  1. outta town gents.....will be back soon...hang in there
  2. newman dials had the outside edge of the seconds totalizer close to the edge of the dial.......
  3. I could have 10 at once for an hour or 1 for 10 hours, or 10 different ones for an hour each.......
  4. friggin' expensive if you want a rep you won't get called out on but i will say that a gen in the same condition will easily fetch $35,000.00.So I think it's a pretty good bang for the buck...LOL! I will add that if I did this same build 5 years ago it would have probably cost about $6000.00. Gen parts are getting harder to source and are at a premium.
  5. sure ....but i didn't use it...so i didn't factor in the MK4 bezel.....just what I used....
  6. So here is the breakdown for my build. 1.) phong midcase only= $950.00 2.) gen caseback =$1000.00 3.) gen 571 endlnks =$265.00 4.) gen 78350 19 bracelet =$450.00 5.) gen T21 modern crystal=$200.00 6.) gen NOS 6265 MK2 bezel=$1200.00 7.) gen NOS MK3 p302 pushers=$600.00 8.) gen NOS 7030 tube= $125.00 9.) gen NOS 703 crown=$150.00 10.) gen NOS tritium 6 piece hand set= $850.00 11.) gen near mint "SIGMA" 6263/5 dial = $3500.00 12.Roamer V726 movement= $1200.00 + $325.00 servicing Total:$10815.00 If you were to add peroid correct MK2 pushers and 702 crown/tube,and dome crystal add another $2000.00 there you go..... any offers?
  7. maybe i should back to the drawing board........ ...............
  8. Anyway seriously guys.......what do you see wrong with this Carrera? What other suggestions would you make to make it perfect?
  9. Thought I would wear this today.Good enough to pass of as a gen?Or am i just dreaming?
  10. Thought i would this one today......what do guys think?
  11. After some research and discussion the problem for the mounting points is with the movements themselves. Some V72 based movements were never drilled and tapped for case screws. You should always do a visual ispection to make sure your movemnt has been drilled and tapped. Rolex does not use the generic case holes on their V72 movements but instead elect to drill and tap their own to mount the movements to their cases.
  12. i'll post some pics of the movement as well when i get a chance...thanks everyone !
  13. Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. One thing I wanted to mention is the astronomical cost to build one of these.....you can easily invest several thousands of dollars or more for the right combination.
  14. So i finally got my 6263/5 back from the Zigmeister affectionally also known as " The Zigmeister"....I have to say I am quite impressed with the quality of all his work on my watches past and present and this 6263/5 build was just as amazing! The Zigmeister retapped the Phong case to accept the gen pushers and crown tubes. We decided to not use the V72 movement and opted instead for a V726 out of an old beat up Roamer. The V726 has the same beat rate and is closest to the Rolex 727 movement. It was a great movement ; but had not been serviced and was dirty, full of tar like gunk, and pretty dry; but it was unmolested. He did a full service overhual on the movement and it runs +/- 3 seconds per day.It is now just as good as a new old stock V726 and should last years with regular servicing. All the Chronos stop and reset perfectly. I could not ask for or found a nicer movement to use for this project. The Zigmeister worked his magic assembling the watch as well. He informed me all went well with the build and pretty much the only issue was to custom fabricate a couple of case tabs to secure the movement as the ones I supplied would not work.Imagine my surprise when the assembled watch finally came home to daddy!I have to say this has to be as close as your going to get to gen without buying the real mccoy.Everything is 100 % gen except for the v726 Roamer movement and Phong midcase.I even reshaped the lugs to the correct shape of the gen ever so slightly.and the midcase needed a little massaging to accomodate the gen 571 endlinks as well. However this particular case was pretty much perfect and .2mm within spec of a gen late model midcase. Enjoy the pics!
  15. that's a "SIGMA" daytona dial.......white gold baton markers.........
  16. not worth it to buy the rep dials......$3000 for a gen sigma like the one on ebay is a great deal.......bet you could remove the red daytona lettering easy enough....
  17. So off goes the case to Zeigmeister to retap it for the gen pusher and gen crown tubes....... Now which bezel should we use? Phong 6263 MK4? or Gen 6265 MK2? I think I like the Gen 6265 MK2 !!!! Here is the Gen Tropic 21 modern production crystal...It fits the Phong case perfectly!
  18. can someone tell me what time it is? I seem to be running a little slow.....
  19. a good clean 7734 will run a bit more.$250....add another $325.00 for servicing via The Zigmeister. Then you are in the ballpark of $525.00 +++++Regardless what movemnent you buy, always have it serviced right away or if it is sold to you serviced make sure you get proof of servicing........
