  1. OK, I've looked around some more and this is what I've concluded: The Smurf was the first version of the 2008 Blue Sub, it's still around. Somewhere along the line another version of the 2008 Blue Sub came out - with a darker, more royal blue dial/bezel. This is the version I want. The lighting used by dealers when taking photos varies SO much that you think you are looking at different versions of the Blue Sub, but in fact it's the exact same watch. I think I' ll go with Joshua's budget version, and the QC photos will show me the true color of the blue dial/bezel. Thanks much for your input.
  2. Thanks for replies guys. I am looking for the blue Sub with the modern updated 2008 case though, and wondering if it comes with a blue that does not scream Smurf. If I can't find one with the updated chunkier case, these older style Subs from Watcheden and Silix actually look very nice.
  3. Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a modern style SS/blue dial Submariner for summer. I've been to all the dealers' websites and the blue ranges from the Smurf blue to a beautiful dark, rich navy blue on trustytime's site. My question is - is there more than one version of the blue color for the modern style Sub? I don't care for the Smurf and am hoping there is a version of the moder SS Sub in which the blue dial & bezel is a darker, less bright than Smurf blue. Thanks very much.
  4. Wow, gorgeous and different! Case design related to the Porsche?
  5. Regarding Hublots, the strap may not conform enough to your wrist - it will stick away from your wrist one either side of the lugs. I have 6.5" wrist, tried on an HBB at the AD, did not care for the fit.
  6. I pre-ordered an Olivier bronze dive watch (a new boutique start up) watch last December, put $200 down. Been following posts by the owner on a gen watch forum, he says deliveries will begin in May, but in the back of my mind I'm wondering if there will be many delays. Getting a bit nervous about this.
  7. I DETEST Micky D's....if I'm gonna clog my arteries it has to be a Culver's butter burger.
  8. Time to call in the Mythbusters guys...
  9. Good Lord, in my 8+ years of rep collecting I've never heard a dealer threatening to do something like this.
  10. I have the GTXXL chrono from Joshua, amazing replication. I don't think it comes with SS bracelet though.
  11. These pre-paid credit cards, do they work for international transactions (from the US)?
  12. Who is Lawrence? Only Lawrence I know is house of souvenirs, now asia-krono
  13. This Hillary Tenzing edition is pure marketing cr*p for gullible buyers, but I love the look with the NATO strap, so thanks for giving me the idea. I"ll accomplish this for about $150 lol.
  14. I (6.5" wrists) would love a 42mm version, very handsome watch. Sadly the factories are too busy pumping out base models ad nauseum.
  15. I'm very interested in this new white Exp too, but I'm going to wait a bit until supply gets sorted out. Good luck with this, Andrew is an excellent dealer but sometimes you get into a situation in which the dealer just doesn't see what you see, hate when that happens.
  16. I was going to buy a Steinhart GMT red/black bezel but RWG member rckh's experience stopped me. He ordered one from Gnomonwatches and it came with many unacceptable issues, he sent it back to them.
  17. The bezel numerals bother me - they should be closer to the crystal. Other than that it looks good.
  18. Fake watch - it should look massive on her skinny wrist - it does not.
  19. Eddie Lee pricing...reminds me of the fact that you charged $125 for a wood cigar pen I've seen everywhere on eBay and Etsy for an average of $35.
  20. Fascinating, Pete. Thanks again, I have a new appreciation of Pam dials, remarkable work.
  21. Well I had no idea that the fabrication of gen Pam dials was so involved, thanks so much for the education Pete. Quite the amazing process, I just can't see any of the rep factories taking the time to reproduce these dials accurately.
  22. From my understanding the guy who is selling WM9 is not the original George, he disappeared. Who knows what you will get.
