I bought an expensive explorer 2 pro-hunter and a black and blue GMT recently from a TD that had AR on the cyclops. Both watches produce a very noticeable blue glow in any light in the date window. Looks bad. The TD says it is normal to the current gen products. I went to an AD and looked at similar models and they don't show this. IT's quite a "tell" as in dead giveaway. Has any else seen this with recent product?

I just received my IWC Portofino Chrono. Pictures are here. I am concerned about a couple things, and wondering if I am over reacting. 1. this is supposed to be AR coated... I may not understand the meaning but the crystal doesn't seem super clear. 2. this watch feels really hollow and the movement seems to shake and spin a great deal...Is this normal? Feels kinda hollow but, maybe thats because I'm used to wearing a submariner? When I tap on it, I can hear the watch shake inside. . . Is this all normal? What do you all think?

Hi there. I have 2 Panerai Ferrari 008 watches, and I like them very much. Well, there is one thing I dont like. The "blue" AR treatment on the crystal. It makes the Dial look "dark". Can someone please help me with a with a few quistions: 1. Is the "blue" AR treatment on the inside or outside of the crystal? 2. Can I get the AR of? 3. Does anyone have on of these Panerai's without the AR treatment? (pictures please) 4. Is there a place in EU, where I can get the crystal AR treated (color less of course) Thanks for your time ...

Hello members This is my 3rd 15400 in 2 months. After the BP black dial (sold), then a Miyota white dial (sold), I decided to get another one. I think I won't sell it in the next... 2 months (May be???). As everybody knows, I'm an AR freak. Then, I put inside a Domi/Guru AR Xtal. After that, I tell to myself why you don't try something different? Well, I decide to mod the open caseback. This is what I did..... Put a tint film with standard light 35% inside, then... Here is the result. So what the guys say....

I apologize if this topic has been discussed before, but I recently purchased my first rep, and while happy with the overall experience with Andrew from Trusty Time (excellent communication), I'd like to inquire about the experiences people have had with the AR coating on these watches. The model I purchased (OMG0154) is a rep of the PO worn in Quantam of Solace (Omega 2201.50). It's listed as having a purple AR coating on the crystal. I didn't notice it at first, but at certain angles it looks like a very smudged up purple hologram on the glass. I tried using a lens cleaning cloth to wipe it clean, but to no avail. Unfortunaetly, it's next to impossible to photograph this phenomenon. Has anyone here seen anything similar with AR coatings?

So, I managed to smack my watch against something, and scratched the AR coating. You could only see it under very specific lighting conditions, but it was the only thing I could see after it happened, and it was driving me crazy. I tried everything to get the rest of the coating off, figured it would at least be uniform that way. I tried rubbing compounds, polishes, pastes, by hand, and even a Dremel with a felt wheel. That sh*t is really on there, and I'm surprised it even got scratched in the first place. I had started to look for a replacement gen crystal, and figured I'd try more severe measures, figuring it could do no harm- so I took 1000 grit sandpaper, and wet-sanded the crystal. The AR coating is all gone, there are zero blemishes on the crystal, and it looks absolutely fantastic! You no longer get the purple hue in reflections, but there is minimal if any glare, and the surface looks flawless. I will take pics and post later during the day when there is better light.

Hey guys, Is anyone in touch with Uwe or knows if he's still active and accepts jobs?! For those who don't know Uwe.. He's a German watchmaker (modder if you will) from Dortmund and worked on this http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/157009-dlc-ap-diver-v3/ for example! I tried to contact him but nothing yet?! If anyone knew about his whereabouts or could advice me on how to contact him, I'd be very thankful.

I've seen pictures of this ProHunter GMT on both here and RepGeek (posted by projectologist). The AR just seems to be incredible. Not only does the crystal vanish but the cyclops seems to retain the "black hole" effect. I have a ProHunter sub that I don't wear purely because the crystal is terrible. The glare off the cyclops is so bad I can't even read the date unless I turn it to just the right angle. I'd love to somehow get a crystal similar to the one on Projectologists ProHunter GMT on my ProHunter Sub. Does anyone have any idea how to get this done? In his post, Projectologists lists that the crystal was double AR coated on both sides. While I believe it was my gut tells me that the crystal must have also been additionally AR coated under the cyclops to add the blackhole effect. I was thinnking that ideally I would take a crystal that already has an AR'd cyclops, like the ones from BigCrown (I actually have one already) and have the whole thing additional double AR coated. The problem is that it's a gen spec crystal and I'm not sure if that will fit in the noob sub, which the ProHunters are based on. Anyone know whether a gen spec crystal can be stuffed into a noob sub? I thought I saw a tutorial on here where someone shows how to take apart a noob sub and replace the crystal with a Clarks (gen spec) crystal by remvoing it through the case back. Anyone run across this thread? Assuming it fits do you think that double AR coating a BigCrown "black hole" crystal would give me a similar result? My other option would be to take out the crystal that came with my ProHunter sub and have it double AR coated but my gut tells me that's not going to give me the "black hole" effect. Can someone who's knows more about AR than me help guide me in the right direction or just chime in with your thoughts?
