highoeyazmuhudee Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Omega X-33.. The current Astronaut watch. I think these are still made, but no longer available to general public. Tissot T-touch is also a very well-made watch with unique functions. It might be too cheap to be considered lust-worthy.. The Omega is no longer available because it falls apart at a turn of the crown. I read a story about an astronaut whose watch literally fell apart and he had to fix it while on a mission. Knowing nothing about watches but having an engineering background he fixed it fine, i think even made it better that time around.
trailboss Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Of cause there are lustworthy quartz watches! Here are my current wants: Any 7A38 equiped Mill Seikos: But especialy the grail quartz Seiko, the Vulcan, issued only to Vulcan aircrew. Very high EMF resistance and like all 7A38s accurate to 6sec a year: And the SNA411a: Definiatly one on the way soon. Gray market ones are dirt cheap ATM. Col.
JohnG Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Sexeh Seikos!!!! Lots of people turn their nose up and don't even see the irony of doing that on a forum about FAKE WATCHES.
RichBlack Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Blue Dial SMP 300m 41mm Quartz, my daily beater.
jmd33 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 (edited) I totally agree about autos having a soul (half my watches are autos) - but you have to admit, there is something nice about the "set it and forget it" of a nice quartz: Edited July 24, 2009 by jmd33
Member X Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 And the SNA411a: Definiatly one on the way soon. Gray market ones are dirt cheap ATM. Col. That's like the most complicated dial in the world!! lol What are all the numbers for?!
Guest HaloArchive Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I have a daily beater which I pick up most days. Its Quartz.. Its Fossil It has been good to me and holds sentimental value as well. Yellow dial, blue subdials, H Bracelet. It even has AR coating H
krpster Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I think there are for sure...as mentioned breitling has a few Breitling Emergency Mission Breitling Aerospace Also, while maybe not lust worthy this has been my daily beater for the last 11 years and has done so with flying colours
trailboss Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 That's like the most complicated dial in the world!! lol What are all the numbers for?! Similar to a Navitimer. It does aeronautical navigational computations. Speed over ground, ETA, fuel burn, time to waypoint, ect, ect. Much like a E6B circular slide rule. One moment Captain . . . Col.
maxman Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 To the OP: Grab and Go chrono. I really like this watch but dont they go for around $1000.00? I first saw It In the Aprial IW Mag. I really like that vintage look. There are some quarts watches that I like but lust? Naaa I dont think so Mike
Pugwash Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I do believe everyone needs a quartz to set the other watches to, and I think in a collection of over a dozen watches, a quartz piece is acceptable. Here's mine: And here's my walking watch: But generally, I'd rather wear a mechanical rep than a quartz gen.
Guest HaloArchive Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I think one watch that is good is the Seiko Grand Complication
signumboy Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 seiko quartz chrono like others have said you need one to set the others and a chrono helps with regulateing
kramerica2 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I actually prefer the quartz reps on chrono watches because of the problems the A7750 has: 1. It's much more expensive than quartz. 2. It has a lot of reliability issues. 3. It can't replicate many watches' sub dial spacing, so sometimes the quartz version costs much less and is in fact much more accurate. On non-chrono watches, I like to get the "soul' as you call it of the auto movements. It has less problems, at a decent price.
mad dawg Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 +1 for the above. I just picked up a quartz speedmaster for $88 delivered. Excellent finish and at that price plenty of fun.
Prsist Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Two of my favorite watches are quartz: 1. Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chronotimer 2. Breitling Aerospace Avantage

Mercury Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I used to have a nice Bulova, but I lost it at Best Buy a couple years ago.
georgegrasser Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) The Philip Admiral has an Army of followers. Sometimes I like it sometimes I don't. I guess I wish the bracelet was in the Breguet XX style. Edited July 28, 2009 by georgegrasser
trailboss Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Yep, gotta agree. Chase do a damn nice watch. Made in USA to boot! A little on the expensive side but that['s the penalty you pay for having them made in the Land Of The Free. Col.
Slartibartfast Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Ah....small objects of desire. Yes, even quartz ones!
