  1. Oh boy, what a post. Thanks so very much for the home-made tuto Nanuq! I think I can handle this now, more confidence, but - the part about driving over it, surely you jest? I've been on this forum long enough to know of your reputation for driving over watches, flipping them over the sides of boats, and "ahem" cooking them on a stovetop. Now I'm excited, let you all know how it goes.
  2. Well you know Trevor, his english language skills are not very good. I could not get specifics out of him, and the lag time between e-mails was so long it was maddening, I gave up on the deal.
  3. NY bezel what is that, not familiar. Why would I regret not using one? Thanks for all the advice guys. I had no idea this was going to be so involved. I have the black bezel from David, I'd like to fit that, if possible. Grinding the inner wall with a dremel...I don't even own this tool. I did find a bezel removal tool on eBay, current bid is $50, new ones are $100. OK, this seems somewhat above my capabilities, which modder would be able to fit a black bezel for me? Either the DW I have or a NY bezel which I woud buy. Thanks again.
  4. Thanks much for the replies guys. Sounds a bit tricky, I've never done this and am worried I'll bend the bezel. Well I'll give it a try.
  5. I have one of his vint Daytonas, right now it has the steel bezel. A black one came with the watch and I'd like to put it on. A long time ago I sent the watch to Ubi who installed a lovely replacement crystal but now the bezel is on very tight. I kinda sorta tried to pry off the bezel using a pocket knife blade but it won't budge and I don't want t scratch the case. Is there a technique to getting this steel bezel off? Thanks very much.
  6. I'm no expert, but, it looks pretty nice to me, bezel engravings nice and thick. How's the glide lock mechansm, firm and precise? From which TD?
  7. Hi guys I contacted Trevor about getting the new Seamaster Pro 300 ceramic in blue, I chose him because he had the best price for a few other watches I want. He replied that he wouldn't recommend the new Seamaster ceramic, he's had too many problems and returns with it. This is news to me, I don't know if he was just blowing smoke because he ran out of them and couldn't get more or if it's the truth. Anyone care to comment?
  8. Dude, I know you're new but this watch has been discussed to death, do a search.
  9. Is this the real Kuvarsit? Usual backdrop for his photos is crocodile skin. Price?
  10. So, do you guys think it's worth the gamble to buy TS Watch's updated Porto with 1 year warranty?
  11. Not eBay, I would like to buy and support Offshore/Watchbitz, a forum member who has a watch parts supply business, but he has 3 different sets of assorted sized springbars to choose from, it would help to know what size I need to buy.
  12. Update: I tried to measure the freaking broken springbar but it's sooo petite and skinny (sorry bourbon talking) that I could not get an accurate measurement. (No caliper, just steel ruler...no good, is it 1.6mm or 1.8 mm thick? Arrgh. Sigh. I've had this watch for 2 weeks now, haven't been able to wear it. OK, one last time, some one who has Angus' Red Sub, please, know what size and width springbar I would need to buy - that would fit into end of diver extension which then clicks into the clasp? Thanks much.
  13. Thanks for responses gentlemen. I'll measure and order some from Offshore/watchbitz. I have a feeling the jeweler was probably a bit rough re-installing the springbar inside the clasp, and it gave out.
  14. Hi guys, I just bought a very cool vintage Red Sub from Angus. Been having trouble sizing the bracelet, one screw was screw was impossibly frozen in the link. So I took it to a jeweler who finally removed the link with much effort. I was so happy when I came home, finally able to wear it, but the bracelet still felt a bit too loose. I depressed the springbar inside the clasp and it broke, the end cap came off, SO frustrating. I was looking at the broken springbar and it is very poor quality, could have broken off in the street. Does anyone know what size and thickness springbar I need to buy - this is the one that is attached to end of the diver's extension and sits within the clasp. I've never had to buy replacement springbars, new experience but I'm thinking I should replace them on all my Rollies. Thanks very much.
  15. I wear it so I can slide 1 pinkie under, needs to be tight enough not to slide up and down. I have a situation now in which the bracelet is a bit loose - my new vintage Red Sub from Angus, I removed all links but one, screw is frozen. It is driving me crazy, watch slides up my arm, or down to base of my wrist, crown is digging into top of my hand.
  16. Thanks much for replies guys, you are the best! I'm taking the watch and bracelet to one more jeweler in the city today, maybe he can free that last screw. So annoying if I have to send the bracelet back to Angus.
  17. OK thanks so much, good to know I'm not that stupid LOL. And to re-install bracelet, I push the spring bar through the lug holes and it will lock in place?
  18. HI guys So I bought a vintage Red Sub from Angus, I'm new to vintage Rolex, I absolute love this watch. I have a slim wrist and had to remove as many links as possible, it was difficult, the screws were VERY tight, took me over 1 hour. I need to remove 1 last link, the screw just won't budge, tried everything - solvents, heat, cold. At this point screw head is getting stripped and I need to stop. So I contacted Angus, he said to send back the bracelet and he would send me another, all for free. To me "for free" means air mail, so the whole thing will take probably about 6 weeks, which I'm not happy about. I'll have to negotiate something with him. I guess I could wear it on a NATO strap during this process, sigh. Anyway, sorry for noob question but - how do I remove the bracelet from the watch head? There are metal tabs completely covering the spring bar access points between the lugs, on the underside of the watch. There are lug holes drilled all the way through to outside of lugs. Do I push into one lug hole from the outside of the lug to release the spring bar? I don't want to screw up anything here. Thanks much.
  19. I recently got a vintage Red Sub 1680 tropic dial from Angus - I am absolutely in love with this watch. I put it next to my older Sub C (grayish bezel, yuck) and it makes the newer style Sub look cheap, vulgar, blingy. The classic design elements are all exaggerated and out of proportion. The vintage Sub is a beautiful example of superb industrial design, every element is just right. i am completely sold on the classic Subs now.
  20. Yes, please elaborate, this is def not smurf blue, much darker
  21. Spencer Davis I'm a Man - to me one of the best bass/organ riffs ever, instantly recognizable. He was about 15 years old when he did this.
  22. What exactly is wrong with the BP bracelet? Sorry if this has been discusses before.
  23. madmex, which dealer are you using for your blue SMP?
  24. madmex, from whom are you getting your blue SMP?
