Nice looker you have there , how budget is budget though? did it come with the folded bracelet?

thanks - yes , its basically Josh vintage Explorer with WSO bezel and Yuki dial.

i found the crystal in my parts bin ;)

planned is an other date-wheel, reluming the hands to the same tone and maybe a gen crown - but dont know if its worth is :) Cousins tube is already installed . rep crown fits perfect.

want to keep this on budget - went over the top with gen dial and ETA 2893 on my older build ...

cheers,

Frank

Frank this is an excellent project. What about the movement. Which one did you get?

its the DG-movement - seams to be the easiest choice ;)

Which WSO part is the bezel assembly? I have the cartel 1655 too and would want to convert to this..

Was fitting the bezel easy or some modding needed?

Thanks!

he has an complete (way too expensive ;) ) set - the quality could be much better - i had to shave the outside of the plexi and the gen insert to fit ...

sadly this set is the only option atm :(

WSO Bezel? Who are WSO?

Don't knock the DG Movement. I have a 'Sterile' GMT Master II with the DG Movement I am going to use as my first Mod attempt. It has the DG Movement, I compare it's time every day with my PCclock and a very accurate Rotary Chronospeed Quartz. It is always within 3 seconds of both.

Well done! But I wouldn't hate on the DG3804B movement. It's really not 'cheap', but instead inexpensive. It is as accurate and dependable as the converted ETA 2836-2 we get, 'Swiss' or Asian. The DG3804B has two advantages over the Swiss/Asian ETA. It is designed to be a genuine GMT movement from the ground up, not a conversion. In 3 - 5 years when a service is needed you just buy a new DG for $25usd versus an ETA service for at least $75usd from a very friendly watchmaker. To get a genuine ETA GMT designed from the ground up, the ETA 2893-2, you'll need to spend over $250usd with no real clear advantage in accuracy or durability. Rolexaddict uses the DG in his 1675 builds, and I do as well. I think we all have the belief that the Swiss movement is substantially 'better', and it may have been in the past. But I do not think that applies today.

okay inexpensive ;) but the whole "feel" is like 2 classes lower than ETA - not to mention the cheap sounds it makes while winding :)
