Admin
Well, the ads here at RWG isn't the biggest success, since only a fraction of the members seem to notice them and click them. So I will need your help on this one. Please click the link below and answer 1 very simple, multiple choice question on what kind of ads you want to see here at RWG? Select the topics that interest you and that you know you would click if you saw something interesting; http://survey.rwg.cc//survey.php?surveyid=3 thanks, T

How about this Admin, we have a weekly click away day where once a week everybody clicks all the ads a couple of times. Make a sticky for it and an auto mailer to remind everyone. jkerouac
I've clicked the ads a few times, but in truth these ads are just not very appealing to me. So perhaps an alternative would be to sell premium placement of watch advertisements to our existing dealers, whom we are already commited to. I realize that on the one hand they are already contributing in order to have their own own sections in the Dealers forum. On the other hand, perhaps they would like to have premium placement at the top of the page whenever a member browses to RWG. They could choose to promote individual new models....or general image messages explaining why they their service/support is better than the other guy's. We are a captive and very receptive audience. No one else's advertising can possibly have as much bang for the buck. Perhaps this would be an attractive option for them as well as for us. fotoman
ok - what does it mean that not only the ads don't get attention, but in a thread about ads, 90 percent of the posts are nothing about the ads for me -i buy a ton of stuff on the internet, BUT - i use deal sites like www.spoofee.com i have a nice size amazon thing going - and other sites like shopping.com and froogle.com fact of the matter is the first price you see on the internet is almost never the best. So - click through ads are tuff for the web savvy in my opinion its tuff, you need a combination of something we need at the right time. there are plenty of well off folks here on the board - they probably don't spend the time i do pinching to save pennies - so what do you rich people buy on the spot lets advertise for that stuff oh, and till you guys brought it up, in never saw the ads - i use ad blocking tools with firefox, they don't even come up anymore its great. Well, its great for me

Chronus
I agree sports - links to top sports (football) stories would get me clicking away perhaps, though I tend to look at BBC, football Guardian and soccernet. Also, for some reason XP seems to run out of resources and wont let me open may windows after a while. It used to be that I'd leave this computer on for a month at a time and now I have to reboot just so I can open more than 2 IEs after say 24 hours of the computer running I better sort this mess out, virus scan turns up nothing
Goochenbrau
Honest comment here: maybe instead of trying to raise revenue perhaps the strategy should be to cut costs. Are four "Off Topic" forums needed?

Are four "Off Topic" forums needed? Not sure if you are serious about this one, but cutting down the number of forums won't save us a penny. I am however looking into ways to cut the costs of running this site
tonton2000
How about ads linked to stuff that people here are likely to buy/be interested in, like bezel inserts and parts on ebay, or online watch magazines.
Linder
The more money I make, the more broke I get.. I'm going to venture a guess that most of our impulse shopping money gets spent on watches. And you know you all already have your favorite porn sites to visit. But news and sports news, those are something that can be clicked and enjoyed without cutting into your watch budget!

FasTTaP
My 2 cents (I'm an internet marketing pro) : - stop with short 'one word' adsense on the top of the page, go for the full text ads. - go for a skyscraper format, put it on the right side of your pages - shorten the page lenght (5/10 posts per page max, you'll increase page views) - work on your meta tags, add some brands, watch keywords, like straps n' stuff, forget about words like replica in the meta keywords, you'll never have one of us clic on a scam replica website from RWG. ++ working on metakeywords will increase adsense efficiency - get some graphic/flash banners - could work - (porn, online games, stuff like that... just give it a test). - subscribe to some affiliation network, lots of us doe buy iPod/Dells/U name it/... for chrismas, and buying them from RWG is a nice way to give U some cash without spending more. I'd recommend TradeDoubler, but there are some alternatives in the US. - in France, we got a shopping 2.0 service call Zlio.com to recommend eCommerce items through widgets, it's pretty efficient, you could recommend watch books and make some money like this. (same thing, vertical skyscraper format, right of each page) If I may, could I ask you : - number of pageviews/month - number of visitor/month - number of UNIQUE visitor/ month - adsense revenu (better PM me this since it's illegal to publicly display it) - other revenues of your site You got a great site and a great community, there must be some way to make it profitable. Sharkbait
If you click the amazon ads, RWG gets nothing, but if you purchase something, we get a very small percentage of the purchase. That is useful information. I make several purchases from Amazon each year. Certainly no problem to access via RWG and allow a pass through credit. Any other sites where you have a similar arrangement?
