the hands....warped the movement....
  2. I had a little more fun this morning down at the strip again.... After work I bolted on down to the Sahara Casino and bought into their daily 7:00 tournament....I started off real strong....won a lot of pots in the first round....then it all went down hill....I eventually got busted.... So after that defeat and blowing $100 at the Sahara I took a trip back to the Wynn....which has not failed me yet.... I sat at the 2-5 NLH table with a bunch of clowns that were joking around and talking aloud about their hands while STILL in the hand....I guess poker is just entertainment for some people.... A couple of the guys had stacks well over $1500....I came onto the table with only $400....as usual.... I took down a couple of good pots and got it up to about $600....then things went really slow....for a long time I did not catch any good cards....and after taking a couple of chances with some mediocre cards....I was back down to $400....then $375.... I eventually got my hands on pocket Queens.... I raised pre-flop to $25 and got a lot of callers....5 callers I think.... The flop came down 10H 10S JC.... I was under the gun and a little nervous about the 10s on board....so I tried to bully the pot right away with a $50 bet....I got 3 callers....uhhh ohhhh..... The turn is a 5C....no a problem....but I still wanted to protect my QQ hand....so I threw down another $50....only 2 callers this time....but I was starting to think that I must have some serious competition on my hands.... The river card is a JD....uhhh ohhhh.....now ive gotta be screwed....any 10 or J will kill me.... Still being under the gun....I though long and hard about what I should do....I only had about $225 dollars or so left....betting $100 is basically the same as going all in because of the size of the pot and how committed the other players were.... I decided the best move is to check....because I was willing to go all in anyway....so there was a chance that everyone else would check and if I was beat then atleast I would have some money left.... the guy next to me bets $50.....oh crap....now Ive gotta bet something to keep in this....but there was one other person before me.... This guy took a really really long time trying to figure out the best move....and that is what killed the hand for him.... If he had the J or a 10 then it would not have taken him so long to make a move....he really studied the board for a long time and decided to raise it up to $350.... I insta called with my QQ and all my chips....about $225....the guy after me says...."Thank you for that call"....he folds.... The guy who bet the $350 was bluffing and didnt even bother to turn over his cards....he says "You got it man...." That was a $900 pot including my $225 call.... Another easy day at the office....lol....
  3. I think it might have something to do with the fact that he is in Hawaii....GPS may not work well in Hawaii either.... My cell phone is spot on....almost perfectly in sync with my atomic clock....im on the mainland.... BTW....an atomc clock will not work in Hawaii either....it is too far away from Fort Collins Colorado where the clock is located.... I think the best choic for Lanikai is to get his hands on a Short Wave radio and tune into the Pacific Standard Time channel....all it does is tell the time all year long....it will always be 100% correct....he will just have to subtract a few hours for the time difference in Hawaii....
  4. The Zigmeister is good for mods....of course....but not sure if he is around right now.... You should send a PM over to BKLM1234....he is new to this board but has a lot of history on another board....no worries with this guy for sure.... Check out his watch garage in the dealer section....BKs watch garage....
  5. Ya that guy does take some nice photos....I have seen his stuff on ebay before....he has A LOT of Rolex for sale....every model it seems....at decent prices....looks like hes selling em right out of his house....posh neighborhood....he must be an AD or has direct connection to one....
  6. Hello again....back with another poker story....lol I decided to go back down to the Wynn casino yesterday and give the 3-5 NLH table a shot again.... Starting with $400 the table was moving a lot slower than my previous experience....so I had to be patient and just wait for the good cards to come....there was some big stacks on the table....so I couldnt afford to bluff any big pots with my $400....patience was a virtue.... Eventually....a guy sat next to me with about $300 in chips....he was wearing an Ostrich jacket....the only reason why I knew it was Ostrich was because I had seen some straps made out of the same material.... Mr Ostrich jacket suddenly had to leave before he even played one hand....which was good for me because an old man took his place....he was not skilled at NLH.... First of all....he was wearing an old Rolex DD with diamond bezel and markers....and of course the day and date were both incorrect.... Upon closer inspection I could see that the gold was wearing off of the bracelet....my god....the old man was wearing a rep! I couldnt believe it....was kinda hard to spot....but I stared at the watch for a long time and could make out the fading gold....the watch did have a nice sweep though.... He came into the game with about $300 in chips and quickly took down a couple of decent pots....then....I was dealt KK and he raised....I called....he caught a 10 on the flop....checked the flop....bet the turn....I called....he bet the river and called my raise....his A 10 was no good against my KK.... Later on I was on the big blind with 6h 8d....everyone limped in so I got to see the flop for only $5.... It came 5c 10d 7s.... The old man bet $20 and I called....since I had an open ended straight draw I figured it was worth the $20 to see the turn card....everyone else folded.... Low and behold the turn card....9h!!! I caught my straight....he bets....I called.... The river was a rag card....he checked....I bet....he goes all in with about $250.... He had A 10 AGAIN!!....lol....cleaned the guy out and I walked out of the poker room up $600....lol....easy day at the office....
  7. I think its a very classy watch....lots of appeal....but....dont you think its a little silly to wear a watch that displays the YEAR?...like just in case you forget what year it is? Patek would never make a watch that displays the year anyway....what are you supposed to do in 10 years when the wheel runs out....walk around with a $50,000 watch displaying the wrong year....
  8. Gentlemen please....relax....take a deep breath....ahhhh.... Lets all try and agree on one thing.... NOW THIS IS HIDEOUS!
  9. This post is long....but good! Okay....today was a lot better for me....won back all the money I lost the other day + profit....and heres what happened.... I decided to take a trip down to the strip today and see if I could make a little dough at the Bellagio.... When I entered the poker room I was a little surprised how small it was....compared to other poker rooms I have seen....at any rate I asked to get on the 1-2 NLH table...."Sorry sir, the lowest limit table we have here is 2-5 NLH.".... I was a little concerned because I have never actually played 2-5 NL before....I decided to get on the list anyway and give it a shot.... After waiting about a half hour I decided to give the Wynn Casino a call and see if they had a 1-2 NL game....the lady said that they did and so I put my name on the list....but I hadn't fully decided if I was gonna go down there because I was curious about the 2-5 game.... While waiting I spoke to a guy waiting by the door wearing a Daytona....SS white dial....I asked him if he was waiting for the 2-5 and if had ever played it here before....he said "Oh ya....all the time" I said that I have never played it before and that I was a little concerned about playing against people who pre-flop raise $25-$50 often....he said with a little chuckle...."It happens!" So after a few more minutes I decided to head on down to the Wynn and get on the 1-2 NL.... Upon arriving nearly 45 minutes after being put on the list....they called my name! I was right on time....but something was a little strange....it was a 1-3 NL game NOT a 1-2....hmmm....I have heard about this game before....$1 and $3 chips.....oh well....Ill give it a try.... I played for about 90 minutes....It is the stupidest fkn game ever....$3 chips dont compute well in my head....or the dealers head....or ANYONES head for that matter....the action was seriously lame and the only good thing about that table was the guy across from me wearing a Hublot BB.... This one.... I asked him how he liked his BB and he said it was a great watch....the guy next to him had the nerve to ask him how much it cost! Idiot.... He answered...."More than all the money on the table!"....we had a good laugh.... I finally got tired of the stupid game....and if you are new to poker I suggest you stay away from it....not a good idea to learn poker with $3 chips.... I got brave and decided to head over to the 2-5 NL game on the other side of the room....kinda funny....I left the Bellagio in fear of the 2-5 and ended up on one anyway! When I sat down there was a couple of guys with monster stacks....I was in the last seat position....the guy in 1st seat had well over $1400 in chips AND a healthy stack of $100 bills cash....another guy had over $1200 and the other guys had like $400 - $800 in chips and some cash.... I though I was up against some serious players....but after only a few hands I realized that they were a bunch of idiots....only a couple of decent players at the table.... I took down a couple of nice pots....both over $400.....then....the monster came.... I was small blind....dealt JJ.... The dude with the hugh stack of dough raises to $30....5 callers before me....I raised to $60....AND EVERYONE CALLS! Flop comes QH 6D 8S....nothing special....I check and the dude bets like $50....2-3 callers including me and the turn card hits.... JACK!!! Now I got trip jacks.... I check and the dude bets $150....everyone folds except for me with a call.... The river card is a 6.... So the board is Qh 6D 8S JC 6S I have a full house....Jacks full of 6s....pretty deadly hand.... So I make a weak bet....$100....enticing him to think that maybe im a little scared.... He raises $250!!!! I call and he turns over a 6 for trip 6s.... The full house was a crusher and I took down the whole pot.... After only 1 hour I was up $1000....and that guy finally lost all of his dough.....except for a few $100 bills behind where his stack used to be....lol....what a donkey.... Not a bad experience for first time at the 2-5 table!!
  10. A friend of mine gave me a big stack of poker videos....including Howard Ledderer and Phil Helmuth videos....also a couple of Mike Caro and David Sklanski vids....I watched the videos over and over and over again....I also learned a lot from my friends and the internet....It also takes a lot of sense and intuition....in short you have to know when you are probabaly beat.... I won my first poker tourney about 1 month after getting the videos.... I dont think I will be able to play tonight....I have to write a couple papers for school and I dont get off work until 7pm....
  11. Okay....the cards were lousy last night and so were the watches....down $200....ouch....I played a lot of good hands but got beat anyway....finally I went all in with my last $53 on a flush AND gut shot straight draw....no luck....turns out I had more outs than I though also....I had Kc Qc and the caller had 66....flop was 10c 9h 3c....I needed any K Q J or club to win....wow....
  12. I am averaging +$200 a day....so if you count the income from my job (Which is a struggle right now) and poker I am making it....not with a lot of extra money at the end of the month....but still making it.... I am gonna have to move to the strip here pretty soon and take advantage of the tourists....Caesars and Wynn are probably good choices....I hear the Mirage can be good also but there is A LOT of really good players down there....its just that the casino I play at is literally 3 minutes from my house....
  13. I did ask him if it was an automatic and he said that it was....quartz was the first thing that crossed my mind also.... Yes 1-2 NLH is a grind....a lot of tight players.... This one guy (who practically lives in the poker room) keeps urging my to step over to the 3-5 NLH table....but the rumor has it that those guys have way too much money and chase every hand down to the river regarless of risk....I think ill stay away....I hear the 10-20 down at the Bellagio is a good game....maybe someday.... I dont get off work untill 10pm tonight....but ill try and hit the tables for atleast 2 hours....ill keep ya guys posted and thanks for the responses....
  14. I recently started a thread in the Rolex forum about when I helped an old man with his DD in the poker room....since then I have had numerous conversations about watches while playing poker.... The poker room where I play at is crawling with Rolex, Omega, Breitling and Panerai.... Because of this I have decided to start this thread and keep it updated regularly with the different watch related experiences that I have in the poker room....I am now playing poker full time....atleast 5 hours a day....my job job is for extra money and benefits.... I entered the poker room today at 4:30 wearing my rep Rolex Sub with blue bezel and dial and had to wait about a half hour to get a seat on the 1-2 no limit table.... About 3 hours later a fella sat down in the 1st seat position and soon after that I noticed that he was wearing a Rolex sub....after a few glances I was able to see that he was wearing the gen of my watch! Oh my god....I have to admit it was a little embarassing because of how bad the gold was on my watch compared to his AND the color of my bezel and dial....My watch was way off....gold and blue was FAR too bright.... But this did not stop me from engaging in conversation....so I says to him while point at my watch...."Dime a dozen I guess."....he looks at my watch and acknowledges that we are wearing the same thing....he either did not notice that mine was a little strange looking or he was cool enough to not call me out.... A little while later he asks me if I like watches and I said that I was a collector....he said that he had just recently purchased a BERTOLUCCI....I told him that I had never heard of it before....he described it as a cross between an Omega and Corum....he also said that the quality rivals that of our Rolex's.... I assume this is what he bought..... I asked him if he had any Omegas....yep....he owns four....all seamasters....3 vintage and one modern....geez man....I dont even own a gen....hopefully if my poker skills get a little better I can afford one.... BTW....I did walk out 7 hours later with $400 to the good!
  15. It happened again....last night....at the poker table.... This old guy sits next to me and I immediately noticed his YG DJ on a jubilee.... After a couple of hands I could see that his date was set to the 28th.... So I mentioned it to him after complimenting his watch and he says...."Oh really....man my eyesight is so bad I havent been able to read that thing for over ten years....blah blah blah....I bought the watch 20 years ago." Then I told him the story about the guy from the other night with the DD.... He then takes off his watch and hands it to me....lol He said that the reason he likes it is because of how light it is....and he was right....compared to the DD it was about 3/4 to 1/2 the weight.... The same night I was sitting at another table and the guy to my left was wearing a GMT with black and red bezel....holes in the lugs....we talked a long time about Rolex....he said that he also owns an old plexi GMT from the early 70s that his father bought when he was born....his father had his name engraved on the caseback and when he graduated from high school his father gave it to him....he says that he keeps it locked up and never wears it....what a shame....
  16. I do not believe it was a Presidential....just a YG Day Date with 12 diamonds.... Didnt hurt me none....I walked out + $300! He actually played a couple of really bad hands and lost a lot of money.... The flop came down....8D JD JH.... The guy to his right bets $40 and the old man calls.... The turn card was 7D....so the board shows 8D JD JH (7D).... The guy to his right bets $50 and the old man calls.... The river came 7C....so the board shows 8D JD JH 7D (7C).... The guy to his right bets $100....the old man goes all in with $125 and gets called.... Poor old man turns over a flush....he should have known that the guy he was up against had either a 7 or a JACK making a full house....and that is exactly what happened....he showed a JC 10C for a boat.... Oopsies....wrong time to go all in....with that dangerous river card....
  17. I was playin poker today on a 1-2 no limit table when an elderly man sat next to me....after the hand was over I noticed that he was wearing an old vintage YG Rolex Day Date with 12 diamond hour markers on the bezel and bar markers on the dial.... After a few hands I was taking a closer look at the watch and I noticed that it was reading SATURDAY....so when the hand was over I says to the guy.... "Hey, you watch is readin that its Saturday there buddy." So he says.... "Oh ya....I dont even bother with that stuff....I just make sure that the time is correct....thats about it." So I says.... "Hey ya know I can fix that up for ya right now if you want." He IMMEDIATELY takes off the $15,000 watch and hands it over to me....wow....I was a little shocked.... When I first held the watch in my hand I was really surprised at just how heavy it really is....this thing makes my rep DD feel like a Casio.... Here is a picture of the watch he handed me....the bracelet is correct in the photo....but the bezel had 12 diamonds and the dial had bar markers.... I unscrewed the crown and pulled it out to the date position....I adjusted the day to Tuesday and corrected the date as well....he had it set to the 27th....Im not sure if he had the am pm correct on it....Ill have another look at it next time I see him at the table.... While I was fiddling with the watch the dealer asked me if I was a jeweler....no....just a watch collector.... Then the dealers changed and the next dealer was wearing a TT Date Just with a fluted bezel....lol....seems like everybody has a Rolex now a days....and the guy across from me was wearing an SMP!....the guy on my right had a RADO with diamond pave dail.... You see a lot of nice watches in the poker room....and so far I have only seen one rep....it was a lousy sub with a green bezel....pearl was puke....
  18. Thanks pal....I did search before making the post but did not find this one.... Thank you!
  19. I recently broke the stem to my 2836-1....so I ordered a new one from Ofrei.... The problem is that the new stem is a little bit longer than the broken one.... See.... Am I supposed to cut or snip off the excess? I was also wondering if maybe when I removed the old stem from the crown I twisted it off and left part of it inside of the crown.... Any help would be appreciated.... NS
  20. Nice little thread you started here kid....congrats! Just start with the 42mm and go from there....you will know when enough is enough....
  21. Josh swears up and down that he doesnt drop ship and that he QCs every watch before it goes out....how could that be when so many members are getting watches with the WRONG movement.... The first watch I got from Andrew had the wrong movement in it....was 2834 instead of 2836-2....I know that these movements are basically the same....but still....what I got and what was advertisied were two different things....I was expecting gold plated 2836-2 and got silver 2834.... Even Ruby....who has excellent product and customer service....sent me a Day Date with ETA clone.... Does this look right to you? It seems to be a pretty hearty movement so I didnt bother sending it back or complaining....but still....I over paid....and many others are as well from many of our trusted dealers.... Maybe we are better off buying cheapo reps with asians inside and just ordering the ETA movement from offrei....then putting em inside....will cost ya more....but then you know what your getting....
  22. Yes....I had the same problem with one of my early reps....the divers extension would come open every time I took the watch off....
  23. Yes indeed that is very very sad....myspace strikes again.... However....it is also a little too simple.... There MUST have been some other psychological factors involved in her decision to hang herself....people dont just get an offensive email or myspace message and turn around and hang themselves....some other form of abuse must have been present....most likely family related....severe family issues or psychological trauma/illness must have been a factor as well....possibly drug abuse....hard to say.... At any rate....there simply has to be more to this than what is on the surface....its just too simple....it has to be more complicated....
  24. I did a little bit of research....this watch was made in 1999....it is 39mm....just a hair smaller than what is out now....there are other differences as well.... Looks like the price of $2200 is a little steep.... Speedmaster Day Date on the bay....
