gplracer Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Another great build and picture summary M Congrats!!!
flex Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 not sure how i missed this post. nice summary. always love your posts!
Ephry73 Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I'm definitely collecting parts for a similar build. This can easily be my new daily wearer when done. Great images and great watch for sure. E
dieselpower Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Never liked subs. With or without date. However, I have just seen the light! Wow! Fantastic. And another piece is added to my wish list. Well done LHOOQ and Chi for a great build. Kudos
pr0digy30 Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 That's the most beautiful thing I've seen all day... and I was at the beach earlier.
lhooq Posted July 30, 2011 Author Report Posted July 30, 2011 Thanks for the additional comments, all! I'd been missing this one, since my watchsmith has been working on it since Monday. Now it's back with a serviced Sears-Roebuck, and -someone call Pat Robertson- I've finally joined the 700 Club! New additions: Yuki tube and 7mm Twinlock:
Ephry73 Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Me likey! How was the fitting of the yuki parts? E
lhooq Posted July 30, 2011 Author Report Posted July 30, 2011 Me likey! How was the fitting of the yuki parts? Very straightforward, but then, the only Yuki parts used were a tube and a bracelet.
lhooq Posted September 4, 2011 Author Report Posted September 4, 2011 All of you know how much I love a good rep/gen comparison! I recently stopped by my watchsmith's and stepped into an impromptu get-together for some local collectors. Great turnout of vintage Subs, with more than a few No-Dates in attendance. I wasn't prepared to do the usual angle-for-angle shoot (hence, no separate thread), but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to take a few pictures. So here they are. Apologies for the harsh overhead lights, but I couldn't find any white umbrellas lying around.
redwatch Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 How on earth did I miss this before now???? That is a beauty LHOOQ!!! And the new pics with all those other Rollies..... wow! Just wow!!! Love the PCG's and that bluish faded insert. Just love it!
lhooq Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 Thanks, guys! red: The color of the insert was a real surprise to me. When I first got the watch, I thought it was more of a charcoal look. But there are certain lights (including sunlight) that really bring out the blue hue. It's terrific, and I'm really glad I didn't pay the $200-300 for a gen insert!
Ephry73 Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Looks DELICIOUS@! if one can say that about a watch. E
Dizzy Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Wow that dial is AWESOME! Nice work Chiman! After seeing this, I want to convert my Cartel 1680 into a 5512!!! Beautiful!! dizz
lhooq Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 Thanks, guys! And, yeah, I think the texture on the dial is what really lets my Sub blend in with all those gens. Big, big thumbs up to C and all the dials he destroyed to get to this result!
Ephry73 Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 So if you had to choose between NDT and Yuki ETA dials for a similar project(I know I know) which would you choose? E
chiman12 Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Big, big thumbs up to C and all the dials he destroyed to get to this result! Poor SyL dial...we'll resurrect that project one day!
lhooq Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 So if you had to choose between NDT and Yuki ETA dials for a similar project(I know I know) which would you choose? The Serpico would have been nice for the double-takes, but the NDT is clearly the better replication. If you can spare the extra cash, go with that one. Poor SyL dial...we'll resurrect that project one day! The end justifies the means!
Ephry73 Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 I see I see I see, said the blind man. lovely watch for sure. E
