Akira Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 I just finished those two and have a third case lying around...but real life has priority now Watches how they arrived: The gen as the desired outlook: *pictures taken from VRF, not mine The modifications: Case reshaped and aged, edges softened Athaya 8mm Brevet crown and tube installed Lugholes drilled to accept genuine springbars Dial aged and given a tropical brown look Hands aged Dial and hands relumed Pearl relumed Insert aged Seconds hand painted - white Bracelet aged and endlinks modified to take genuine springbars Sternkreuz tropic reduced in height and installed O-rings greased The outcome: I hope you like them Cheers Akira 1
Nanuq Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 Verrrrrrrrrrrrry nice indeed. The white seconds hand really sets it off. Great work!
freddy333 Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 Too good for those silly rep bracelets. Get rid of them & you will kick the authenticity factor of your work up a notch.
dluddy Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Real nice akira. What was the base Silix model you used for these?
Akira Posted December 14, 2012 Author Report Posted December 14, 2012 Thanks for the compliments Too good for those silly rep bracelets. cousin_hub Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 A genuine to compare : http://rolexpassionmarket.com/watches/rolex-submariner-big-crown-ref-6538/
aeromatic Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 A genuine to compare : http://rolexpassionmarket.com/watches/rolex-submariner-big-crown-ref-6538/ Nice ! the dial looks just like our aged (refinished dials) a credit to all the franken builders here on RWG ! myself if i was buying a gen 6538 i could never be sure that the dial is a gen untouched or a re-finished one !
Monito1975 Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) Would you be willing to build one of those for me? Just name your conditions and terms, P M me please. Best Regards Edited December 23, 2012 by Monito1975
Dizzy Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Nice work. I agree those cheap bracelets just are so innacurate. Get a folded Yuki on there and you'll be set.
Akira Posted December 31, 2012 Author Report Posted December 31, 2012 Finished the last one... This is going to a great guy in Italy a
Lo' Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 I think that the definition "great guy" better applies to the individual which crafted these beauties! Can't wait to wear this on my wrist...
perry563 Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Put each on a BOND nato strap. I would prefer the version that has a two line dial without indexes on the bezel....a true Dr No look!
