chiman12
I bought a 5514 case set from a member some time ago... ...so I took off the bezel...the lugs...way to cccchhhuuubbbbyyy for a 5514... ...here is an original... So...I put the lugs on a strict diet of grinding wheels and dremels....BETTER!!! I put the bezel on and...wwwwhaaaaa????? It's a thicker 1665 bezel! That don't look right!! But waitaminute...I've seen that case profile before...single red seadweller!!! I have an old MBW srsd dial in my parts box...SWWWWEEETTTT!!! hhhmmm...case back is all wrong... off to the grinder again and apply sandpaper gently...BING!!! NOW!!! Let's put back together!!! That is one nice looking rep crown!!! MAN!!! I gotta work on those end links...make them fit better!!! The parting shot... Thank you for your patience for following this thread!!! No geniune parts we harmed in make this rep...

lhooq
Nice work, C! Much as I love genuine parts, I really enjoy reading about all-rep builds (with lots of value-added).

chiman12
Thanks everyone! Good job, Chiman! Nice to see you out of hibernation! yes J...FINALLY! Winter is done in the cold North... you could try fitting a 5513 bezel ring highoe...agreed...but this would mean that I would need to purchase a new bezel ring, which I didn't want to spend any extra money on this project and since I already had all the parts available...why not just transform it into something else. I might see if jmb has some time to do some case back engravings to finish off the project...
