edgematic1 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Guys, With the winter getting closeby I'm on the hunt for a new pair of boots. I do like the Loake Military boot style. Any thoughts? Other brands? Similar shoes?
hiker01 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Checkout myhabit.com and become a member. Their prices are crazy low for quality brands. I just picked like 10 pairs of nice boots, wingtips and penny loafers for under $100 each! Samples: Upcoming sales starting at 9am Pacific:
edgematic1 Posted November 8, 2012 Author Report Posted November 8, 2012 Thanks for the tip! Just found a model that I like quite a lot! Loake Dovedale boots. Will check out myhabit.com straight away!
dluddy Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Alden for Epaulet Brixton Boot in Natural Chormexcel
HartDoc Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 @dluddy Now THAT'S my style. What an awesome. Weekend boot
Nanuq Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 I swear by Montrail boots. For more casual use I use Montrail Couloir and they're superb. They're very warm, waterproof, lined with glove leather and apparently indestructible. For technical use it's the Montrail Verglas. They're insanely warm, lighter than the Couloir, and very rigid with a carved beech wooden footbed. You can't go wrong with either, and they're both step-in crampon compatible. If that matters to you.
japanic Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 HartDoc, boots by Alden are fantastic. The best build quality I've encountered, with the exception of John Lobb; but the quality is reflected in the price. When buying Alden boots, be sure to go down a half size as they wear slightly large.
Nanuq Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Here's the Montrail Couloirs on a backpacking trip to Spencer glacier.
edgematic1 Posted December 28, 2012 Author Report Posted December 28, 2012 Ended up with the Loake Dovedales Love them.

FxrAndy Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Thanks mate It would be good for all the people reading this thread if there was some one here who may be able to source loake's wouldn't it ;)
solkryssare Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 For the money I've been pretty impressed by the quality of H by Hudson. English made as well.
CatchingFire Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 I wear dark oiled, Iron Rangers made by Red Wing. Timeless style no matter what the magazines say, timeless styles are classics for a reason!
edgematic1 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Report Posted February 15, 2013 I must say after a few weeks of wearing the loakes, they are great for their price! Their oxfords are ok, but not on par with my Church's or Tricker's. I like them a lot though and good ones for the moments I can't wear my more expensive shoes.
