Coming back form school i decided to read my mails during driving ( stupid stupid ) My SUB didn't miss a tick but my wifes car is a total wreck now. Cats
I hit a car who crossed my driving lane in his flank he. He was coming from the opposite direction turning left crossing my lane whilst i was driving straight on. Technically he's wrong because he crossed my lane and luckily nobody saw me reading my mails. My damage will be the difference between the second hand value and what the insurance company will pay me. What i gained is that i learned my lesson and that i not seriously injured Carpe Diem Cats
Jkay
I'm glad you're OK! I think that standard watch movements are a lot more hardy than some people here say. I demolished my small horse barn a few months ago, and wore my 2836 powered DSSD the whole time I was swinging a demolition hammer .. 3 weekends in a row. Nothing bad happened at all. dolphinfreindly
I will be honest in the fact that I am unsympathetic (not that you are looking for sympathy), however I am also very glad that no-one was hurt and hopefully your experience will resonate to everyone who uses a mobile while driving. plaifender
So glad you're ok. No checking emails while driving! tisk tisk. At least it wasn't as bad as it could've been! great to hear about your watch though!

I agree with dolphinfriendly here. Very pleased no one was hurt. On a more serious note, I lost a friend on a motorcycle who was struck by a lady texting on her cell phone. That said-- while you are relatively safe inside your "cage" of a car, what if there were a motorcycle or cyclist present?
Cats
I didn't seek for sympathy with this mail. I only wanted to stress the fact that is wrong and dangerous to drive and read mails. It's indeed a irresponsible behavior that i performed yesterday. Technically the guy was wrong cause he suddenly crossed my lane but morally i'm to blaim. Lessons learned. Carpe Diem Cats
dolphinfreindly
I didnt mean any disrespect as you have been quite upfornt and honest about blame ect and I can see that you are merely trying to allow others to learn from your mistake. chronoluvvv
sucks to hear but its still better than me wrecking my econobox after i clipped a simple guardrail on a hot night trying to pacify a cranky child and avoid goddamn farm animals ... all @ the same time ! What you lose in ease of use you make up in speed. Comes in real handy when stopped @ a trafficc light
Stephane
Glad you are ok and surely glad that you learned the lesson. My two last crashes where due to: 1) lightning a cigarette 12 years ago 2) changing the radio station 1 year ago. Both in the city, hiting the front car at not even 30 KM/H There is no way I will read or do whatever while driving anymore!
Katerchen
@cats WOW... this couldve turned out much worser my friend luckily the most important thing (your health) seems to be alright!! It doesnt even has to be the cell-phone that distracts you from driving... but playing with the phone whilst driving IS indeed a risk! Working in insurance biz (germany) i can tell the drivers that companies wont pay "a dime" if cell-phone is involved with an accident. Worst thing that ever happened to me was back in '94 when i was cruising around with some friends in a big limousine... it was raining. I didnt even speed when somehow all of a sudden a malicious tree jumps our way... it all happenend so fast that i couldnt react fast enough to dodge this blow. So the tree hits us on the side of my car - luckily not "full impact" but i almost pi$$ed my pants! I remember, first thing i thought was w_TF?! A tree?? In the middle of big town where you would expect it least? I still think that more drivers lost their lives due to malicious trees than trees to malicious car drivers! Of course i reported the malicious tree to the police! DRIVE SAFE! (beware the trees) George
