SkyFall Bond Watch

This is actually old new so I am surprised no-one has mentioned it here yet. James Bond's new watch for the up-and-coming movie is a tweaked version of the current mid-sized Aqua Terra. Only change is a new blue face to add to the exsting black and white line-up.

Here it is on-set!

Official designation is 231.10.39.21.03.001 which 'accidentally' leaked out when it appeared on an authorised Omega dealer's website before being pulled quickly afterwards.

Should be an easy and quck release for our reppers! I really couldn't give a crap about it having a SW200 or ETA2824 repica movement in it. How's about being totally honest guys and just sticking a nice cheap chinese ST18 with a custom rotor - at least the ST18 is close to the 2892 that the geniune calibre 2500 is based on.....

Saw that they went with the AT for this Bond, unusual that they ditched the PO, I thought they might have been pushing it as it's also new release and more likely to sell (being sporty) than the more dressy/sporty AT. I suppose they want to bring attention to their other watches. I'm sure we'll find went the movie comes out they'll have devised a method to get a couple of watches in (like in Casino Royale), maybe PO 8500 or new SMP ceramic while jumping off things and the AT while wearing the dapper gear.

Edit: Yes a good rep would be nice...and over due...not much to do with these, they have most of the hard work done already, case sorted, just fix the logos as we know they can and put the semi decorated sellita or st18 in as they have done for other reps!

Went through a ton of Craig pictures and noticed that prior to starting filming Skyfall, Craig has been wearing his private first generation blue dial Aqua Terra a lot. Usually he's wearing one of his many Rolex watches. I wonder if he asked for an Aqua Terra for Skyfall and they made a blue dialed version of the new generation..

I notice Jos and Andrew both have a large AT with a blue tuxedo dial in their repertoire.....

It's wrong for a pile of reasons. 46mm case? - the XXL AT is 49mmm, the calendar version, which is what I think this was based on going by the engraving on the rear, is 43mm and the 'standard' size is 41.5, but incredibly a fantasy rep pre-empts the blue dial!

Put the 2813 from the back of that in the existing 38.5mm rep case and steel strap with a dial as nice as that (and a correctly coloured datewheel) and I'd be happy for starters....

Get to it guys..... :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the AT one of two watches Craig is wearing in Skyfall? The PO wasn't ditched, he's just rotating watches like he did in Casino Royale. Isn't he still rockin the blue PO...?

Consider yourself corrected! First DC movie featured two watches (accidentally in one scene alternating on his wrist!) - a blue Seamaster 300m 'red' (which had just been launched and led many, myself included, to believe it was a GMT when pictures of it escaped from filming) and of course the 45mm black PO on rubber strap.

Second movie had only one watch - 42mm black PO on steel bracelet.

Never a blue PO!

Anyhoo - I've always fancied an AT and now I've a perfect excuse to add one to the collection....

Yeah agree time for the factories to get their arrse in gear and step it up a little, Just a question, I don't even think those ones listed on J/A sites are really 46mm case? Seems a missprint? Are they not very similar sized to the raft of a21j grey/white/black dialed versions floating around watcheden and timeshops @ 38mm to 41mm? I was sure I saw a review on one of the cheapies grey dial versions somewhere, on repgeek I think and it certainly wasn't 46mm, and it didn't look half bad, but obviously needs some improvements.

Here is a watcheden one: grey/black dial on which the blue above is based and 41mm!??

The Aqua Terra with the calibre 2500 is discontinued for a few years now. The current Aqua Terra uses the calibre 8500 which is completely made in house.

r11co, it sounds like your getting my post confused.

Let me clarify:

Craig wears the black 45mm PO on rubber throughout the whole first half of Casino Royale movie (not blue I know). From the train scene in Montenegro on he rocks the SMP Professional.

Its now obvious that Craig will be wearing the AT in Skyfall, but in addition to that watch "I thought I heard" he was also suppose to alternate to the BLUE PO....I may be wrong :)

Us beggers can't be choosers :D We'll take it if they can only do it in the slimmer profile, the decorated a2892 or sellita in the old case AT rep would do for starters :D

Apparently DC didn't want to wear the 45mm PO at all in Casino Royal because he thought it was way too big. Wouldn't be suprised if that was the reason for them to swith to the SMP later on. After all they didn't do a switcheroo in Quantum.

I've got to say, the 38.5 AT was not something that I did see coming, but I think it's fits the character a lot better and is more consistent with the books if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, I think you're right, I'm no Bond aficionado but didn't the original Bond in the books wear a Rolex Explorer 1? This switch to AT is more in keeping with that sort of design.

btw Tom, I love your avatar, never fails to make me smile :), the unibrow, Kazakhstan moustache and the missing incisor, it's a great look :D

Hehe, thanks.

Yeah, various Rolex 34 and 35/36mm models afaik.

Someone on WUS put it pretty good. Something along the lines of "the AT is a tough watch with an elegant design, just like the new Bond is a tough guy in a tailored suit".

Agreed - I'm more of a dressy guy than anything else and I feel that the AT fits me quite well. I've always loved swimming laps, and scuba diving for that matter, but since it's a Seamaster it's not a problem - but it's still dressy/elegant. I know I'm in a minority here, but I like the ATs better than any other Omegas out there, including the POs.

While I'm not looking forward to an AT explosion among young men, like after some of the other Bond movies, I do hope it will get the factories going. They can't all be doing Panerais, right?

Look at the effort the factories can put into the Ladymatic, with this sort of effort along with the cases that are currently

available for the a21j AT's (slightly bigger and thicker than the old rep AT) a movement holder for sw200 or 2892 and

the current teak dial format we could have a shiiit hot rep in no time. The major issue would be the blue coloured dial

(blue is never quite right in reps unfortuantly, I'd happily settle for a black or grey dial):

Look at that logo and lettering:

Also look at the movement, not the best pic but you can see what they have already done with a decorated sellita:
