jmb Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Getting back to my "budget roots" I decided to brew up what I hoped would be a passable (one meter test) gilt 7928. I worked up the artworkk from pictures on the net and made some decals yesterday. I made this one 28.5mm to fit this particular case and used an Asian 2824 to power it. It's finished off with a rep riveted bracelet and funky case-back engraving. It's not perfect but looks nice on the wrist and I deem it "wearable" anywhere where WISes aren't coming out of the woodwork. Here's some pics:
Ueno Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Looks great Justin... What case are you using?
chiman12 Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Very nice J! Maybe you can make it into the famous PCG 7928!!!
jmb Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 Looks great Justin... What case are you using? Just a cheap rep case...
krpster Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Nice job J. I would definitely agree wearable
woof* Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 How did I miss this? Very cool! It's amazing how far this has come!
lhooq Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Fantastic, J! PCG = Pointed Crown Guards
jmb Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 That would be easy. I would just need to delete the line about the 6:00 marker and do everything in gold...
alligoat Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Looks great J! Now you just need to file down those cgs to a point and run another dial in gold. Here's a 7924
jmb Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 I used this particular one as my example but it would be simple to make an all gold dial...
alligoat Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 I'm thinking that the dial that you copied is a 1963 dial where they put the registration line under the printing and then added the T's either side of the Swiss at the bottom. So it would be at the point when they first started using tritium. Around that time they were also switching from gilt lettering to white. Pretty good for something you just whipped up!
Ephry73 Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Pretty impressive. I would like to sample these for sure. E
TeeJay Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Sorry I missed this, but that's a fantastic build
speedbird100 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 where did you get the case back?
Ephry73 Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 I definitely want to jump on one of the 7928s. Is there a PCG that looks more like a Cornino than a regular PCG? JMB, I sent you a PM E
txrob779 Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 Hmmm to buy or not to buy...THAT is the question...I cant thank you enough Justin.....Thanks man.. Rob
tghodin Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 great job! Been fun to follow this work as it has gone from sketches to really good prints! Best of luck in trimming it and end up swimming in dial orders
Ephry73 Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Although Ken has dials in the 26mm range, I would like to try this as an alternative first. E
speedbird100 Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 we need a dial and caseback set! i can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!
