  1. And the collection continues.... I arrived at work today and found a watch magazine in my bin. For some reason I cant remember the name of the magazine, but the issue is completely devoted to Omega. Page after page after page of photos kept me from reading the articles. Several topics were discussed; the history of the company and movements, rare models, key individual influencers (including Cindy Crawford believe it or not (Constellation)), and many other subjects will provide a fun read tomorrow. For some reason I thought that one of my co-workers brought me the magazine. When I asked her where she got the magazine, she said, "Oh, its not from me....its from Alex." Wow, how cool. The big guy thought to bring me some good watch stuff to read during the slow hours of the day. He showed up in the afernoon and I had a chance to thank him for the mag and to ask him "Do you like Omega?" He says, "No. I do own a few pieces, but it is not my favorite brand, however they do make one of the best movements." Maybe he knows a little more about watches than your average high roller who slaps down some plastic at a jewelry store and calls himself a watch collector....lol. Oh....by the way....it was a gold Datejust on a jubilee today.
  2. Looks like the red clam shell keeps the SS case within a safe temperature range, regardless of how cold or hot the environment is. Since the crystal is attached to the case it all balances out....so to speak.
  3. That is actually an excellent idea! Although most homeowners wont stay in a house long enough to build equity that requires a capital gains tax, INVESTORS would find this idea of 0% capital gains very attractive. Investors have to pay a capital gains tax regardless of the ammount of equity that accummulates. If the house is bought for $400,000 and a year later its worth $435,000, the investor would be taxed on the $35,000; but if there is 0% capital gains tax, then the investor can keep ALL the equity, even after 10 years of appreciation. Capital gains tax has always been a downside for property investments. Thats why this idea is great for investors and not for those who will live in the home. I suspect that many investors would jump on that bandwagon immediately. Yep, thats why it makes sense for investors. That would be only a small percentage of home owners.....basically unmeasurable. Nearly all people who forclose on a house do so because they cant make the payments.....because they fell into an attractive offer....teaser rates, etc....and when the offer expired, the house payments became unmanageable overnight.
  4. Excellent insight Chief! Thank you for the response. My father will appreciate the read later tonight. The purpose of the solution to prevent people from going into foreclosure by relocating them into a foreclosed house that they can afford. If the monthly payments are based upon an outstanding mortgage that is significantly higher than the actual value of the house, then making those monthly payments does not make sense, as you have described. Is it not possible to structure a home loan that is based upon the actual value of the home and not an outstanding balance? Honestly, my father and I do not fully understand all the in's and out's of the realestate industry. Thats why we need input like this. The solution sounds simple, but perhaps simple is too good to be true. I think that the bail out plan can work, as long as the money is used correctly and not for paying big bonuses to executives....crap like that. Congress should regulate how the money is being spent to prevent inappropriate use of the fund. Also, laws should be developed that prevent the crisis from happening all over again. Wouldnt that be typical if the government bailed out all these financial institutions and then they pull the same [censored] again once things are back to normal?
  5. My father recently came up with a potential solution to the mortgage crisis. RWG is a diverse community; I value the knowledge and intellect of its members and look forward to reading your responses, criticisms, and suggested changes to my fathers idea. We live in Las Vegas NV., and the solution could possibly be repeated throughout the USA. The proposed solution: Las Vegas has a large number of foreclosed homes, abadoned homes, and homes in the beginning stages of foreclosure. Nevada is the ideal city for the method described below. The basic concept, is to move people who have lost or may lose their homes into a foreclosed home they can afford. To make this happen, Las Vegas banks need to form a review committee of representatives from local banks and compile a list of all foreclosed, abandoned, and mortgage default homes in the area. Homeowners who have lost (or may lose) their homes would be contacted, and with their input, make a decision as to a monthly payment they can afford. The size/type of home that meets their needs would be determined. Then the committee would try to find another foreclosed home that meets the criteria. Obviously, it would be a lower priced home than their old one. If they find a home that meets the criteria, the homeowner would be shown the home (or homes, if more than one.) At this point, the homeowner has two options. They can proceed with the foreclosure on their current home, or agree to move to the new affordable home and assume the mortgage. Banks can encourage people in this process by: (1) letting them transfer the principle accumulated on their old home loan to the new home loan and (2) subsidizing part or all of the moving costs. In addition, the homeowner gets into a home they can afford versus damaging their credit rating and being forced to rent or leave the area. Banks also benefit. Instead of being forced to sell foreclosed homes at big discounts to the original loan amount, or leaving them vacant until prices increase, they can fill them with new owners who can afford the mortgage. This process, if successful, might significantly reduce the number of foreclosed and abandoned homes in the Las Vegas area. Both the homeowners and banks can join in this win-win situation. Questions or comments please!
  6. I'll take a stab at it.... 1st photo....clone 2nd photo...genuine 3rd photo....clone
  7. Yeah, he probably doesn't appreciate replica watches. Im affraid if he finds out hes going to think im a phony or something. He is a Russian/Jew, im not sure how he will react. I have been leaving my reps at home since I started this job. I got a little tired of wearing Seiko and Citizen for the last month, so I decided to wear my noob mariner today. If he shows up, i'll slip it under my sleeve....
  8. I recently accepted a leasing agent position at an apartment complex here in Vegas. The owner of the property (5 properties total) is nuts about watches; im a little jealous because he owns my two favorites. The other day he wore a Rolex dress watch....not sure what kind it was....Celini or something like that. Im not a Celini fan so I didnt think anything of it.... Then he shows up a couple days later wearing a TT Rolex GMT. That definately got my attention. I commented on the watch; he took it off and handed it to me. Our reps are so different in the way they look and feel. The next day hes sporting another favorite of mine....A Breitling Chronomat. I commented on that watch also and he said, "What are you, some kind a watch collector or something?" I told him that I love watches. He said he has a Chonomat Evolution also....geeze. To my utter surprise....he shows up the following day wearing my number 2 favorite watch.....A Corum Golden Bridge. I was in a little bit of shock. We talked about the watch for a couple seconds and he said that Corum now offers a new version of the Golden Bridge.....I havent seen he photos yet. I wonder what he will be wearing today.... He is also very generous....he bought my boss a Rado with diamonds and has bought expensive watches for employees in the past. If I stick around here long enough maybe he will add something nice to my collection....wishfull thinking....
  9. Here is an interesting fact.... For the first time in history, Missouri's majority vote did not side with the elected president. Missouri has never been wrong. Up untill now, Missouris majority vote has always been correct.
  10. Obama won comfortably, just like I said he would. The largest margin of victory since Lyndon B. Johnson (1963).
  11. Obama's victory is potentially the greatest of all American historical events. Kennedy can hold a candle to this guy, but hand it to him immediately. Interesting viewpoint. Now thats what I call a gamble. Cuba???? lol....dont be so paranoid. Obama will bring balance to our nation. Thats what Joe Biden is for! Biden knows the in's and out's of it all.
  12. Obama first became a Senator in 1996 (Illinois). He served as Illinois Senator for 8 years. He won the 2004 US Senate race and has been serving in the US Senate since 2005. Thats A LOT more then 143 days. Not to mention that Obama graduated from Columbia University in political science and earned a law degree from Harvard University. In his senior year at Harvard, he was the head of the Harvard law review. He spent about 12 years teaching constitutional law at the Chicago Law School. That will suffice. However, McCain is qualified to be president. He has been a senator for 22 years, and was also elected to the HOuse of Representatives in 1982. He is a genuine war hero.
  13. Obama will win comfortably. Many Americans have found it hard to vote for McCain for the following reasons: 1. He chose Palin as vice president for ALL THE WRONG REASONS. He didnt choose her because he thought she was the best person for the job, or even someone who could do a sufficient job. He chose Palin to gain some votes from a few of the disgruntled Hillary supporters who were all excited about having a woman in the white house.....but that is only part of it. McCain chose Palin because she is inexperienced. By choosing Palin, he forced the media to shift their narrative to that of "Experience" and the importance of having "Experience in the white house"....and that is exactly what happened. It opened the door for McCain to say...."Is it experience that you are all worried about? Then look no further, because all the experience you need IS RIGHT HERE." Thats all he wanted....an excuse to talk about his experience. Most Americans have seen McCains choice of Palin for what it actually is.....PURE POLITICS. 2. McCains vision of the future of America is unclear. He has not shown any consistency in his approach to solving Americas economic problems. His explanations for how he intends to make a difference, seem to change from week to week. 3. McCains plans to reform the American economy do not reflect any NEW ideas. Hense the term "Its just more of the same." Many Americans are not happy with Bush, and they are not thrilled about the idea of the new president continuing his work, which is exactly what will likely happen. 4. McCain says the America needs to "Hold face" before pulling the troops out of Iraq. A serious problem is attached to his statement...."We must hold face." AT WHAT POINT IS FACE HELD??? HOW IS SOMETHING LIKE THAT DETERMINED??? HOW MANY SOLDIERS HAVE TO DIE TO HOLD FACE??? HOW MANY BILLIONS OF TAX DOLLARS MUST BE SPENT TO ACHIEVE HIS UNDEFINABLE VISION OF VICTORY??? It is absolutely absurd. 5. McCain shot his campaign in the foot by making Obama out to be a terrorist. He attempted to connect Obama to a 1960's radical (Bill Ayers). You see....Back in the 1990's Obama decided to work on educational policy and school reforms issues. Basicall, he tried to improve U.S. scholastic quality and help low income families put their children through school. Because he got involved in those issues, he became associated with other people who were working on the same thing. One of those people, was Bill Ayers. Ayers was a 1960's radical who bombed government buildings (Zero fatalities) in protest of the Vietman war. Ayers served his time in prison, and focused his energy on current issues, like school reform, when he was released. Obama and Ayers served on the board for The Woods Fund of Chicago....BIG [censored] DEAL. Woods Fund website 6. McCain has tried to make Obama look like a Socialist. Because of his terrorist and Socialist allogations towards Obama, many Americans have been left with a sour taste in their mouth from John McCain. McCain really went over the top this time; he displayed pathetic efforts of a desperate republican, scrambling for ammo to fight a losing battle with. Although Obama's plans for America do indirectly reflect aspects of Socialism, his plans do not conform with a standard, typical, ideal or partial Socialist agenda. An ideal Socialist government tax system will consider the average income of of all its nations citizens. Then money will be taken from the wealthy and spread around to the remaining citizens untill everyone has the same or a determined level of equality. That is Socialism. The United States tax system generates a certain amount of revenue every year. Under Obama's tax plan, that revenue will remain the same. The DIFFERENCE is that a higher percentage of that revenue will come from from individual and families who earn over $200,000 per year; a lower percentage of that revenue will come from the rest of the country who earns less than $200,000 per year. That is NOT Socialism. Obama made a huge mistake when he said "Spread the wealth." It opened the door for a bunch of pea brains to point the finger at Obama and say...."Hes a Socialist." Surely it has costed him some votes. Colin Powell hit the nail on the head....I agree with everything Powell said about Obama and McCain; he represents the majority of the USA....the Obama supporters....take a look at this video. Colin Powell supports Obama Nightstroker
  14. I suggest you stay away from the Daytona....it is know to have many problems with the subdial mechanisms....alot of members can attest to this....also there are many members who have been waiting quite a long time for this problem to be fixed....and waiting they will continue to do.... I would like to point out the Demon Slayers post count is at 666....
  15. Dont get too excited....lol....he doesnt even have the watch yet! Post the pics when it arrives and THEN you will know what you have paid for....
  16. I think he may have already broken the watch.... Could the clicking and slipping he is experiencing be coming from stripped teeth on the click wheels slipping over themselves?
  17. Heres a couple of snaps for ya.... You decided.... Quick edit: First off I would like to say that no James Bond would ever wear an old vintage Rolex with no crown guards out into the war zone....not gonna happen.... Also....he would never wear it that loose either....in fear of it getting snagged on something and tearing his arm off....lol When are they gonna realize its time for a Breitling Emergency?
  18. I dont think the $1.6 Million in sales was part of his though process when he decided to give you the box.... If it was....that is a strange way of saying thank you or good job.... My guess is that he was trying to say that he likes you (Not in a gay way of course) and that he figured you would appreciate having the box.... Keep the polishing cloth and sell the box on Ebay....lol....its not like your ever gonna buy a rep or gen Cellini anyway.... Edit: Oh I see now....it is a vintage box....probably for a TT Datejust....not Cellini....
  19. Agreed 100% How the hell that guy got to commentate on MNF is beyond me....his commentary sucks and I believe that over 90% of the football fans out there feel the same way.... If you pop into any online forums that discuss the issue not one person speaks up for Tony....everyone bashes him....regardless of whether or not they feel the comment was right or wrong....
  20. OMG....I didnt know that he said that....that is really wrong and funny all at the same time.... He must have said that either towards the end of his career when he was losin it....or during the early 60s.... Thanks for the comments on this so far guys....I see that im not the only one who thinks that the whole Tony K thing was blown way out of proportion....
  21. Im sure many of you were watching the Monday night game yesterday.... If you were paying attention you would have noticed that Tony Kornheiser made a comment that has stirred up some bad brew.... Here is a link to a video feed where you can hear his statement and appology.... Tony's statement and appology I would like to hear your comments on this subject.... IMHO....I do not think that it was improper.... It would have been different if he said this...."I will pick up your dry cleaning in the morning."....implying that it is typical for Hispanics to have low paying blue collar jobs.... So I do not understand why so many people think it was racist or wrong for him to say...."Will you pick up my dry cleaning in the morning?" He was just making a 'Look everyone, I cant speak spanish' joke....I believe it was totally taken the wrong way.... Also....I am not saying that I like Tony or his ability as a football announcer....because in fact he is down right lousy at it....
  22. No boobs yet?...hmmm....heres what im thinkin.... Select from one of the following.... A. He never had a girlfriend.... B. If there was a girl....she didnt have nice boobs.... C. He never actually took any pictures of the boobs.... D. They are still together and she wont let him take the damn pics.... E. He is selling off some of his reps to pay for her boob job and THEN take the pics....
