danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Ok. This is sort if what I want my watch to look like; And ; So I'm thinking Joshua $118 5513 Yuki matte dial; Gen crown and tube, low beat movement and Clarke crystal. Anyone know where I can source the gen crown, movement and crystal though?? Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.
dutchguy2 Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Most parts can be sourced on ebay or here in the sales corner. Don't know if the yuki dial will fit the joshua case. Please plan a decent inlay as well.
danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 What's an inlay? Pardon my stupidity!
danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 Do you know the part nam/ reference for the correct crown and tube, I think cousins may have them
ubiquitous Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 For an inlay- That's the bezel insert: For crowns- You can use a 702 (Triplock minus exterior tube gasket): Or 703 (Triplock with exterior tube gasket): There is also a 704 crown that's basically a monobloc 703 that you can use.
danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 Thanks ubi. Don't suppose you know if the yuki dial will fit a Joshua 5513?
ubiquitous Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 That I'm not sure. I've not had much experience with Josh's 5513. I do know that 5513 Submariner dials (26mm) will fit MBW cases, however.
danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 Ah but mbw cases are hard to source and v expensive right?
Original Scope Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Yuki's dials are the same size as gen. They would be too small for Josh's 5513 case. Keep an eye out for a MBW.
ubiquitous Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 I'm sure they're around... Maybe a WTB in the Sales forum might net some results?
danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 How about yuki's cases? Any major flaws?
Rolexaddict Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) we are turning arround... perfectclone is telling the stuff is 1/1, yuki talk about dials refinished by professionals..... in fact, this hobby is just.... a nice hobby ps : yuki cases most of the time are out of specs : to thick, fat, wrong bezel assy ..etc.etc.... danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 MBW it is then, so who's got one?......MBW it is then, so who's got one?......
highoeyazmuhudee Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 might have one (MBW case)for sale shortly. lug holes already drilled @1.25mm, stock crown tube removed new threads fits gen crown tube, cgs already done in mid to late 80s style. similar to the ones in your picture but more square on the inside. josh case, the CGS can never be fixed, and the yuki dial is printed too thick. mbk case + ingod 5513 dial or even an ndt dial in that particular style. will grant you the watch you want. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Dial-Rolex-Submariner-Ref-5513-Maxi-Dial-White-Lume-/350452852420?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51989e26c4 ingod has none for sale right now, but he usually does every few weeks. his dials look great.
danza1812 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 Let me know your price by message. Much appreciated my friend!
Dizzy Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 If the case is anything like the Puretime case, then a gen dial will be too small. It will work but there will be hardly anything holding the dial in place. I tried it and it kept slipping into the rehaut. The MBW1680 dial also was too small and its the same size as a gen 5513 dial i believe. the MBW case is awesome if you can get one, but if not maybe try the Yuki.
danza1812 Posted July 17, 2011 Author Report Posted July 17, 2011 Cheers. Plan a MBW case, plan b yuki. Got my eye on a gen dial now too!
1680 Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 @Dizzy: so a 1680 is harder to build using a MBW case?
woof* Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 I thought we decided the 26mm Tudor dial, gen and rep... fit Josh's 5513? ETA link
ubiquitous Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 @Dizzy: so a 1680 is harder to build using a MBW case? An MBW '1680' is based on the 5513 case, which is intended for a 26mm dial. The big problem with building a 1680 is that the genuine dial (and several aftermarket dials) measure at 26.5. So 1) the MBW does not provide a good basis for making a good, believable build and 2) if you were to use a gen or aftermarket dial, it would have to be trimmed down to fit the MBW case.
danza1812 Posted July 17, 2011 Author Report Posted July 17, 2011 So yuki's cases are more expensive than I thought. I'll have to hold out for an MBW. So MBW cases what do I look out for to make sure I get one of those?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 an mbk 1680 dial will fit the mbk 5513 case, its a little tight actually. and the dial isnt that bad, kind of looks like a service dial
danza1812 Posted July 18, 2011 Author Report Posted July 18, 2011 Hey highoeyazmuhudee have you got a source for MBW cases? Your knowledge if these is second to none.
danza1812 Posted July 19, 2011 Author Report Posted July 19, 2011 Hey guys, if I go for the MBW, what bracelet do you recommend? How about crystal too? Thanks.
