alligoat Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Real. Nice underline dial. Is it pre 1500? 66xx or something early.
By-Tor Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Not an expert of these models but it's either genuine or hell of a franken. Congrats anyway.
Guest HaloArchive Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I say franken. Why would you post to show something Gen off and to have us guess? You aren't that type of person
paneristi_man Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I'd say real though I'm no expert.
Shundi Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Gen or a hell of a franken... movement shots ?

Toadtorrent Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Hey where's the pics?! I wanna play too! You need pics to assess? C'mon B...you're better than that. I thought you were an expert.
Nanuq Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 You need pics to assess? C'mon B...you're better than that. I thought you were an expert. Well of course I was going to use the pics so other members could see what I was describing. So be it. In this model, the inks used for the dial underline were produced from lime mined along the shores of the Amazon. However, during August (3rd week) native ritual dance replaces all other activity, the most secret and mysterious being the "Babaloo". To perform this dance correctly one must smear oneself with a generous layer of white dye, or have it tattooed into one's skin. It is also not uncommon to find natives adorning themselves with white dyed jewelry. The problem presented to WIS collectors is that the lime becomes so depleted during late August and early September, the underlines on Rolex dials produced during this period are always pale when compared to other months of the year. Look at that underline. It's pathetically pale. The careful observer will also note the tip of the minutes hand is ever so slightly rounded. This is due to Hans Wildorf's obsession with using a tool until it is thoroughly worn out before replacing it. Any true WIS would know that all minutes hand stamps are placed into the production lines in the 3rd week of December (Hans' one true offering of generosity during the Yule seasons) and that the stamps always wear to the point of producing rounded minute hand tips by ... August. This is therefore an August production watch, with a pale underline, hence genuine.
Toadtorrent Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 This is therefore an August production watch, with a pale underline, hence genuine. And here I was thinking it was gen because of the sagging crown guards. See...once a Noob...always a Noob. All Hail the Master - NANUQ!! :smartass:
fakemaster Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I have no idea. But i have seen Subs in Ads with worse looking DWs so it could be gen.
Nanuq Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 *Biting my lip and jumping up and down* You know, that Sub just looks SO out of place in that shot. Doesn't it sort of just turn your stomache? I mean... the dissonance! Tell ya what, send it to me and I'll solve your dissonance problem.
Shundi Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 JoJo I have the watch second to the left and from the right, albeit with "Alpha" hands from '62... just added a beautiful 78350 bracelet- those no-day Oyster Perpetuals are simple elegance!
Stephane Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I'm here Jojo...Yes, Canal Street Amazing...what can be found in NYC, just around the corner of Canal Street Did I guess well ?
