P4GTR Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Love the case#'s and the twist of fate as to how they could apply to the real beast!
Watchmeister Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 I have come back to the pics several times and had even been fortunate enough to see the work in progress. But I gotta say this one came out beautifully. Ubi - congrats.
highoeyazmuhudee Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 these cases are the only ones ive seen with one crucial often over looked detail that IS correct, but NOTICED by avid collectors...the length of the middle stroke in the letter 'E' in the case engravings... compare with ALL other reps, EVEN the $1200 NDT case is INCORRECT with this regard.
ubiquitous Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 Sorry for the late reply, gang; haven't had the opportunity to log in for a few days, so I'm just catching up. Thanks again for the kind comments! Been wearing this one for the past week or so while travelling, and it has been the perfect companion! Now time to focus on the next project... And I have a few others that could use some finishing as well (this one included). All in due time, I suppose All the best! //ubi
jmb Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Stilty, it might be that the misalignment might have been "OK" with management as the Tudor, after all, is part of their "budget" line! I guess that's why I have really started liking Tudors in general...
ubiquitous Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 Hate to bump this one again, but.... New caseback has been added. Turned out pretty good, methinks.
freddy333 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Beautiful, Ubi. But you have the wrong number
lanikai Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Awesomely sweet shots.. R !!!!! Your images keep getting sweeter.. needless to say the project all came together .. the journey took many turns.. fo sure.. all that I can say is SWEET !!!! R
ubiquitous Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Thanks, Lani! Gotta say... This project was a test of patience (and wallet) for sure. Lots of obstacles, but turned out well in the end Great to see you back, buddy! Hope you'll be spending a little more time with us now that you've got your computer back up and running... Cheers! //ubi
mjmj Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Yes, very nice touch! And as per your inspiration, I did the same thing. My custom serial is of my children's birthdays. Might as well make it personal. No point in stealing serials off the web. but your engravings look much nicer then mine! Great idea Ubi and Stilty. This is priceless
RobbieG Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Speechless - which is something I'm usually not. You are the Michael Jordan of Frankencraft. Humbled by your presence...

Ephry73 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Looks great Ubi. Wait, maybe I need to read this post line by line, is that patina natural on the dial and hands? This is EXACTLY what I'm building. One question though, does anyone have the part number for the crystal gaskets? both for retainer and crystal. I thought I saw those in a post but cannot find them Great point for and of reference. Thanks for sharing man. E
ubiquitous Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 Ephry, The dial is natural patina; hands were relumed by the Zigmeister; the amazing thing is that he lumed the hands without seeing the dial I need to find a good matching set of tritium hands one of these days, but the hands as-is are a good match to the dial markers (and since they glow brightly at night the luminova is nice and functional as well). Build list as of current: -Genuine Rolex 1520, serviced and overhauled by The Zigmeister. -Genuine Rolex 5513 dial; original and untouched. -Genuine Rolex 5513 Submariner Lumi hands, relumed in a vintage tone by The Zigmeister. -Genuine 25-19 crystal. -Genuine thick font tritium insert. -Genuine bezel. -Genuine 702 crown -Genuine 7020 tube -Phong case/caseback -Genuine 23-12200 2mm rolex springbars. -Genuine 580 end links -Genuine 78360 bracelet links -Genuine 93150 clasp Cheers and best, //ubi
Ephry73 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Looks just like a good thick french vanilla shake. Incredible match for sure. I need to find a 702 or alike tube. Even a 700 for the Tudor 5514 weirdo I'm building. E
ubiquitous Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 I'll try to get my parts unpacked and dig around to see if I have a spare 702 tube for you. If I do... I'll send it your way.
Ephry73 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 If you have a 702 crown let me know. I will pay for it. Well, as long as it is not an arm and a leg Thanks man. E
ubiquitous Posted September 4, 2011 Author Report Posted September 4, 2011 If you have a 702 crown let me know. I will pay for it. Well, as long as it is not an arm and a leg Thanks man. E I have a 702 with your name on it. Price is the best price of all... $0.00...
Ephry73 Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 I'm on it like a fly on dead PM sent E
valerian Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Crown guards cleaned up: Ubi, how could I have missed this! Extremely beutiful build! Val.
Ephry73 Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Homage is the greatest compliment, as I am definitely trying to build something like this. E
