FxrAndy Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 less than a year ago i only owned 1 rolex, a deep sea that i woke up wearing after a GTG you will see the results of my years work at the end This one started after seening a gen refinished dial come up for say that I promptly bought. then i searched for a case, movement, gen crown and tube, crystal and hands this is the result The case is signed 14270 but is the right shape and size for a 1016, i had a nightmare getting a crystal to fit with the bezel but after 4 broken crystals i finaly got it right. The movement is a slow beat 2973 with a self moddified single position crown serviced and running like a champ Hands are clarks that have been aged just a little so that they dont quite match the dial as many of the gens i have looked at dont either, The dial and hands have a bit of lume but not a great deal. The bracelet is off an MBW EX2 all smoothed and polished and MBW 501b endlinks (i know these are not correct but it is the only one that would fit this case niceley apart from a jubily) I will take some more photos tomorrow in natural light so that you can see the dial correctly but for now i will leave you with these And with the others (absent on duty (sold) 1665 white, 1665 red) So what is next, well i have the 1655 sat there but now the new cartel version is out it sort of puts the MBW in the dark so should i bother?
HauteHippie Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Wow another really nice one to add to your collection! Congrats!
vlydog Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 I love this one A; great job! I have always been attracted to this model but I am afraid the size wouldnt suit me.
FxrAndy Posted September 14, 2010 Author Report Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks Guys It does feel a bit small but i may get used to it.
redwatch Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Looks awesome! Lugholes look great and I quite like it on the bracelet you've chosen. It looks good!
ubiquitous Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Lookin' good! Love the simplicity of the 1016...
Toadtorrent Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 The 1016 is a classic indeed. Interesting stuff.
spooky driver Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 less than a year ago i only owned 1 rolex, a deep sea that i woke up wearing after a GTG Well that deep sea was heavily pregnant when you bought it.....cool 1016 btw

dluddy Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Andy's spent too much time with Stephane Looks great A and I have always loved the simple design of the 1016 - classic beauty
alligoat Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 So I can add a 14270 case to the list of possible donors! Nice job Andy!
lhooq Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 It's killing me that I can't see any pictures through the company firewall. Regardless, congratulations and wear it well!
lhooq Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 OK, I can see the pictures now. Great stuff, and I can hardly believe that you started off with a 14270! The lugholes really transform the case.
FxrAndy Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 This 14270 case had small lug holes to start with it is an old MBW with the well known Original POLEX Design.
sander Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Great build Andy Nice size for Ms Andy!
FxrAndy Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 Fortunaltly my wife will not wear any thing smaller then her steelfish maybe in the odd occasion the tudor i built for her but really that is the odd occasion.
lhooq Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 This 14270 case had small lug holes to start with it is an old MBW with the well known Original POLEX Design. Ah, that explains the gentle contours of the case, as opposed to the more trapezoidal and pointier shapes seen on the cartel 14270s. Excellent base to build on, though crystal fitment sounds like a real challenge.
FxrAndy Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 It is very probewrble that this case was designed as a 1016 and they just put the wrong case number on it, lets face it rep makers have made bigger mistakes when it comes to engraving!
